- The next leg of the NC500 takes us to a Park up on Gruinard Bay, a stones throw from the beaches and for hiking in the wilderness to the rear. Poolewe is then our next destination on the NC500, a small village on Loch Ewe surrounded by the mountains and the sea. We bike to the Arctic Convoy Memorial at the end of Loch Ewe and hike around Loch Kernsary and have some fabulous food at the Pool House Cafe.

Great video. I've been all over ullapool too, love it. Makes you feel alive.
Yes, lots to do and see in Ullapool, love it there😀 cheers...Andy&Michelle
Truely stunning gorgeous scenery, thanks for showing us.
Thanks Bob, Scotland really is something special isn’t it ❤️😊 Cheers…Andy&Michelle
the best of scotland , thankyou
Stunningly good place here😀 cheers…Andy&Michelle
Wow just wow!!!
Those beaches are stunning!
🚐☀️🚵♂️🏖🌊❤️
We loved the fact that only one of the beaches was visible from the road and the other 3 were surprises as we climbed over the rocks and walked through the woods 😀 😎☀️🏝☀️🌊Cheers...Andy&Michelle
Great filming. Makes me envious.
Thanks 😊 its a beautiful place 👍🏻
This NC 500 series should be top trending on RUclips. Absolutely loved it.
Thanks Himanshu thats a great comment for us to read 😊 glad you are enjoying it, Cheers...Andy&Michelle
Stunning footage guys worthy of a television documentary take a bow 👏
You are too kind Colin!! 😊 thanks very much...Andy&Michelle
Fabulous trek as usual. Scotland is beautiful. 👌
Yes, Scotland is amazing for trekking 😀 Cheers...Andy&Michelle
So beautiful to see Scotland in all it's glory thank, you both for taking us on your road trips 😀
Thanks Nidge, glad you are enjoying our road trip 😀 (we are starting our next one in a few days time, heading into Europe) 😀 Cheers...Andy&Michelle
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures Oh I would love to see that too👍🤞😊
Beautiful scenery 😊👌Nice couple👏👏😊Thank you xx from Grace a Scot who hasn't visited Poolewe, yet!👍♥️
Thanks Grace😊 and its always the way when its on your doorstep! Andy & Michelle x
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures That is true👍😄
I still can’t believe the weather you guys had in Scotland! That video was superb, the fishing rod 360 and the drone footage always my favourites and some spectacular walks too! Gruinard bay is gorgeous and the germ warfare experiments with anthrax on the island back in 1942 still controversial to this day. The solution in the eighties and nineties to force the indifferent government to clean it up was typically cheeky and very Scottish ! The Scottish trip videos you’ve published are quite a spectacular watch, I’ll be watching them for years. Next videos the E-bikes!!!! I had my first ever ride on one this week OMG it was fantastic - can’t wait to get ours in the Spring 🤩 can’t wait to see the next video guys, thanks for sharing them with us !!!!
Glad you liked it Ian and even more happy about the pronunciations (or are you just being kind! 😀) Thanks for the interesting fact, you are the walking encyclopaedia of Scotland!! Cheers...Andy&Michelle
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures pronunciations all good in this one and the two of you don’t look as cold as you did in Glencoe 😂
Enjoyed every minute of that. Absolutely stunning scenery and camera work.
Thanks Paul, we too were amazed at the scenery when we watched it back in the edit! such a beautiful place, Cheers...Andy&Michelle
What a landscape!
We love wild Barron area’s 🤩
Yes, it certainly was really Barron there, we didn't see anyone after the first mile on this one. ⛰👀 Cheers...Andy&Michelle
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures sounds perfect 👌🏼
Really love your editing , the scenery is stunning I really fancy getting a drone ,
Thanks 😊, the drone shot of the coastline in the video is one of our favourites, it looked beautiful on the ground but when we saw it from the drone...wow 😀 Cheers...Andy&Michelle
My kids just watched this with me. " how is his camera floating far away from him?" says the youngest one. "Oh, wow, they're doing mt biking too like us. When can we start going again??" said my daughter! We still have nearly a metre of snow on the ground, so it might be a few weeks yet 😁 gorgeous scenery in the Highlands 👍🏻😃
Ha ha, hope you told your son it’s a magic camera! (The wonders of technology!) we’ve taken our ebikes out in the snow but not a metre, yes great scenery in Scotland 😀👍
I'm enjoying your Scottish videos, they are definitely inspiring us to try again to make it there next year (had to cancel 3 trips so far) you were very lucky with the weather. My holidays in Scotland as a child were always very wet!
