I bought a 16 quart electric roaster--pretty small--and it tasted just like my 7 quart Crockpot and was faster by hours! I've been a loyal Crockpot user all my life but this small electric roaster is so convenient and everything is great, I can bake if I want to. I made biscuits, I tried and tried in the Crockpot and it was a disaster. Cakes came out good in the Crockpot though. But it takes so long, get an Electric Roaster and use it all the time, it's just so convenient. You can use liners like she is in the video, also.
Great info here. I have a pre-sliced ham and used the included glaze for the topping. Setting the crockpot on low in the morning and coming home from work to a yummy sliced ham was awesome. Not only getting nicely sliced ham for sandwiches, casseroles, etc., I have a ham bone to make broth with beans or anything else I want. This is the way to get the most out of something that I bought on sale ($1.29 per pound) for many delicious meals. Many thanks.
Thanks so much for your delicious recipe. I’ve made this multiple times , and everyone comments about how tasty it is . I’ve shared with many . So thanks again . Great Job 👍
This is a pre cooked ham. Unfortunately I do not know what the low setting temperature is from my slow cooker. I can tell you that this recipe works best on a whole ham not pre-sliced.
First off you place the ham on a rack in a large pot on the stove, fill with water bring to a boil. Turn the heat off allow to cool to room temp. Then you remove the ham and rise it off squeezing the ham to release the salt from the pores. Then you put melted butter, brown sugar, honey and vanilla in the bottom of the pot with liner, and stir it well. Now add the ham drizzle with honey and pack the brown sugar on top. Then gather the bag up twist it well and use a twist tie to seal it closed. Makes for a self basting ham! Turn on high setting for 1 hour to bring the ham up to temp, then turn to low for 6 hours. Your ham didn't soak up any of the glaze it was white after the first cut.
I found your recipe again !! I was planning on making this for Thanksgiving last year but my mans mom made a ham. Im going shopping next wk. and Im making this to go with the hot ham n cheese pull apart sandwiches. This is a great way to cook this ham. thanks for posting.:)
Jean you will never cook a ham any other way again! I promise! Just make sure it's a whole half ham, not pre-sliced. The pre-sliced in the slow cooker tends to dry out very quickly!
Katie Jasiewicz I am going to make a glaze to pour over my ham when its cooking, but I am also going to put a lil pineapple juice on the bottom of my crockpot so the ham wont dry out, plus it will add flavor too.
I got an Oster 16 quart electric roaster, it is the size of a couple of crockpots, and it bakes, and steams, and there is nothing you cannot make in it. I got mine from the Oster site after Christmas and it was 20 bucks so I got two of them. I use a big casserole dish in it so I don't have to clean the inside well often but that's not a big deal, it comes out easily and washes up fast. I dehydrated herbs in it, baked biscuits and pizza, did a shank ham, turkey, burgers, name it. Today I made baked potatoes and added water to it and it was done in 35 minutes and those potatoes were steamed perfect. I made northern bean soup in it using my deep lasagna pan for the beans, man, it was great. The point is, get an electric roaster, and keep it handy and you will use it every day like I do. So handy and mine goes up to 450 degrees!
Darn good ham. Have used your recipe four times now and the ham has been very popular with family and friends. They keep asking me to cook it again. A neighbor asks often when I'm going to do it again.
Thanks for show the LINER. It really does make clean up so easy.😷👍 One could use All SPICE in place of the other spices 😷👍 Maple syrup works also instead of Honey 🍯😷👍
I been looking for you im for North Carliona and we love pinic ham and to find my type of ham in a slow cooker it music to my ear i hates sprial ham so thank you so much and you know i got to download this video and i got to show my girl friends there 3 of us and we in our 50's and we love quick receipts and shopping.thieft shop we do thing that old people do. please reply back and thanks you again
Do you still have your slow cooker? Have you experienced cracks in your porecelian thing? A lot of people are complaining about that. I guess Kitchenaid wont do anything about it.. I have a slow cooker like yours on the way in the mail and I hope it'll be amazing after years of use.
I guess if your ham sat too tall you could slice some of the end off as shown or instead of the lid, wrap foil around the top tightly and ditch the lid. In your case you didnt have much but if was sticking up way more then perhaps cover with foil and wrapping tight around the rim would work.. Never had to do this but yah just a suggestion.
thank you for posting your video of how to cook a ham in a slowcooker. I have never done this before and am going to try.Christmas is here next week. I only am cooking a 2 1/2 lb ham though. How long on low do I need to cook this then? I love tender n juicy ham, not tasteless n dry ham.
Hi there, I think a slow cooker is a very good and safe way to make meat very tender and juicy. Don’t worry about temperature so much. If you cook on high, 6 hours and on low, around 8 hours. Slow cooker’s are basically the same in the world. Don’t forget to baste your meat and check on the liquid, don’t let it dry out. Kind regards Mark
An oven can work perfectly as a slow cooker. Usually setting your oven to low will be around 200-225 degrees F, as long as you cover your roasting pan with foil to keep in moisture and to protect the ham from the heat, the connective tissue will be able to break down and the ham will tenderize. It's going to take 8-10 hours to cook, but it's definitely worth it if you want your ham to be tender
I added the same things she added to an apple wood smoked ham and came out very good 👍 The only difference was I added a little pineapple juice at the bottom of slow cooker and high for 4hrs😀
HighVoltage600 it is!!! High temperatures makes the chemicals particles from the plastic to goes directly to your food. Also, warming up food on plastic containers it's not good as well... glass containers are better :)
Totally agree with personal choice - but I agree with 84sblack - while cleanup is easier, even the best of plastics leech into food. Skip the plastic, it's not needed and you can use water in the slow cooker to soften the remnants so you can use a bristle to remove. Convenient doesn't = healthy for people that eat your food. Change that mentality and the elbow grease is worth it. (and yes, I know this post is over a year old, but for others that come across, it's worth them to have some solid advice as well).
Fabulessme any kind of gross stuff would have been cooked off.. also, it is a pre cooked ham so all the juices are there on purpose to use when re-heating
I destroyed the Christmas ham with this recipe. I have the same slow cooker, my ham was 8 pounds I only had 5 hours so I cooked on high for 5 hours and it looked like Catherine and Eddies Christmas turkey. Sooooo bummed. It probably only needed 3-4 hours on low.

