Don’t forget to stop in at the Tillamook dairy factory for a tour. Try the Marion Berry ice cream! It’s delicious! If you’re heading to Rainier in the next few weeks, you may want to consider micro spikes for the snow. They stretch over your shoes / hiking boots. The snow gets slick when the sun hits the snow.
Beautiful scenery! Please bring Hiking Poles (Leki) are what we use. Also, an ice axe could come in handy. If you begin to slide that ice axe could save your life. Thanks for sharing.
Such a beautiful natural place to hike at. Volcanoes do create rich beautiful landscapes. The food looked delicious especially the veggie saute looking plate, Yummy:)
Wow, what an incredible adventure! Loved watching your journey to summit the third tallest peak in Oregon. The van life camping and hiking combination is truly inspiring. Keep pushing your limits and exploring the great outdoors! 👏🏔
Wow another great video, smart Decision to do the turn around on the summit hike, don’t need any accidents, well that meal really looked Awesome. Am jealous….lol very inspiring you tube videos… great work 👏👏👏👏👏
You Guys! You've got to prepare for any big mountain with planing, conditioning and the right equipment including sun protection. Thanks for the adventures!
My hubs has done South Sister a few times and he says you were a little early and maybe a tad bit "unprepared," you should probably have your "10 Essentials," so it's good you recognized you needed to turn back. He also starts a lot earlier. Good video!
8:43 The two runners who passed were probably running from the hordes of mosquitoes. Maybe it's time to give a little bear spray a chance at driving the skeeters off. They'll need an ocean of calamine lotion after this one. 🦟🦟🦟🦟🦟🦟🦟🦟 Next time - trekking poles, premetherine treated clothes . Maybe even a day pack with first aid, more water and an ice axe and some rope.
Regarding poles, not only can they be an assist on climbs, and very helpful on descents, but they are also great for getting your arms some work and relieving some of the stress on your knees. I never hike without them any more.
Welcome to the west coast! We have some ferocious mountains! I have hiked sections of the John Muir trail in the Sierra, and it will challenge you. You see some of the most stunning mountain scapes. Glad to have you here. ❤️👍🕺🏻
The mosquitoes in the mountains in July are horrible in the Northwest. We usually wait to camp or hike in high elevations until mid-August. We had late snows this year so lingering later than normal. Glad you're experiencing the mountains of Oregon. Time for you to go to Mount Rainier next 😊
Beautiful! Just a precaution..I just watched video of people hiking. They had bear spray in back pack but were surprised by bear and got attacked. They lucky to survive. I would just practice reaching for it & ready to spray. Kinda like a gunslinger practicing pulling gun from holster. Be safe!
So glad you are in Oregon!!! I thought we saw you in Bend and now I know it was you. I climbed the south sister in my younger years, but it is a long hike. Very beautiful.
THANKS for taking the bear spray 😆 I’m the person that watches the Scary Bear Attack channel on RUclips! Those black bears normally don’t attack BUT they randomly do for whatever reason 😳 The last comment I made was about a random black bear attack in New Mexico of all places! Yall had just left NM by then but i immediately thought of you both because of that. SO GLAD you’re taking the spray 😅 love you both and fantastic vlog as always 💜
FYI....Don't know where you will be this Thursday, the 13th, but the northern lights are supposed to be visible due to a solar storm in several states including the pacific northwest. It would be so cool if you all had the opportunity to see them. Google it if you haven't already heard about it.
Oh I know your pain!! My husband and I backpacked to lake solitude in the grand Tetons and the last 1/2 Mike or so it was all up and solid ice and snow! Going up was bad but coming back down was way worse! I wish I had my poles then too!!! Glad y’all made it back down!!
We love you guys. The videography is truly amazing. The videos are relaxing, we sometimes watch you to fall asleep. We are watching the new and the old vlogs. They are educational, entertaining, inspiring... The wife(58) and I (64) call you the kids. When we are board with regular TV we say "let's watch the kids." Thanks
Welcome to our gorgeous PNW! If you guys are planning to do some serious hikes in Washington (Olympic, Mount Rainier, North Cascades National Parks) it wouldn’t hurt to have good hiking boots and hiking poles. Enjoy!
Thank you for sharing. The hike was great to see but not so much for you guys. Hope it is all good .The food made up for the hike.😂 Can't wait for the next one.😊 😊
Glad you 2 treated yourselves to a nice dinner after that grueling hike?? I think you bit off more than you could chew on that one, lol. But I admire your sense of adventure!😊😊