Glad you are enjoying them Alex, we did have a few rainy days up there but I guess thats to be expected. We too had many failed attempts in the past but lockdown forced our hand, so glad we finally made it, Cheers...Andy&Michelle
Loved the video. Lovely to see someone visiting the WWII buildings related to the Arctic convoys. We visited a couple of years ago and it was really interesting. Firemore beach was fabulous too and great for kite flying, 😊
Glad you liked it, we almost stayed on firemore beach but then decided we needed to be making more miles south, Cheers…Andy&Michelle
Really enjoyed that. Some of our favourite places. Been going to Poolewe for almost 20 years. Last there end of April when we pitched up in the very same spot as you on the campsite! We did the Loch Kernsary walk too with similar weather. Looking forward to the next episode.
Glad you enjoyed it, this was our first trip to Poolewe, great spot there near the front of the site 👍 Cheers...Andy&Michelle
Your trips are really impressive and great for mental healthy. Its a kind of pitty that you havent so much subscribers. Thank you!
Thanks, really nice of you to say 😊 we are working on growing our channel, hopefully with time we will get the higher numbers, Cheers...Andy&Michelle
You find some amazing places. Great editing as usual 👏
Thanks, this one was a recommendation from a friend. It would have been easy to drive past so really happy we were told about it. Cheers...Andy&Michelle
Some nice location guys, thanks for sharing :)
You know all about those nice locations too! Cheers...Andy&Michelle
Stunning 😍 🍾🍾🍾
Thanks 😊 Andy&Michelle
Inspiring...thanks for sharing guys .
Thanks, glad you enjoyed 😀 cheers.. Andy&Michelle
Good series of videos. ps it’s pronounced Pool You 🏴🙏
Thanks John, appreciate the correct pronunciation, we had no idea, the next time we visit Scotland we’ll be better on the names! Cheers…Andy&Michelle
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures No worries, there’s lots of places up that way that are tricky, I made a boo boo of Kylesku (Kyle Skew) for years 😝
Great video. If we ever get a motorhome will try squeeze in that stopover next to the beach.
Thanks Paul, there is a campsite 4 miles away so you could drive down to the place where we stayed if you are ever in the area. I wouldn't be tempted to walk it though, its a steep road, Cheers...Andy&Michelle
Beautiful 👍💙❤️
Thanks ❤️Andy&Michelle
Fantastic footage guys
Thanks 😊 Andy&Michelle
Excellent as per normal need to back track now and watch the rest of the trip. Somehow notifications weren’t coming though 👍😎
There’s a few to watch! Hope you enjoy, we had an amazing time in Scotland…Cheers.. Andy&Michelle
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures Thank you Michelle hope you have been enjoying my current vlogs.
Fantastic photography and video, really captured the stunning scenery of that part of Scotland- we we in that area one / two months after you but you really had the better weather !
Thanks Stewart, we were lucky, that was our best weather day which coincided with the park up by the beach! We'd had hail a couple of days before! Cheers...Andy&Michelle
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures it was interesting seeing you do the “south” side of Loch Ewe, we went the other through Aultbea & Mellon Charles - certainly yompted a few miles over this hills
Freedom.... Too soon pmsl 😜👌💭💭💭💭
Not really got a clue what you are meaning but I hope you liked it 😀 Cheers...Andy&Michelle
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures you sure you we're in another galaxy lol
I used to go motorhoming back in the 80s with my family...but never got any higher than Poolewe.
Not too keen on the nc 500 West Side...looks dismal and I belong Scotland.
I hav to say...your m...Home looks good for relaxing in...I really enjoyed the tour round.
My name is Colin my wife is Annie.
Take care...I really enjoy your vids.

great vid...... rollon
Thanks Rod 😊 cheers Andy&Michelle
Hi Guys,
I live in Glasgow and I’m sure I heard Michelle shout boobs that day. LOL.Apart from the scenery and tranquility the best thing is I think that’s it’s nearly empty .
Cheers James
Ha Ha 🤣 LOL...a good job it was nearly empty with Michelle shouting boobs!!🤣 Cheers...Andy&Michelle
We have a wee beach that we go wild camping to a few times a year in a place just along the road from a village called Skipness in Kintyre with a cafe/bar called the Seafood Shack . Well worth a visit. It’s our wee happy place.🥰
Cheers James
Great video as always. Next time you come across fresh scallops, try eating them raw. Amazing taste.
Thanks Craig and Judy, we like Sushi so will try it next time, those from Ullapool would have been ideal to try! Not sure about the local supermarket. Cheers..Andy&Michelle
Fantastic scenery.
You never seem to have a problem with midges, what time of year were you there to avoid them?
Lovely film. Again.👍
Hi Bob, I think we were lucky, it was early in the season (May) and it was quite windy so kept the dreaded midges away! Cheers...Andy& Michelle
Superb walk, guys. As usual. Would you say it would be a suitable walk with a dog? Siberian Husky.
