This performance never ceases to amaze me. Here is a humble 50ish year old man, dressed like he just finished mowing his lawn, stepping on stage in front of 15,000+ people and delivering what is universally revered as the single most powerful, beautiful and moving guitar solos ever recorded. In my opinion there never has been or ever will be another performance to match this in all of music - not just rock.
I agree. Here he is, an incredibly talented man and he’s in jeans and a t-shirt.
I think there is one better than this one, namely Andy Latimer's heart-wrenching solo on the title track on Camel's "Stationary Traveller" studio album. It's shorter than this one, but hits harder:
ruclips.net/video/YTwyl0VSEHg/видео.html
@@sneakyfox4651 Ehm... well, define "better".
From my point of view - not a guitarrist, but a musician - I'd say: no. By far not.
Simple proof for me: Gilmore is the one, that made me cry more than one time, and this solo makes me shiver time and time again. He is the only one that managed to do so.
The other one is a good 80s-style-solo like I heard some. It may be technically good, I don't know, but I did not feel it really.
Maybe - as you are posting this comment so often - it means something for you for some reason. Okay. But "better"?
Well if you'd like to hear more of this solo then check out Body Count's version. After being asked for permission to make the song. He asked to play on it. He blessed their version from the start to finish. Ice T's updated lyrics really drive it home. Official video, because David isn't playing out with the guys.
Waters isnt there. It isnt REALLY Pink Floyd.
I’ve heard this song more times than I can count and I still get chills every single time. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
You have just witnessed , arguably, the best guitar solo ever recorded. A Pink Floyd eargasm.
🙄
Absolutely!!!
Although I think Sorrow and the slide guitar in High Hopes are right up there as well.
He does not waste a single note!

The sound is so clear because they had the most expensive sound and lighting system ever put together for a tour. The audience sat inside a complete surround sound including speakers in the roof. You didn't listen to Pink Floyd, you experienced them. This tour played to over 5 million people, all of whom rate this concert as the best of all time. Amazing experience. I was there on the night they recorded this. Heard nothing to better it since.
Agree 100 percent! Best concert I've ever witnessed in my life and I've seen Zepplin, Stones and pretty much every big bands. They sound better live for sure
100% absolutely the best concert I ever witnessed! Been attending concerts since late 70s.
Pink Floyd’s music isn’t just music it’s therapy. Dave Gilmour’s guitar is the therapist.
Expensive to go and see though.
I went to see them at Earls Court, West London on their 1973 Dark Side Of The Moon Tour with 18,000 others and they charged us a £1 or $1.34 to attend.😀😀
Every single song from this concert is a mic-drop experience! ❤
the greatest guitar solo in history

I have incurable cancer I always loved Pink Floyd ! Now more than ever 👍this calms me so much trearments not as bad now💗Love your reviews Emma keep at It !
Praying 🙏 for you, and God's grace be sufficient in your time of need and suffering. To the author and finisher of our faith and his suffering for us. ✝️
Pink Floyd is not " a band "
Pink Floyd is an Experience.
Eargasm is definitely appropriate.
Gilmore proves that you don't have to shred to be one of the greatest guitarist in the world. Most emotional and best solo ever
LOL... I was just thinking of shredding myself. Shredding is not guitar playing. It's performing silly tricks to show off what they regard as "skills" and it sounds awful - true noise pollution.
David Gilmour (I'm glad you didn't call him the the greatest but ONE of the greatest) because once those great artists reach a certain echelon, superlatives become irrelevant, we are entering a different realm all together.
When David plays a solo, every single note has a meaning nothing is by chance. He is a true, intelligent artist!
Pink Floyd was one of the greatest bands of all time. Pete

There's nothing like being there in the audience. The power of the sound, the gigantic lighting technology, is absolutely phenomenal. Experiencing this is a highlight in my life. I'll never forget that.
Probably the most iconic guitar solos in rock. Amazing! ❤
David Gilmour can say more in one note than I can say in a whole sentence, epic. 👌
I attended this tour. The show was insane. One of the most memorable events in my life. It was not a concert...it was a spirtual event.
Same, Paris in the rain and in Earls Court. ❤
Pasadena, California, at the Rose Bowl
At that age, David's voice had become like liquid gold.
This was their finest hour.
The Late Great Richard Wright on keyboards and backing vocals. R.I.P. 😢
Yes, beautiful in all its glory and grace, Pink Floyd nailed it again and made it even better on this tour with Comfortably Numb.😊❤😮
Rock on!