Guys running past you reminded me of my wife and I hiking the steep side of Pinnacle in Little Rock. There were these guys running full speed jumping from rock to rock up and down, they passed us both ways several times. And they had these heavy vests full of lead shot on! It was incredible. We thought we were pretty fit 60 plus year olds, but these guys were like superheroes! You two are pretty darn impressive too!
@@CodyandKellieoh wow! I live in Arkansas and have hiked Pinnacle. I thought that was tough scrambling up the rocks. I too was amazed by people running up it. Beautiful hike! Love your videos! We are going to Oregon for the first time in six weeks. Can’t wait!
Just watched this video. At least you almost made it up to the top. Have you guys ever made it to the top of a mountain? Are you going to try to summit mount Rainer?
Oh, my... you two! Climbing a volcano should start before sunrise, with ice axes or trekking poles. Both climbers should have packs. You were very wise to call the hike. Biting off more than you were ready for... Still, you had some awesome views of the surrounding country. Glad you're both safe and whole, if tired.
Good call! At the very least, you need crampons to do that. Wouldn't hurt to have the essential survival items in your pack too. I was worried at the beginning that Kelly didn't have sunglasses. They say sun blindness is awful. Great adventure, enjoyed it just as much as if you would've summitted it!
The Cabin that my Grandparents owned in Red Feather Lakes Colo. had a Lake out in front of it & the three sisters were the backdrop behind the Lake & up of coarse it was simply out of this world & also Dead Mans Mountain could be seen from their front deck. It was called Dead Mans Mountain because a Man & a Bear fought each other to their deaths {Both the man & the Bear's}.......Boy do I miss the Cabin & the Mountains....
I enjoy your videos and appreciate what you bring to the outdoor community. If I may offer up a suggestion I would recommend the 10 essentials list for all your hikes short or long. I do believe REI has this list on their website or you can Google “ the 10 essentials for hiking”. That information may also be useful for people who watch your videos and are hitting the trail for the first time. I am a avid hiker and backpacker and you just never know. I fell this week and my biggest concern was how to hike the .25 miles out. My trekking poles saved me. My pride still smarts but I made it out. I was not as cautious as I should have been on slick rock. Keep it coming. Love your content. Stay safe out there!
WOW!! The scenery is absolutely gorgeous!! But, the trail looked dangerous, with the loose gravel and snow. I am so happy neither of you slipped or fell. Also the mosquitoes seemed so annoying!! Yet once again you scored a homerun with this video!! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!!
There may be some new hiking gear in your very near future!!! A steep trail, with snow and altitude is nothing to mess around with. I was glad to see you turn around. That is a beautiful place!! Thanks for another excellent video.
Oh my! I was really worried for you when you gave the stats on the hike. Altitude and elevation gain is one thing, but when you add snow it gets critical. I won't tell you the entire horrifying story, but a coworker of mine almost lost his life from a slide on the snow in Utah. Sadly, he did loose his leg. When there is snow involved, you really need crampons, ice axes, and clothing and food to stay a couple nights if things go wrong. I am happy your experience level allowed a good call in knowing when to stop. I knew you would love Bend for all kinds of reasons! Love you two. Have fun!
Thankyou for stopping before you risk getting hurt ❤. 😢 Great accomplishment in itself 😊. Stay safe always. Please go see Crater lake there before you go. It is so gorgeous ❤. Our favorite spot out west.
@@leanneneuman2719 we were there the 8th of June and there was still a foot of snow on the ground but it was like 75 degrees that day and the mountains look so beautiful with the snow on top and that royal blue water with the glistening diamonds effect will blow your mind. It wasn't too crowded when we were there either but this was like 20 years ago so I don't know what it gets like now. The drive into the park is absolutely beautiful too but watch out for deer because one crossed straight over in front of us while we were driving. There are many many deer in that area. Let me know how you liked it when you go please 😊
Just saw a video on RUclips that is using cuts from your videos. Channel is Final Affliction, the horrifying last minutes of Jaqueline Perry. Kinda weird. Thought you might want to know.
Back in the day I backpacked those three mountains several times. Congratulations of that hike guys! It’s beautiful! That’s exactly why I live here! Can’t wait to see your first choice city on the coast! If you’re in Newport goto Newport Cafe for breakfast it’s our favorite!! If you’re able to get the Rogue Brewery you won’t regret!! What a beautiful hike! You know how pictures and videos don’t do Justice! Seeing Kelly crawling up on snow in shorts! Blew my mind! So glad y’all turned back! I could see myself sliding off a cliff! Codys info on the beautiful things about nature is so interesting! Love the shiny black rocks! Safe travels and adventures!✨✨✨