Thanks 😀 there is one section about a quarter the way round where the path narrows and you are by the edge of the gorge - not scary at all but I can't see it being a problem for a Siberian Husky, the hardest part of the walk is about half way round trying to find the route, I'd recommend following on GPS if you can, cheers...Andy&Michelle
Aw what a fabulous vlog . I would love to join you both on one of your walks one day :0)
Glad you liked it Sue 😊 we’d love to take you along with us, let’s make that happen in 2022 😀🥾 cheers.. Andy&Michelle
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures aw thank you Michelle . That would be fantastic ! Xxx
We were having extreme withdrawal symptoms so we decided that we would have to watch this in bed. Another great vlog. Andy, your graphics are out of this world. Michelle, was that a pair of trainers you were wearing on the beach? 😂 Boobies!!! LOL. I would’ve took the same route as Andy across the river. Great stuff guys. 😊👍🏻😍
Glad you liked it😊 its such a beautiful spot, can rely on Michelle to lower the tone though 🤣 it was amazing to spend the last weekend with you, it was a laugh a minute 😀 Cheers...Andy&Michelle
Beautifully filmed and wonderfully cinematic. Was this much earlier in the year and did you have any problems with midges?
Thanks 😊 Yes this was filmed back in May, there was so much great footage from Scotland that its taking us ages to make the videos, the Scotland series will be complete in about a month and then onto the Pyrenees where we are currently now, parked up at 4,603ft. No issue with the midges in Scotland when we were there back in May thankfully, Cheers...Andy&Michelle
Oh! Yes! The dreaded midges!😬😄🤣
Myself and family went camping on Isle of Skye in July.Wenr dreading the thought of midges, but thankfully nothing at all🤷♀️😄
Great videos. Planning a nc500 trip with my dad in april.
What is the hike called you did at the carpark near the beach?
Thanks! Greetings from the netherlands
Thanks 😀 and hello the Netherlands, the hike is called Gruinard Beach from our Wikiloc page, I’ll put a link on the description of the video tomorrow 😀 have a great trip to Scotland 👍 cheers…Andy&Michelle
Great watching the videos, when was it filmed. Just planning trip and obviously working out best time to go ?
Hi, this was filmed in May, it’s different to choose a good time for Scotland, it’s so variable throughout the year , a couple of days before this video we had hail! Cheers…Andy&Michelle
Hi Guys, loving your van vids just subscribed, I’m looking to buy a drone what one do you use am not looking to pay the earth what do you recommend.
Hi Mark, thanks for subscribing 😀we currently use the DJI mini 2, it’s just over £400. DJI are market leaders by a long way, this model is less than 250g which gives you more freedom to fly in places heavier drones can’t but still is 4K, if you want to spend more there’s a DJI mini 3 just released but that’s about £800. I can 100% recommend either of these two depending on what you want to spend 😀 there may even be some good second hand mini 2s now the 3 is out, cheers Andy&Michelle
Hi Andy,
Thanks for your response I have seen this on the bay what’s your opinion if you don’t mind the look item no 185235076403

Hi Andy,
Sorry to trouble you agin, as I’m only just starting out again after many years would you let me know what walking app you guys use ,

@@markneville5235 no problem, ask away 😀 we use OSMaps and Wikiloc, we've made a video on them 😀 ruclips.net/video/OCosqGGUKrw/видео.html
Where did you wild camp?
Hi, we wild camped on Gruinard Bay 😀
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures was it on the caravan park ?
@@rodsteele8513 it was on the carpark just down the hill from the campsite
The correct pronunciation of Poolewe is pool-you
Thanks 👍 cheers…Andy&Michelle
Cracking video, but you pronounced Poolewe wrong. Its said Pool-you. Poll Iù
Thanks , glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the correct pronunciation, I dare say we’ve got a few others wrong in the rest of the Scotland Series! Cheers.. Andy&Michelle
I never actually trust anything Andy says, "It's not too bad" he says dipping his toe into the frozen tundra! You see, Andy took the water route, I knew he'd have to.
I have to say, you guys really sell the Motorhome dream. However, I'm still not buying one :-)
This isn’t good, you are getting to know me to well!! You’ll come to the dark side one day! 😀cheers…Andy&Michelle
Early this year Gruinard Island was ablaze from end to end in a wet part of the year? Had the ministry of defense been setting off fires to kill a re - emergence of anthrax on the island, after they said it had been irradiated in the 90's. We will never know probably ? Work was done to clear the island of anthrax after mysterious deaths of livestock had been happening on a regular basis opposite the island on the mainland. Porton Down purposely infected the island during the second World War with anthrax as a biological warfare experiment in conjunction with the USA. State sponsored vandalism of the highest order.
By the way grass snakes are green, adders have a zig zag pattern. What you saw there was a large slow worm or another name for it a deaf adder, i think.
We read about the anthrax while staying there, I'm glad we didn't try to venture onto the Island, such a shame for an outstandingly beautiful place
