Thank you so much, Tommy, for reacting to my request. Pink Floyd being my second favorite band of all time, every time I can hear your take on one of their tracks is always really exciting. This song always meant alot to me because it speaks to the joys we experience in life and how we have to hold on to them during the bad times we experience. I love this band for the same reason I love TOOL,because there songs always make you really think about things. Thank you again brother for checking it out.
Excellent selection, this song is sadly overlooked by most reactors in favor of tracks from Dark Side and The Wall. This has long been one of my favorites though. Love the Latin-style acoustic guitar, it meshes with their music so well.
Tool is probably a top ten band of mine, Floyd is my favourite of all time, you are right they both have a similarity in that they take you on a journey/abduction but at the end you have Stockholm syndrome and can help but be in awe.
Pink Floyd songs are a rite of the inner soul and have been since the 70's for me. Thank you for your beautiful review.
my favorite pink floyd song 🧡
I'm glad I finally made it to the party! This was amazing!
Pink Floyd has the ability to propel us into an altered state of consciousness.
I took my first LSD to "Dark side of the moon" .. Great album but not on LSD =)
Recommend you watch the live version Pulse re-edited. Magical
The "Remember that Night" Version is much better, due to the longer Acustic Guitar ending, check it out
I almost shed a year when I saw them perform this live in 1994, still one of the BEST concerts I've been too
I can imagine dude!
This album came out in 1994 and I remember listening to this album and especially this song for a long time, I loved and still love it. Back then I was 16-17 years old and the taste truly was sweeter and the grass was greener. I had no idea what this song was about, I listened to the music not the text. Today I understand the meaning of this song. The irony.
Thourouly enjoyed your reaction. Love watching your journey of Floyd.
Really glad you enjoyed this!
I think I’ve said it before. I know these songs for ages. But you let me experience them again from your point of view. And that is important to me, it’s like going back in time with new ears and innocent feelings. Thank you so much ❤
Dan, I'm glad we could go through this!
Sublime Floyd, iconic slide guitar ending resonates in your mind.
I love this track 🙌🏼, makes me feel a little sad, to me this song reminds me myself and my childhood friends growing into adulthood, finding our way in life, and gradually losing contact 😔.
Dude that's where my mind went.
One of my favorite pink floyd songs i just listened to it today!
one of my favorite PF song for all time
Man that is touching at the end.
Floyd are like your family, best friends, and psychologists rolled into one.
Welcome to the fold fellow floydian👍
One thing that has always impressed me with Pink Floyd is that their lyrics are thoughtful, rich in story and meaning and often are very moving. Definitely no fluff here. Thanks for this!
Exactly, the way they paint with their words is so special.
to me,this song has always been about the time gone by,our youth and young adulthood when everything was within grasp and when every day and night was magic.....until life consumes you and puts you in a box and you look back thinking about how much better things were..."the light was brighter, the taste was sweeter, the grass was greener".......with friends surrounded......bittersweet☺
One of my favorite songs ever. So mesmerizing.
listening to Pink Floyd is always such a journey !
I love your interpretation of this. This song has special meaning to me because of childhood memories. I first heard this song as a live performance at the end of a programme on television. The next day I went out to buy the album (on tape, showing my age). It was the first album I bought for myself. It was the year it came out, so I must have been around 12. I listened to it constantly. You've transported me back to then with this video. And as always, your emotional response has brought out emotions of my own. I really need to be a more frequent viewer of yours. I feel the need to listen to it now. Thank you for this.
There's a certain degree of maturity required to fully appreciate Pink Floyd. It can suddenly hit people at varying stages of their life. And when it does you know it. When you're ready you're ready. Then there's no turning back.
You really must check out the live Pulse version of this. It is great.
I first saw this video on the big screen behind the band when they played this song on their 1994 tour. I was tripping on acid and it damn near blew my mind…
This is my favorite late era floyd
You can cover a Pink Floyd song, but you can't cover the essence of Floyd
Greetings from Miami. This is truly a Pink Floyd classic. Even if you don’t do a reaction to it, try to check out the Pulse live version of High Hopes.
Please try to react to Body Count doing a cover/version of "Comfortably Numb" (yes that one), with the one and only Mr. David Gilmour shredding the guitar. You'll be amazed. If you don't know, Body Count are a american metal band with the rapper Ice-T on vocals.
Article on Rolling Stone magazine: "Ice-T approached Pink Floyd this year about the possibility of his heavy-metal band Body Count cutting a version of “Comfortably Numb” with new lyrics for their upcoming LP Merciless.
“When we originally contacted their publisher, they said ‘no,'” Ice-T tells Rolling Stone via Zoom from his home in New Jersey during a day off from shooting Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. “It was not a diss, but kind of like ‘Pink Floyd doesn’t do samples. They don’t do ads, either.’ We were fucked. I wasn’t going to take the lyrics and put it on another track. I was just going to burn it.”
The situation changed once Ice-T’s team circumvented the publishers and took the proposed track directly to Waters and Gilmour via their managers. “Once we got to David, he was like, ‘Fuck, yeah. I love this song. I approve it,'” says Ice-T. “And then Roger listened to it and his only comment was, ‘Who’s singing?’ When he heard it was Ice-T, he approved it.’ To have two people who sit on two opposite sides of the fence agree on a song, that means it must be good.”
And (I add this because it's not on this article), David Gilmour not only approved it but he also said that he wanted to play on it!
Keep rockin. Peace 🖤🤘
Agreed, it really worked well too
I'm not a fan of Pink Floyd but it was interesting to listen to
Pink Floyd sends awareness to places outside of the routine. I love this song immensely. The video was going for cognitive dissonance. There are moments when images kicked you out of the groove, though, IMO. I do applaud the way they committed to the experiment, though. ••• I'm at that age you were talking about. I probably ought to be playing this a lot and reflecting. But, honestly I play Electric Callboy a whole lot and Pink Floyd almost not at all at this point. ••• PEACES!!!
Yea dude the images here were wild! I love knowing you get down to electric callboy!
Yay, finally a good time to listen to the original version of this one. Already an absolute fan of this song's cover from Nightwish, but I had always put off listening to the original version
edit: while I love this MV, I have to give this one to Nightwish (I am ofc biased af), but man did they take this song's undeveloped potential and take it to the next level this song deserved
This is like comparing apples to oranges. The original is a prog rock song, while NW made a symphonic metal adaptation. Two very different songs, with a very different feel, and the preference for most people will be biased by their preference for prog rock vs symphonic metal.
Oh man, they are both great. I love the anger/despair in night wishes tribute but the melancholy wisdom in the original hits really hard. This is a great Gilmour song and this from a diehard Roger Waters fan.
