    Pink Floyd an English rock band formed in London 1965. A gift given to the world!

  • @richardmillard5498

    Absolutely right. It's an exchange between a doctor and patient. This was written by former bassist Roger Waters who was taken ill before a performance and treated with strong painkillers that made him feel so numb he couldn't remember playing the concert. The song is in the concept album "The Wall" which follows the life of someone with increasing mental illness and isolation who builds a wall in his mind. Check it out and the full length feature film that was made based on the songs. In the Floyd tour of the Wall, the band played while a huge Wall was built around them showing animations while they played. it ends with the Wall being pulled down. Waters left the band and continued touring with The Wall after leaving the band which was fair enough as he wrote nearly all of it.
    Waters wrote most of Floyd lyrics until he fell out with the rest of the band and left about 12 years before this concert. In the Pulse concert the band play 3 numbers from The Wall, Another Brick in the Wall part 2 (which was one of their only hit singles) Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell, the last two being their final encore. Much of Floyd's song material has serious commentary on social and or political issues, check out The Wall, Wish You Were Here, Animals and Dark Side of the Moon which they perform in its entirety in the second half of Pulse.
    Floyd bucked the trend of short pop songs right from the beginning playing really long, sometimes psychodelic numbers like Interstellar Overdrive, Astronomy Domine, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, The sinister Careful With That Axe Eugene and check out the 22 minute Echoes, an absolute classic.
    Looking forward to your next reaction. You won't find many disappointments whatever you listen to
    BTW, I was in that audience. Floyd almost from the start used quadrophonic sound for most of their live shows. So you will have to imagine a 20000 audience sitting in the clearest perfect (and loud) surround sound making it one of the most emotional experiences of my life. 5 million people witnessed that tour and all feel the same way.
    Enjoy you journey of discovery.

    One of the greatest moments in Rock history.
    Now go for Sorrow or The Great Gig in the Sky from the Pulse concert. Or you go deeper into that rabbit hole and start reacting to their albums.
    Once you come to the bottom of that hole you should listen to the live show in Oakland 1977. The angriest Floyd show with great versions of some of their songs. Sadly that exists only as bootleg.

    Well that one really got to you mate. I see you took my advice & didn't just listen to the lyrics. A lot of reactors don't take any notice of advice from those who are in the know, so my opinion of you has just gone up. I shall now sub your channel mate. One more piece of advice is to not take your eyes off the screen. I know it's hard when the music is so amazing but Floyd always have such great visuals like the mirror ball opening up & The round screen at the back tilting over & you will miss out. They do some faster stuff as well but I'm sure you'll get around to that.
    Great reaction dude. As us soft southerners say "Jolly good show old chap".

    First of all 98 million dollars worth of equipment in 1994 money! Next 233,000 watts of power that they push through their lighting and sounding equipment! They only turn up the sound about 2/3 of the way for absolute perfect sound with no distortion. Then they put speakers on the stage on both sides of the audience behind the audience and above the audience. They create basically a perfect set of gigantic headphones the audience sits inside of for the best sound system you could ever imagine!!! And the lighting is beyond description and the only way you can understand is to actually experience it in person!!! Everybody's enjoying your trip keep it going and so far, great job!!!

    So I think that you will really appreciate this. There is an 80s group called Def leopard, and they have a song called Pour some Sugar on Me. Amazing song,but to me, the best part is how well the drums are played. The drummer lost one of his arms in an accident and adapted soooooo well. Very impressive. Most people who react to this song have no idea.

    Enjoy the rest of this concert then start on the albums which are all concept albums with a theme. If you are looking for a wake-up album about society and the way we are being manipulated and exploited, it has to be 'Animals' whereas self-reflection would be 'The dark Side of the Moon'. 'Comfortably Numb' is from 'The Wall' which is about a fictional music artist called 'Pink' who is addicted to drugs and suffering from serious mental health issues that stem from a deceased father (lost in WW2) and an over-protective mother.

    The two PF albums you should really listen to front to back in one sitting are Dark Side Of The Moon, and The Wall (the album this song comes from). Do yourself a favor and do not piece-meal those ;-) You can pick and choose Pulse concert songs, though, without losing much. The entire Pulse concert is awesome, and includes DSOTM in its entirety, however I recommend checking out studio versions before live versions of the songs. The one exception to that rule may be the song Echoes, where the 1970s live in Pompei version is pretty killer.

    • @angelagraves865
      @angelagraves865 8 часов назад

      As much as I love the Pompeii Echoes, I have to disagree that it's the best version. The studio version is the best, imo, then Live In Gdansk, the Pompeii. ✌🏽💗🎸🤘🏽

    It’s kinda long story. In the 60s you gave your songs to a DJ and when he spun it you got paid that way. In the 70s (can’t remember their title) there was an intermediary between the artist and the DJ. You had to butter them up (PF song: have a cigar). PF did not like these people and didn’t want to pay them for good reasons. When they did their Wall tour, they succumbed to those types to get their Another Brick in the Wall album to play over the air in the US, to gain interest in them. PF lost money on that tour and Roger Waters left the band and PF then went on and did some great work in the 80-90s. That’s an abbreviated story lol.

    Just a mention Pink Floyd isn't a he. There is no Pink Floyd. The lead singer lead guitarist (who isn't always the lead singer btw) didn't write most of Pink Floyds songs the bass guitarist did. Pink Floyd is the name of a band. Just like there is no Lynyrd Skynyrd and no Jethro Tull but those are stories for other times.

  • @flubblert
    @flubblert 6 часов назад +1

    If you really want to interpret these songs, you should be listening to the albums all the way through, not necessarily the Pulse live concert. Their biggest albums of the 70s are all concept albums that tell a story through an overarching concept. They are all an experience onto themselves...
    "Dark Side of the Moon"
    "Wish You Were Here"
    "Animals"
    and "The Wall". Masterpieces all. The songs you've heard so far are a mix from several albums. "High Hopes" is from "The Division Bell" 1994. Their final album of original material.
    Roger Waters who left the band in the mid-80s, was their primary lyricist and conceptual mastermind. He was not a part of the live Pulse concerts. David Gilmour, seen here, is probably their most recognizable lead voice, and also just happens to be one of the world's most acclaimed guitarists. You've just seen why. 🎸

    I see you connecting the songs from this concert, and I don't blame you, the band often bring up similar themes.
    But if you look at the original release dates, and the fact that each song comes from a different album, .there is no real connection other than being played brilliantly at this concert.
    Time - 1973
    Comfortably Numb - 1979
    High Hopes - 1994
    Cheers from Canada ;-]
