How about creating a ranking system of 1 to 10 for each set of games of any pokemon after this! I guess it's much better than just approved or disapproved.
Raichu is my all-time favorite Pokemon, so thank you for not keeping us waiting too long for this analysis. It's too bad that its in-game usefulness is so situational. If they're going to give Pikachu so many buffs, they should give the same amount of buffs to Raichu, darn it!
FERALIGATR!!! Oh my god Feraligatr got so much better after the split! Flareon too. And Rapidash from the same gen. Absol is also a poster-child for the split there are a bunch of great examples.

Raichu is one of my top 5 favorite pokemon, the original holographic card for it was beautiful and i always pictured it being a badass saving lt. surge in the war he talks about
Or how about Misdreavus and Mismagius? They are underrated and are still pretty good as Misdreavus is not bad to have whilst waiting for a dusk stone so I think it could be interesting
Trent not necessarily. In all of the Kanto games at least Starmie gets stab in one or both types before it’s really needed with moves such as Bubble Beam, Water Pulse, or Surf for Water and Psychic too
I think false swipe gaming has already done a video about Steelix and onix and Mysticumbreon doesn’t cover any Pokémon that were already done by him (but FSgaming does competetive stuff and not ingame)
Okay, I'm probably going to get called out on this, but I honestly remember Pichu being an encounter in Route 1 for Gen 7. I honestly remember catching one on my first playthrough of Pokémon Moon so I could take care of my rival's starter, as I always chose Litten for it. I'll be taking a look to see if I am right and go from there, so don't flame me down here, please
u mean: "how BAD was Flareon"? cause Flareon has always been the worst Eeveelution due to it's awful speed and poor stats....plus it took until gen 6 for him to get a decent physical fire move...but it was too little too late
I think "How Good Was Staraptor" would be a really cool one to see, because its one or maybe even the best regional birds there ever was, and also it would be a pretty good video to make, considering how many people love Staraptor!
You know, there seems to be the myth that Raichu is unpopular or something... but that's not true... he's just less popular than Pikachu... but think about it... he'd have popularity just for being Pikachu's evolution... the "people don't like Raichu" thing is mostly just a joke that some people took seriously... That said... isn't it actually Jolteon that's killing Raichu's popularity? It's a pure electric type, not easy to get, and, based on base stats, it's not the best electric type... Pikachu has cuteness and mascot power.... but Raichu only has his connection to Pikachu...
The only time I’ve used Raichu was in Ultra Sun. I’m actually supprised that you didn’t include Pikachu since it’s your starter in Yellow and you can get a cosplay Pikachu in ORAS.
The reason that Raichu couldn’t be included in Yellow is that the starter will straight up refuse to evolve, and that’s the only in-game Pikachu! It is possible to obtain a Raichu through a glitch, but I think it’ll only be level seven, so you’d have to level it up and give it any TMs of moves you want it to know. So, from my personal experience of Pokémon Yellow, Raichu is only good in filling the PokéDex. Just stick with the Pikachu that you start out with.
For Sword and Shield, you don't need to evolve Pikachu at Level 36 for Thunderbolt, as since the move relearner is now free, you are free to reteach your Raichu moves, which one of those so happens to be Thunderbolt. That way you save your time and your watts.
Raichu is underrated, at least compared to our mascot. I love raichu, but another Pokémon underrated compared to its counter part, is gallade. Pretend you get the dawn stone the minute you get a Kirlia and there’s a suggestion. Edit: by the way, with the pokenav, it’s possible to get Pokémon with hidden abilities, so while it’s time consuming, you should take into account that it’s possible to get a gallade with justified in oras. If not, sneasel is another suggestion
I suggest Oddish/Gloom/Vileplume next! It has the same typing as one of the starters (can Vileplume "replace" Venusaur?) it is in many games but I only rarely hear anything about that line outside of being speedbumps in Leaf-Green speedruns.
gen 1 the sleeping giant had his issues as his special stat was pretty bad at 65....but gen 2 onward's the sleeping giant is a force to be reckoned with ever since he gained his iconic 110 sp.def (hell in Ultra Sun my Snorlax named Gargantaur despite being the teams tank...he was undoubtedly the MVP of the team)
Can you cover Bisharp next? I always thought it was pretty cool and wanted to use it. Pawniard just comes too late in B/W though, the only game i played with it. I still want it covered, though.
Raichu was one of my favorite pokemon, mainly because it saved me so much trouble in Leafgreen. Also because of that one guy in the anime, that taught it Hyper Beam. It was one of my favorite episodes.
