I was literally just wondering why so many bodybuilders have shorter range of motions, including Jay. This perfectly answered my question!! Thank you 🙏
@@alaron5698 somehow it worked for them...because you have to keep in mind that they're seasoned pros who have many years of training experience behind them and so they can easily tell what works & what doesn't work for them. They're more in synch with how their muscles respond.
Cheers Jay! Well after 20 years of heavy lifting I have my thoughts on full range, for me the negative points on concentric and eccentric are the moments where rather the joints and tendons are involve, you don’t involve the muscle until 5-10% of full range is already accomplished, so I would stay fit with constant tension under 90% range which takes care more on the joints and avoids injury, specially after 35 years old. You don’t win more muscle by stretching like a gymnast, rather you lose time under tension. My humble opinion! Thank you for this quick vids! Regards from Germany!
Just because Jay does partial reps on certain excruciating doesn’t mean you have to. He’s a 4x Mr Olympia! He knows what works for him and that’s what he’s trying to say. Everyone is different and what works for him won’t work for you.
Recently started using less RoM on chest press and it's been incredible. My chest is exploding since switching it up, you just need to focus and pay attention - you can feel the contraction that works for you.
But the 138 pound personal trainer at Super Duper Fitness Club says full range of motion is the only way to train. And he is certified. So, sorry Jay, wrong again.
Mike has slowly been turning towards loaded eccentrics! But I still suppor full rom for most people for one reason i have experienced myself. Mostly in pulling exercises, there are a group of stabilizing muscles that I only feel getting hit at the top of a row. I can barbell row 150 but only with my elbows reaching my side. Drop down to 80 and I can get each rep with elbows behind my back. Got me sore in places i didn't know existed the first time and every meso I do a freeweight row movement!
The best is doing unilateral shoulder exercises and do extra reps/sets on your weaker side Or you can like start with your weaker side then match the reps with you stronger side (for example if you got 12 reps on your weaker side then only do 12 in your stronger side) 👍
Smfh... those aren't contradictory things. An isolation movement is one that focuses on or primarily on a single muscle. In the video, the lat. Full ROM doesn't change that isolation... it enhances it. The argument here should be isolation vs compound
When most people do “full range” what they’re really doing is just moving the weight and disengaging when they’re fully extended. What he’s saying is that’s counterproductive you need to have constant tension on the muscle. The reason most people don’t do that is because it’s actually much more difficult to keep that up for 10-12+ reps but you get more out of it overall then constantly engaging and disengaging. It’s actually close to the full range it’s about stopping right where you feel it’s about to disengage
Im on a bulking phase right now, and I've put on eight pounds in two weeks. Then Im gonna clean up and cut. Your advice is invaluable and you are one of a kind amongst those who already defy the average.

They use steroides….
He got it from his arch nemesis Ronnie Coleman who employed partial reps on most of his pressing movements. No wonder Ronnie was so huge!
The problems when regular joes try to copy that style without understanding it fully.
Can't say I buy that his partial reps are actually full range of motion for him "because of his size." How is that supposed to work?

full range of motion, I like it
Umm not exactly
Great working with you this weekend, Jay. Another successful Desert Classic. All the best to you and thanks for the tip 🤙🏻

It may take a little time but you will figure it out in a short period of time. Golden lol.
I don't even think Jay himself understood what he was trying to say.
Lol he is 4 times mr Olympia get your brain checked 😅😅
I did my friend

Thanks for that, Champ!
Thank you for that answer. Plus, a lot of people work out different ways.
Thanks, pure gold information

That's cause the ROM for the chest is relatively short. And if the bar is touching your chest..you're doing it wrong 😮
Jay is the best!!
Happy Easter Jay hope you and your family have a wonderful day love you brother ❤
Thank you Champ. 💪🏻. ML&R
Simply the best! 💪💯👍
This is why you’re the GOAT Jay! Always giving great tips and advice about training even after retirement!
Thank you

Both variations work for me 😊

Good advise bro
Look at those friggin arms. Unbelievable

You see, it's Jay Cutler. He's a legend. He's known things for years now.
But, you got to find out what works for you.
You explained 3 different ways ther Jay
this is so technical and that is why he became Mr O
But the 138 pound personal trainer at Super Duper Fitness Club says full range of motion is the only way to train. And he is certified. So, sorry Jay, wrong again.
Muscle isolation is not separate from range of motion.
It can be for relative movements and individual body mechanics.
@@gdog3finally doesn’t change what I said
It all works.
Super star Jay Cutler
It's more full range of tension rather than full range of motion because at some point you will lose the tension or it will be reduced at least
Nice aunty❤
Today on 'Excuses for Bad Form, Doing 1/100th Reps and Relying on Tons of Gear', we're checking in with our regular host....
😮
say something about spin bikes !
Jay looks so aesthetic here, crazy how body builders got bodydysmorphia they try to look like ninja turtles….
Yeah I mean look at Jay’s peak size back then, his winning record, and tell him that he was really doing the exercises the wrong way lmao.
They aren’t mutually exclusive in fact they go hand in hand.

@@johnreed2272 yea elbows back is the best form que for rows in my opinion.
Jay really needs train his biceps
My right shoulder is a little small than my left shoulder what is best range or isolation movements
More reps on the overhead press with ur left hand than ir right hand
The best is doing unilateral shoulder exercises and do extra reps/sets on your weaker side
Or you can like start with your weaker side then match the reps with you stronger side (for example if you got 12 reps on your weaker side then only do 12 in your stronger side) 👍
how many sets per muscle for one workout would you say is best?
Weekly volume about 16-24 sets is more than enough for every muscle group . For legs it can be 30 sets including calves
These are not mutually exclusive though.
Train the muscles not the joints.

His short range of motion were actually he copied from the Goat himself, Big Ronnie Coleman!