On̈e of the most epic Concerts and Tour of all time. Pink Floyd is the ultimate experience.
This particular performance ALWAYS makes me tear up...😢
Congratulations, you have just entered the Pink Floyd rabbit hole. They never made a bad song. You need to explore this rabbit hole.
Congratulations you have just experienced the 2nd best and 1st best guitar solo’s on this planet ….
Wow, thanks! 🤩
There is music... And then there is Pink Floyd!
One the greatest bands to come out of the UK 🤘😢
Out of ANYWHERE!
David's voice backed by Sam Brown the blond backing singer compliment each other giving that brilliant sound.
I was scrolling through the comments to see if anyone had mentioned Sam Brown, who was providing backing vocals on this. A very good singer in her own right! Thank you.
lovve your reaction emma they are one of the best bands of all time
Oh yeah, I love this music 🤩🤩🤩
i could take next 40 years trying to show you the in's and out's of Pink Floyd, and do not think I would have enough Time.
David Gilmour doesn’t use amps. He plugs his guitar directly into your soul.
Great Band I have loved them since the early 70's!
Pink Floyd concerts always had amazing laser light shows.
I had to watch it again, I'm so happy you didn't pause during the second solo! This is art! It's mindblowing, simply perfect! I looooove it so much! Emma, thank You!! 🙌🫶🙌
ANYTHING from the Pulse Concert will blow you away!!
The superb Pink Floyd. The genius of David Gilmour both vocally and on that guitar. Also a shout out to Sam Brown who backs Dave’s vocals perfectly through the chorus
One of the greatest performances of the 20th century. Emma!!!❤️🥰😍💘
Beautiful lady! Beautiful song! ❤
Saw Pink Floyd once they were awesome!
It’s always a journey of a soundscape with pink Floyd🤯 the wall is another epic soundtrack
Thank you, teacher Emma, you're the best! 👏👏👏
You're so welcome!😉
Let's go my beautiful friend Emma thank you for the reaction ❤❤❤
My pleasure 😊
the best guitar solo of all time
Wish you where here live is a must. Love pink Floyd ❤
Outstanding music!!! Love this song!! Love your reaction Emma. 😍😍😘😘
✨😉😘😘😘😘😘😘
As a person that saw tis 5 times indoors and out it wasn't a concert it was an experience. This was 1 of 14 days in a row sold out and their last.
It was even better in person. The mirrored ball was spinning light around the stadium, and when the music stopped it felt like the stadium continued to spin for a few seconds.
i play 7 different instruments myself & I've been to a lot of gigs over the years. I'm not easy to impress, but let me tell you that I had tears running down my face for a majority of this concert. I had an out of body experience & unusually for me I wasn't even stoned at the time.
As you are a vocalist I suggest you watch "The Great Gig In The Sky" from the same concert.
This is where the backing vocalists take centre stage without even singing any words.
Great Comment.
great to see you simply invested in the music, and not just the shape of his mouth while singing
Pink Floyd a very unique band worth hearing always. Cool shirt Emma!👀👀
Pink Floyd have always been able to sing with their instrument's. Iconic and highly recognisable sound & style.
Nobody has written anything this good in years!
As a vocalist, you'll enjoy hearing the original version of Great Gig In The Sky, a song on Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon album. No words, just vocalising...heavenly.
A lot of people point to the Pulse version, which is great for is powerhouse vocals, but the studio version is nuanced in ways you simply can't match in a concert venue. There's a great story behind the creation of Clare Torry's iconic vocal too ruclips.net/video/mIW7xZSlZoM/видео.htmlsi=8yy9lM8dfQZZAAzz
@@campbeld63 Yes, I've heard the stories since I bought the album in 76.
You are just too adorable! I enjoy just watching you listen to music like this! Pink Floyd is my all time favorite band. I grew up with Parents that listened to classic rock and my earliest memories are of when I was just a baby yet hearing this play on vinyl and I'd fall asleep to it. I'm a lifelong musician as well. This is considered one of the greatest guitar solos of all time by David Gilmore!!!! Love it! I am seeing a Pink Floyd tribute band in like 2 weeks called Think Floyd! I am excited!
I was lucky enough to attend one of the concerts that year, in Pontiac Michigan. It is one of the 2 bests shows, I have ever seen. Love this band, and this channel.
I was at this one, at Earls Court here in London.
This live performance was phenomenal. I remember listening to this album on FM radio when it was first released. I was never the same. No matter how many times I hear Comfortably Numb, it blows me away every time.
So good!