I used Alolan Raichu in Let's Go Eevee (trade a regular Raichu in Saffron), and it actually does pretty good with Thunderbolt and Psychic, despite its otherwise-limited movepool. You can get it just before you battle Erika, and with her Grass/Poison types, it will come in handy there. And then you have the Rocket Hideout, and with all those Poison-types, a Psychic-type will dominate there. Alolan Raichu is one of the better Psychic-types available in Let's Go, especially if you don't have access to trade evolution for Alakazam. Both Electric and Psychic types perform well in Kanto, and Alolan Raichu gives you both of those in one Pokémon. The added experience that traded Pokémon receive also comes in handy.
You can’t get raichu in yellow unless you trade, and I’d also argue Electabuzz is better in crystal since it has better stats, better coverage since it can learn all the elemental punches and it doesn’t require friendship or a thunderstone to evolve.
In Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, the Safari Zone is accessible before Winona. Doesn't make much difference to it's usability but it does mean it can be helpful for her gym
In the ORAS series of games, thanks to the poke scanner, you can easily obtain the light ball on a wild pikachu and breed easily to get volt tackle on Raichu, so it isn't that horrible for being late game. Plus, it isn't like you HAVE to defeat Winona before you catch one.
A suggestion to maybe improve these “how good” videos, would be to give optimal movesets as well. For example, in the video you said raichu can’t do nothing crasher wake quausire, but raichu can learn grass knot/energy ball. Movesets, are just as important as the Pokémon themselves.
What about a Best Type Series where you analyze the whole region and then talk about the one type that seemingly would have the best advantage across the whole region and then parallel it with the worst as well.
I'd love to see the best types for each region. I've been trying to figure that out for quite of the few games I've been replaying lately like FRLG, RSE, DPPt, etc
I think Raichu mainly shines in the VGC format because of Lightning Rod, it’s okay on a play through team, but is generally outclassed by other electric types, notably Jolteon in the Kanto games, especially Red/Blue, Ampharos in the Johto games except Crystal, Manectric in the Hoenn games, Luxray in the Sinnoh games, and Partner Pikachu in Let’s Go Pikachu. The main appeals of it are its good speed, very solid mixed-attacking prowess, and only one weakness to Ground. It’s good because of its accessibility and typing, but is sometimes too underwhelming to be reliable
In my opinion raichu is better than luxray because in gen 4 the better STABs for luxray are: THUNDER FANG and thunderbolt, so if you want a special sweeper, raichu is obviously better because it has more special attack and speed, and luxray as physical/mixed sweeper sounds way too strange for me, because raichu has interesting physical moves as well.
Something possibly worth mentioning, for RSE at least, maybe ORAS (it's been a while since I last played), you don't *have* to fight Winona before you catch Pikachu. You're able to pass straight through Fortree and head to Lilycove, and on the way you can stop by the Safari Zone and catch a Pikachu. Though, I will say that Manectric is definitely better imo, just wanted to point out that you can catch it before it's no longer too helpful.
In Gen 6 you can technically have a Raichu by the first gym, although you won't get thunderbolt. In order to do this you have to use the Pokemon training thing that is used to EV train and if you complete every level there is a specific level you can do to have about maybe a 20% chance or higher of getting a thunderstone.
for those of you who are going to comment "you can't get a thunder stone before Viola" You can by super training. Once you max out ev's of a pokemon you can get secret super training which you can get stones for. I know this is obvious. But i know there are people who do not know
I used raichu on my team in let’s go eevee for shits and giggles because well you know the rival has pikachu. I wasn’t expecting it to be amazing but it was actually pretty great. It’s actually the first time I’ve ever used one on my team
Raichu can’t be better than Electabuzz in Crystal. You can get Elekid from the same egg you get Pichu, has access to elemental punches as soon as you hatch it, even learning thunderpunch at level 9. I’ll give you Raichu’s earlier access to thunderbolt, slightly higher base attack, and slightly easier evolution, but I would say it’s maybe 2nd best when Electabuzz is able to solo Lance, and pull its weight in many other battles.
Elekid is also much easier to raise since it’s base stats outclass Pikachu, and only evolves by level up, while still having access to it’s good TM moves.
Pokémon platinum with Raichu brings back a lot of memories, I have to spend so much of my time to have a Pichu with the Volt Tackle, first if you have to go and find a wild Pikachu and there’s only a 5% chance it will give you a light bulb I recommend using a Pokemon with frisk as a ability for that. Next you have to find another Pikachu (opposite gender) and then you breed to get a Pichu with Volt Tackle. That was a nightmare. Also guess what, it wasn’t even on the official team
Pretty good analysis, though in Crystal Electabuzz is way better tbh. Better speed, better special attack, and WAY more moves. The elemental punches, Thunder bolt by level up, Psychic, Dynamic punch. Plus you don’t need a stone to evolve it
Raichu has always been one of my favourites, I used one in let’s go Pikachu and I just love using it, I switch it between the Alolan Raichu from time to time but I ultimately prefer the Kanto version
