Damn it’s true, I really do miss the national teams and the regional styles. We used to have France vs Sweden as an example.
WSGC tournaments were entertaining because it was like a word cup of CS where countries would get their best players from different teams and they would essentially be that countries super team. (Bar the French because they were very particular about certain players playing with one another.)
International teams definitely muddled the scenes.

I think the only explanation about jks is that maybe it is about the money , there have been rumors that they wanted to cheap out somewhat but niko and hunter are kinda a package deal and monesy is big enough that you cant cheap out ? Heard a bad rumor that niko got the same salary but got soft power as before instead as a result wich is scary.
i don't know much about how cs orgs are run but Niko got saying soft power as a contract stipulation is hilarious
Valve should take inspiration from the way the Fighting Game scene works. Like there should be some backing of some kind for regional/t2 scene lans. There is just soooo much money coming in from cases. Give ways for players/teams to break in.
This MNMZ guy had a good point about not catering to people with bad PC's but framed it in the worst way possible. You don't want a game to be catered to a GTX1050 rig from 2015, but you also don't want it to only be playable on 4090. An RTX2070 is the perfect middle ground for what the target should be.

I can’t not fathom why they would bench jks. Everyone knows hooxi isn’t a great igl, nobody would say he’s in their top 10 IGLs, he doesn’t frag or if he gets two kills it’s “Gigachad this, GIGACHAD that!!”, every round it’s 4v5 and they STILL peak into ppl one by one instead of together, it’s crazy how much they do that.

Why didn’t they try to get snappi or cadian? They even should’ve took a pay cut to get them if they were financially tight. I’m sure the players want victories more than money and if course, once they start winning they can ask for more anyways.
Every game they win currently it’s by the skin of their teeth, like 15-13 against teams they should be utterly trouncing.

The one thing I remember about 2018 TL is Taco making huge plays. He was no longer Cold's bitch and was asserting himself. I feel like he ruined his career by leaving because I haven't seen anything like that out of Taco since. If anything, he regressed to being passive and taking up the IGL role and further ruining his career. It's kinda sad.

1:32:20 it’s fair to put the blame on Valens but I don’t think it’s all his fault. With people like GamerDoc running the esports division behind the scenes, it wouldn’t surprise me if she had the power to override Valens ideas bc I don’t think this was entirely all his idea.

yeah for real i've mentioned this a couple of times, pointed out what the problem was & basically explained how easy it is to fix, its really hard to listen to especially during hot take point made because his mic is just so much louder than kassad's & on this show, his "apprehensive" kind of inflections & cadence actually clip on the sound-only level, fully in the red
it became like the top comment for that so thorin probably saw it & i hope he takes it into account because everyone agrees on it & as a sound engineer i can assure it's serious

I usually don't watch thorin because I can't understand what he says most of the time, improving the mic audio would definitely help people like me. I use subtitles with thorin but they suck ass because of the thick accent. I have no problem listening to RL though

Thats some crazy guessing and on the same level as people saying Niko and Monesy best friends and thats why he didnt want to go alone to Falcon. Im leaning more towards that they cant afford JKS and Niko probably negotiated better pay after talking to Falcon and they feel like they need an IGL.

I remember playing hundreds of hours on CSGO with a pentium chip laptop getting 30fps that would go as low to 8fps depending on what’s on the screen. I would have the absolute time of my life when I played. If the game is good, people will NOT care about the fps.
*some people would not care. I wouldn't play csgo or cs2 if I couldn't display as may frames as my refresh rate
@@alfred9805 yeah but I don’t think the fps drop off would be that drastic, you'd probably lose 10-15 frames. But the literal GOAT of counter strike didn't wanna play CS2 because it didn't feel good. I'd bet you that a ton of other players stopped playing CS too because of the inconsistent game mechanics.

Naf and JKS have similar roles I feel, might have too much role overlap. Naf mastered his game, I'd rather not have him sacrifice to give space to another player when you can just find a better player for the role that's necessary

I’m with Rich. jks might be the most overrated player ever.
I'm not going to say I know more than him, but I do think that the complexity project in hindsight made JKS look worse than he actually is. The biggest problem was that he was paid so much and performed badly, but from what I can see from all of the blamef-led teams, players that don't have a defined role in the team struggle very hard to put up numbers because blamef isn't with the pack to help them fit under his system. Having a player like jks with blamef just seems like such a terrible role overlap, he was definitely not placed in the right role for him. We immediately saw his impact with both karrigan in the substitute run and then later in g2 when he helped them win Katowice while having highest rating out of the team in that event. I'm not going to say he's the greatest gift to cs, but I don't think he is the MOST overrated player ever. I feel like someone like Flamie who rode the navi roster for much much longer than he should have would fit that bill more.
Calling him overrated is fine, but kinda ridiculous. The things Rich said about JKS and the people who thought he was decent during his faze stand-in days were much more polarizing than that.

all he said was, if your fps jumps from 500 to 150 yes it will be noticeable and annoying, but that if you lock it, your experience will be better and more consistent.

JKS is so overrated. Mediocre player who was very good years ago but the community loves him. He has NiKo, m0nesy and hunter to open up rounds but still rarely finds impactful lurks. Even his CT side was streaky, especially as of late. Countrymen of NiKo and hunter can not only be more impactful in rounds, but also in terms of morale.
Niko backing out on his deal says everything about him. He is unreliable, indecisive, and immature. He is not a man of his word but I guess he plays video games and has no clue how to be a man.

If this track record of math errors, balance errors etc both make it into the game, and into interviews, and they both accidentally and voluntarily show you extreme incompetence, doesn't that indicate that they're not competent in the office as well?
Valorant is horrible, but it has stable performance on shitbox PCs and has 128 tick servers, CS2 could easily have targeted lower spec and also had higher tickrate with better performance if that was the objective.
valve use fps as an excuse to ignore the community. when we ask for 128 tick or what's happened recently, that's when fps matters apparently to valve
but they'll release cs2 with a million obnoxious effects (like water) that no one asked for and is proven to tank fps
