This song was recorded in 1970. Listen the sound! The organ sound, heavy, loud, electric, the guiar sound, agressive but clear. This fantastic and heavy sound they never had again when the band came back together in 1984.

Most excellent live recording of "Speed King" from these legends. "Good stomping rock'n'roll" . Most favorite section for me is from 5:10 to 5:44 , so exhiarating even after 40 years.

    Supeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb!!!
It's an absolute travesty that there ain't that many official live recordings of MK2 from this era. I know there are quite a few bootlegs but a lot aren't that good sound quality (which is a shame) as the band had such awesome stage power in the early 70's.
    Cheers for posting.

I didn't see it as a problem because I gathered it all up with no qualm about sound. Bootleg freaks give a shit not about that and can rate the performance enjoyable with a trained ear for it.

@BlackPurpleFish This is the definitive version of the song if ya ask me! SO much power.....so what if it speeds up....notice the song is much faster at the end than the beginning? Oh well ...that's live for ya! Anyway...absolutely killer version! Deep Purple kicking ass!!!!!!

Heavy rockin stuff from the 70s, jon lord playing an extrem distorted organ, blackmore on metal screaming guitar.
Glover and paice put an great dynamic rythm together, gillans voice is on top, he was better every time live til 1973 they disbanded... i still have to say they are the best early metal band better than zep and blacksab... alone if you hear the end of the song, were lord switch off/on his organ and let it roar like a beast, its amazing, cause nobody had done this stuff before, nobody played like blackmore before, the most influncal guitarplayer ever in the 70s.
    Long life dp mk2

Inspired by rock and roll classics to replace the regular encore song of Lucille.

I'd really like to get a true mono version of this. Not like this crap fake stereo.