We are going to Tillamook! We also have marion berry in the freezer. It so good!
I second visiting Tillamook Dairy. I also recommend a visit to Tillamook Forest Center. The river there is beautiful and a great nature center.

Micro spikes are good snow hiking too.
Great hike. The scenery was outstanding. You two looked really sharp in your dress clothes. Happy camping 😊.
So the moss hanging from the trees is what we call “grandpa’s beard” it is a great fire starter material.
Wow, what an incredible adventure! Loved watching your journey to summit the third tallest peak in Oregon. The van life camping and hiking combination is truly inspiring. Keep pushing your limits and exploring the great outdoors! 👏🏔
I love how Cody is a wealth of knowledge :)
Mountains are a different beast!! Thin air, snow and ice, And loose rocks all are available for your enjoyment, but try next time❤

I hope you see lots of the beaches in oregon, we have so many great ones.
You may want to grab micro spikes with the trecking poles if you want to hike like that
When I first moved to Central Oregon back in 95 the glaciers on the three sisters were much larger it's so sad how quickly they have melted
Glad you turned back and ate safe
That was awesome! Thank you
So glad you are in Oregon!!! I thought we saw you in Bend and now I know it was you. I climbed the south sister in my younger years, but it is a long hike. Very beautiful.

Kelly talking about trekking poles, my boyfriend and I have trekking poles and we haven't even gone hiking together yet. 😂

The kids are fun to watch!
Wow that hike scared me ( But this is one of my favorite Vlogs that you have done
Are you tent camping? Can you do a 24 mile hike in one day? Wow!
We were not. It was 12 miles round trip. We have done a few 14 mile hikes and one 16 mile in one day. But we agree, 24 is a lot
Valiant effort. Mosquitos and snow...don't see that in AR or TX.
Good to be circumspect and know your limits.
I love all of your videos but really enjoyed this one!!! ❤❤❤ looks like so much fun
Thanks so much!!
Just got some trekking poles. I need them just to walk on flat land. 😅
This is brilliant episode guys, such a enjoyable piece of cinematography!

My homestate. Great work! Go to little crater lake in Mt. Hood. Or go to the opal creek area.
Yea that could have ended bad no warm cloths snow from the start smart move
Thank you for sharing. The hike was great to see but not so much for you guys. Hope it is all good .The food made up for the hike.😂 Can't wait for the next one.😊 😊
Microspikes would have helped. Glad you made It back ok
Kelly, you really should think about carrying your own pack. At least water. Heaven forbid Cody falls off an edge, you’d be screwed. 😃
If chef 👩🍳 Kellie said the food was amazing then you know it was 😊
It would have been cool if you all had had something to slide down on all that snow😊
😊👍😊

Trekking poles and Yak Traks! It's literally deadly if you start sliding on steep snowy/icy terrain. You were smart.
That’s funny you say that. I told Cody that the guys running is us at Pinnacle on the East side. Pinnacle is just childs play compare to south sister.

What works good for mosquitoes skin so soft bath oil from Avon

We have summited many mountains in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. Not sure about Rainer.
