A great opportunity for a live version is from this very song, How Many More Times. There are two amazing videos, their very first live television performance for Denmark radio in 1969 which will show you how great they are from the very beginning and then Jimmy Page’s birthday concert in
1970 at Royal Albert Hall, which will show you how much they evolved this song in such a short time… hell do both, it’s all “yummy.” ;) Enjoy the Zeppelin ride, there’s none better.

What can you say? Everything led zeppelin created is just brilliant. To me there will never be another band that can capture the creativity the sound the soul and how they capture you and take you into another realm. I'm 60 now and I've been listening since I was 12. Other bands have tried to embrace the quality, sound and level of what was produced by the best musicians in the world. I can't thank led zeppelin enough for the bounce in my step when I hear them anywhere or at any given time. They just make your day better in every aspect. Thank you for your reaction

What you want to watch is "The song remains the same" Rockumentary. It was filmed during their Madison Square Garden concerts in NYC and you get lots of behind the scenes footage including their ex-pro wrestler manager Peter Grant (Best in history for the changes he forced). When I was a kid (raised on classic rock- thx mom!) the local military base theater had it playing for a month and I saw it at least 10-15 times. John Bonham in his dragster was EPIC!

“ But I’m in constant heaven”. With Zeppelin, that’s true. Jimmy is using a violin bow on his guitar to create those creepy sounds in the quieter section. I bought this album in April 1969 with my 15 th birthday money and was hooked for life. I think you both will be also. Zep destroys all rivals. Trust me, I’m old and I’ve seen them all.

This is my favorite song on album 1. Well, maybe it ties with Dazed and Confused. ;) The line, "Little Robert Anthony [Plant] wants to come and play" makes me smile every time. Since this was recorded very early in their career as a band, you might enjoying seeing them perform it during that time frame. Look for the Danmarks 1969 video. They performed four songs from the first album, this being one of them.

Robert Plant singing "When i was a young man i couldn't resist .... " cracks me up - he was nineteen when he was singing this. I also think the next live to do is the Danmark radio tv performance of this song. You'll see them right at the beginning and see how good they were off the bat. That performance was recorded before the first album was made. They had put songs together and took them on tour in Scandinavia to test them alive performances before they recorded them. It is a good quality film, black and white but very clear and you can see all four members. Dominica probelem is not a very big problem because you don't need to have a favourite you can love them all- they wouldn't be the same without any one member.

This is your best reaction! You was close of your passion and your sense of living. Andree and Dominica, I say that because, I know how you appréciés the music of LZ, and you are the first one to take pleasure to listening those so talented musicians with a charm and natural that apprécié very much. They was predestined with their talents to become Stars in the firmament of the rock and roll industry.
But contrary to what you said Dominica, in one of yours last reaction, you said (you imagined) that you imagine that yours viewers had understand your preferences in the rock music and they send those requests to you because they have learn about your taste. NO, in this era, 1970, everybody’s was a fan of LZ, and what you experience today as enthusiasm what everyone had discovered in those days in the seventies, the marvelous talents of the musicians of LZ. Then in those seventies, it is not just about LZ, He have also the Beatles, Rolling Stone, Doors, Dylan. NO, the fact is, in 1970 all lovers and creators of Rock music want to be a part of this mouvement contribution’s to the music of this era.
Merci for your natural reaction Andre et Dominica. My poor English it is because I write this from my French country, here in the Northern part of America.

I knew you two would love this one, just as I do. Exhilarating, isn't it? This is the closer from the debut album. In the middle section, you heard a little bit of the blues song 'The Hunter' originally done by blues man Albert King in 1967. Another of my favorite Led Zeppelin tracks is the closer from Led Zeppelin II, which I know you would also like. It's another bluesy track called 'Bring It On Home'.

The guitar Jimmy Page used on this first album was a Fender Telecaster which was given to him as a gift from Jeff Beck for having recommended him as lead guitarist for the Yard Birds. So this early album has a distinct sound that is unlike their other albums. And being their debut album, it was also one of their most inspired, experimental, and creative, IMO.

Listen to many versions...The early version in Denmark. later in Madison Square garden.... Both live unbelievable! But with this band, you need to listen to the studio versions and live versions both indeed.
Don't underestimate the silent one (John Paul Jones)!

To me the greatest rock band ever. This song was actually sampled from Willie Dixon, which actually sued Led Zeppelin and won. Led Zeppelin didn't do anything that anybody else in the day including the Rolling Stones The Beatles, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and so on didn't do. Everybody sampled from the American blues artists of the time. They credited Willie on several songs. Whole Lotta Love was the song that Willie Dixon brought the lawsuit( it was settled out of court) there were three more in question including this one which he was eventually credited for.

I don't think you know what sampling is as there is no sampling in this song.

@@Reno_Slim I don't think you know anything about the court case, some of the riffs were directly from Willie Dixon music. Hence the lawsuits and the million-dollar payout.

@@Reno_Slim Led Zeppelin has had many lawsuits from many artists against them. They have won some and they have lost some. They settled out of court with Willie Dixon for a million dollars. It's well known and well documented. That being said they're still my favorite band and Jimmy Page is the reason why I picked up a guitar in 1970. But you're welcome to your opinion and you can believe what you want.

Howlin' Wolf. - 'How many more years' probably had more of a claim

@@stevesharpe361 Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, and several others were managed and promoted on the chitlin circuit by Willie Dixon. They all played his songs. And it wasn't the song that Dixon was going after it was just certain riffs that he claimed Jimmy Page copied. If you look through the Led Zeppelin catalog Willie Dixon was credited on some of the songs, and now later on he has been added to the credits to some more songs. Led Zeppelin settled out of court with Willie Dixon over Whole Lotta Love because he felt it was a direct rip-off. The other songs were just a riff here and a riff there.

To be fair I don't consider this metal despite some heavy parts. I love that both John Bonham and Bill Ward were not only friends but both were essentially Jazz drummers along with Neil Peart.

@@Prone2Thrill It's the beginnings of metal, many elements are there on the first 2 albums, some of the riffs could have been on a BS record. I'm not a big fan of metal, LZ was far more melodic. And yes, JB had one of the best drumrolls ever, he's using it in this clip, like Buddy Rich.

I’m happy to have Sabbath take that title. I agree with Jimmy Page that the term “heavy metal” is a bastard term and really refers to a very specific genre of heavy rock. Zeppelin was world music. They did it ALL.

They also do a breathtaking version of How Many More Times during this live television performance from 1969 - you can find the whole set on RUclips look for "Danish" with your Led zeppelin search and select the longest video.