☺️🔥😉
Great reaction young lady 😃
Thank you!! 😁
David Gilmour the greatest slow hand guitarist. The genius is that Floyd is never in a hurry
✨️🎶👑🎶✨️
My generation's music wasn't bad. 😊. It's okay to close tour eyes. That's how we listened to Pink Floyd.
What a track! What a performance absolutely Epic Emma, yes you got that right👌🏻More please great reaction ❤️
I saw Pink Floyd in concert in Ames Iowa on the division bell tour back in the day. Hearing Pink Floyd on the Alpine car audio system back in the early 1990s was awesome while in high school took the music to a new level.
Such an amazing song and performance, one that always blows me away! I really enjoyed your reaction and thoughts!
I was at this concert, but they are my favorite band, so I have been to many of their concerts. You don't get any better than Pink Floyd.
Beatiful reaction from an incredibly beautiful woman.
Every performance from this concert is well worth watching!
As someone with chronic neuromuscular pain, this is the Pink Floyd song that means the most to me. Much of it was written by Roger Waters after his experience with having a shot for abdominal pain, which was later diagnosed as hepatitis, just before going on stage for a show. His hands felt so swollen he could barely play his bass guitar, and it did remind him of when he was sick as child. You really must watch the film "The Wall" to get a real prospective of this song, and others from The Wall album.
Finally, someone who gets it (at least in my interpretation of the song). I suffer from Stiff Person Syndrome, so I can literally feel your pain. When boiled down, that's what this song is about: pain. This is fully realized in the outro guitar section. It starts out kind of normal, but as it progresses it gets more intense, and by the time the ball opens, he adds serious distortion and makes that guitar sound like it's screaming in pain, like so many people do. I don't like calling it a "solo" because throughout his performance, the band never stops playing, but they continue repeating the supporting music, occasionally coming to the forefront, like the drummer clearly looking up at where the ball is going to drop as he rises in intensity to almost introduce it. The EVH "Eruption" solo (which is actually a solo, just him and his guitar) is not better or worse IMO, it's just DIFFERENT. Van Halen's performance is more of a tour de force of "let's show all the weird ways to make noise with a guitar", and sheer hand speed and techniques. While magical to watch, it doesn't hit me like Gilmour does. I think you have to be an old man to be really affected by his performance, because we have been through life and suffered, and his playing reflects that, which is why many of us end up bawling like babies.
@markh.7650 Peace, brother.
Thank you Thank you Thank you Emma! In The same show Pulse 1994 have two musics epic too: HIGH HOPES and SORROW!!! Hugs From Brasil 🇧🇷🎉🎉❤❤
Dave Gilmour can make a guitar sing better than a lot of singers can actually sing. Facts.
Nice reaction. One of my first concerts ever and the first time I took LSD. I had a ball and heard the concert was good also. hehehe I remember they had an airplane on a cable that glided down and crashed on stage to start the show. It was an unforgettable evening that I don't remember.
One doesn't merely listen to Pink Floyd, one experiences them.
Gilmour's 2nd solo in the Pulse version of Comfortably Numb is above all other solos, period! He takes you on a journey that no other guitarist can. I love this quote from another guitarist (Dave Mustaine) it is so true ...
“David Gilmour can do more with one note than most other guitar players can do with the whole fretboard"
― Dave Mustaine
Saw them in 1975 on their Dark Side of the Moon tour. Unforgettable.
right. I saw it too. That was Pink Floyd. This 1994 group is lacking.
🇨🇦 Glad to see you finally got here ! 🇨🇦
Positive vibrations always
👍👍👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
magical live performane, david so talented...........
Never ever gets old. No matter how many times you hear/watch it. Musical Gold.
Coming on to YT and being greeted by your beautiful eyes and smile make my day.😊
Now that I have that out of the way thank you for a great reaction. You’re one of the few reactors who mentions the arpeggiated keyboard part. It’s so fundamental as it’s the only quick moving part at times.
It’s been said that one does not go to a Pink Floyd concert one goes to a Pink Floyd experience!
And it's the same for each surviving member - I have been fortunate enough to also see David Gilmore, Rger Waters, and A Saucerful ofSecrets (Nick Mason's band) and each one brings their own interpretation of the experience.
Saw them first when I was 14 lol, The 'Animals' tour in 1977' ,Boston...
I saw them first when I was 19 in '77 ( The In The Flesh Tour---- the Animals tour) at the old Cleveland Municipal stadium. EPIC SHOW!!! The ticket sales for that show was reportedly 97000. The whole stadium was packed even the field. We were on the field about twenty yards from the stage.