My oven caught on fire yesterday due to a bad element so this is how I'll cook my ham this year, THANKS!!!.
Awesome recipe Katy Merry Christmas God bless

This makes me want to buy this slow cooker. KitchenAid - I love you. Katie - THANK YOU! You might make a cook out of me after all.
Thanks so much for your delicious recipe. I’ve made this multiple times , and everyone comments about how tasty it is . I’ve shared with many . So thanks again . Great Job 👍
Thanks Peter for your kind words! Glad you enjoy it.
This is a pre cooked ham. Unfortunately I do not know what the low setting temperature is from my slow cooker. I can tell you that this recipe works best on a whole ham not pre-sliced.
Lightarms D yes, Walmart carries the bags
Patrick De Simone
I heard that if u try adding some orange juice or even pineapple juice to the crockpot, then your ham wont be dry. Hope this helps
Cooking in plastic always comes with a risk that some chemicals might leach into your food.
+JP These are food safe bags, specially made for slow cookers.
seattwa
We hope...of course, as long as the bags weren't manufactured in China.

😢😮Nice Katy. I really enjoyed your Ham cooked in the Crock pot

I even took it out and put n oven for extra crisp! Los Angeles 2020 quarantine!
This was very helpful. Never cooked ham in the slow cooker, but I will for the holidays!!
Jean you will never cook a ham any other way again! I promise! Just make sure it's a whole half ham, not pre-sliced. The pre-sliced in the slow cooker tends to dry out very quickly!
Ok, thanks so much, will do this for Xmas!!!
Katie Jasiewicz
I am going to make a glaze to pour over my ham when its cooking, but I am also going to put a lil pineapple juice on the bottom of my crockpot so the ham wont dry out, plus it will add flavor too.
Tracy Chester I'm getting iffy about my pre-sliced ham.. ahhh.. hopefully your tip on pouring some pineapple juice helps it from drying out.
Excellent video, perfect for my thanksgiving this year!
Made this last thanksgiving and it was a hit!
Some dry mustard in the brown sugar/spice mixture ads another flavor level .About 1/4 tsp.of Colman 's English is all you need.
That sounds delicious!
Looks yummy, just bought a slow cooker so I will for sure use your recipe , thanks a lot
Very nice... Thank you for the glaze recipe. I will certainly be making a ham this way for Christmas. :)
LOVE THIS Love this, large and stable.
Very good. Clear instructions!
Thank you so much. I don't have an oven so this is going to save my life.

