Having served as a Stake Patriarch for 8 years, this insight on Father Smiths ordination as the first Patriarch in this dispensation was profoundly moving to me. I have visited that room, and felt the quiet peace that prevailed there. Inspiration, revelation, and visions, are not reserved for the early brethren, nor for just General Authorities, and is a great blessing to all faithful Saints striving to live humble, determined, consecrated lives. Thank you again and again for your sacred service in these podcasts.
I hope and pray that we can make our temple visits more meaningful, more purposeful. Let us go with the intent to learn something new... to learn the Lord's will for us. Let us go with the intent to have our hearts changed, to become new creatures, to become true followers of Christ. Then will the savior endow us with power to overcome the challenges of this mortal world?
I find it interesting that the last verse in D&C 137 says Joseph "beheld". To me, that carries with it the assumption that Joseph actually saw children, including possibly those children that he and Emma had lost and who were saved in the celestial kingdom. If so, then what an amazing comfort that must have been to both him and Emma.
Also, remember that the original request Moses made of Pharoah, was to let the Israelites leave so that they could worship their God in the desert, with the assumption that they were planning to return. Moses's entire mission was to show the Israelites how to properly worship their God.