Proof you can sing with a guitar and a great light show.
I was at the Earl's Court show where this was recorded. Spectacular show.
Expensive to go and see though.

I got in free because the seating collapsed the previous night and my seat didn't exist. I got my £25 back and we were seated at the side. Not such a great view for the visuals but still ear splittingly loud. My ears rang all thexway home.@@Isleofskye
Wonderful song
This is arguably the greatest guitar solo of all time. Thanks again.
One of my favorite Floyd songs. That tour was incredible
Hi Emma 😃 Обожаю Pink Floyd 😍 Спосибо за реакцию 🥰
🔥😉🥰👍
Saw em twice, once on that tour. Sadly not THAT show, but that tour, and it was just as amazing as you think it would've been. God I can't believe it's been 30 years lol
You truly are a wonderful reactor knowing exactly the right times when to pause while listening to one of the greatest guitar solos and light shows ever seen on a Stage. Thank You:):)
Folks say that the first guitar solo is the second best in history. The best solo? That second solo...
@@dave30076 I love it though I would put "Gary Moore: Still Got The Blues For You LIVE IN PARIS" right up there and the first time I heard it this 70-year-old Londoner cried at its sheer Beauty:)
I was fortunate to see Animals and The Wall tours, they are amazing live, they got all out excellent shows
Great review. Enjoy your insights. As many other commenters have noted, this was an incredible show to see live. Was fortunate to see it at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY. Been to a lot of concerts that were excellent, but this one is very honestly a complete stand out. Everything about that show was an experience - the music, of course, but also, the sound quality was amazing... the lights were astounding... and when that mirror ball 'appeared' with lights catching it from all over the arena, ands then it split apart.... OMG. And I'm completely leaving out the flying Pink Floyd Pig! :-) Thanks for the memories, Emma. Glad you enjoyed. Cheers.
These were amazing concerts in the eighties when I was a teenager, the Lazer light shows were the best !
Need to watch Sorrow, Wish You Were Here, Us And Them all from Pulse concert. Great Reaction@
Very sweet reaction XOXO
When this came out I would listen to this front to back with headphones LOUD.
The Movie is a MUST watch for you now if you want the entire story. (You won't need drugs but it won't hurt) 😎
Whatever it cost to go to this concert, it was worth it.🤑
Happy pre 4/20+
When you hear this you realize that this is it, there is nothing more… should not exist nothing more, its complete ❤
Hello beautiful Emma. I hope you are having a wonderful day. ❤
Thank you! 🤩 I’m great, you?
@ Fine. Just sitting here waiting for all the snow to melt.
Now you have to watch and react to "Run like Hell", and "The Great Gig in the Sky" from the same concert. Prepare to be blown away.
Probably the greatest masterpiece in rock music. Just brilliant.
This is not a band , this is a megaband 😊😊
Gilmour is the goat. Dude walks out into a packed out stadium wearing a t-shirt and jeans and just destroys. Boss level💙
It was 1973, when my late brother brought home a new 8-track tape of "Dark Side of the Moon". From then on I was hooked.
I want to request a very special song that is new to me that melted my heart when I first heard it last month. It isn't another Pink Floyd song. (Read Down)
This video was recorded on stage just two or three months ago of David performing with his daughter Romany as she plays a harp and sings one of the most beautiful, haunting songs I have ever heard. The lyrics alone will break you.
David is still active in music and putting out songs and he also performs with his daughter. This is one of the most recent performances of David Gilmour. And yes, he will tug at your heart with his guitar solo in this song as he always does, but It's Romany's song and he lets her steal the limelight. He is even wearing his simple black T-shirt that makes this seem like a dream.
If you miss this request and choose some other request, you may miss out on one of the most tragically beautiful songs you can hear.
"David Gilmour with Romany Gilmour - Between Two Points (Later... with Jools Holland)" ruclips.net/video/Yv4--p6bAxo/видео.htmlsi=jIRpucONURHBguhP
... or you can have a look at "Scattered", especially the live performance from Madison Square Gardens.
Stick with this great Pulse concert by Pink Floyd. You can't go wrong-----every song's a stunner. Try the beautiful High Hopes next.
You got it here lady. Keep digging!
Emma, if you want to hear some impressive singing, you should see "The Great Gig in the Sky" from the same Pulse concert.
I agree, its the perfect 2nd PF song to listen to from the concert.
The look of disbelief on people's faces when the girls start singing is pretty awesome ;)
Especially after that beautiful keyboard intro melody by Rick and David on the lap/slide guitar.