Says it fits perfectly then has to cut top off hahahahh
Isn’t the Ham precooked?
People who make “How To” videos are The Real M.V.P.s👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Do I need a slow cooker for this recipe🤣🤣🤣🤣
Don’t you wash your ham before cooking?
Darn good ham. Have used your recipe four times now and the ham has been very popular with family and friends. They keep asking me to cook it again. A neighbor asks often when I'm going to do it again.
Thanks for show the LINER. It really does make clean up so easy.😷👍
One could use All SPICE in place of the other spices
😷👍
Maple syrup works also instead of Honey 🍯😷👍
Great tips! The slow cooker liner definitively makes it a much easier more manageable clean up!
Very helpful, thanks for posting.
Delicious looking ham
I AM SO USING THIS DURING THANKSGIVING !!!
Very good presentation
Well done demo, good job.
I would say this ham came out kind of dry because she did not use any liquid to garauntee moisture. Pineapple juice would have been perfect!!
I used pineapple juice too!
Juices will flow out of ham as it cooks.
She didn’t let the ham sit to soak up any juices or else it would have looked more juicy
Absolutely! You must be a home chef. We all figure out the pineapple juice from the canned pineapple is the best!!!
am i the only one that thinks she mistook "cup" for "kilogram"?? thats a LOT of sugar for a cup
Yeah, that was more than 1 cup for sure. LOL.
Thank you nice and easy. I just set it for 8hr's. Now the hardest part, the wait!
Excellent! So glad you loved this recipe.
Thanks for the help😁😁
Very good job that looks delicious!
My slow cooker isn't made by KitchenAid. Does that mean I can't make this??!?!?
No, any slow cooker will work.Just read your directions for starting and timer
Carole Toney I Think you aught to google "sarcasm" lol
+PandaBearJelly lol this is reason why I love the internet
yes, it means you cannot cook a precooked ham and call it cooking. thanks
Your crockpot is a 6 qt, I just recently got a new 8 1/2 qt. one, hope I can get the liner bags that big.
I never thought to cook a Ham in the slow cooker.it probably. would be juicy.....
I done it in slow cooker after watching RUclips and used honey brown sugar and pineapple and it came out gorgeous.
I thought it was great!! Thanx for recipe
Do you still have your slow cooker? Have you experienced cracks in your porecelian thing? A lot of people are complaining about that. I guess Kitchenaid wont do anything about it..
I have a slow cooker like yours on the way in the mail and I hope it'll be amazing after years of use.
That's odd! I don't have a KitchenAid one but my Proctor Silex has never cracked. I use it often
Yay thanks for the idea I have a slow cooker and I will try this thanks
In case anybody needed to know.. she said "Slow Cooker" 14 times in her 5 minute and 22 second video.
Carrie Stanley 😂😂😂👍
Great video
Carrie you should remake the same video and only say it 13 times just to be annoying. Oh wait
So
I guess if your ham sat too tall you could slice some of the end off as shown or instead of the lid, wrap foil around the top tightly and ditch the lid.
In your case you didnt have much but if was sticking up way more then perhaps cover with foil and wrapping tight around the rim would work.. Never had to do this but yah just a suggestion.
✨🎄Thanks for all your help !!!🎄✨#Adorable
A slow cooker bag?? I had no idea these existed...
Yes, and they are wonderful! It makes clean up so easy.
Yummy😋
Thanks for your information would have helped if you could list the amount of ingredients
9 HOURS? 5 hours is enough
Low is 200°, for a ham that size you'd need to cook for 8 hours minimum.
how many qt is the slow cooker? ok 6 qt
Fits perfectly as long as you hack the top off.
It all depends on the size of your slow cooker and the size of the ham you purchase!
What is the temp for Low? I'm using a GE turkey roaster with adjustable temp in degrees.
Way Kool. Thx a Ton.
Whats the name of that cooker
What size was the ham?
She said it was 9 lbs.
Nice video
No water?
Great thank you pretty lady.
Is ground clove necessary or no? Jw 🙂
Quick question! Was this a cooked or uncooked ham?
thank you for posting your video of how to cook a ham in a slowcooker. I have never done this before and am going to try.Christmas is here next week. I only am cooking a 2 1/2 lb ham though. How long on low do I need to cook this then? I love tender n juicy ham, not tasteless n dry ham.
cook it til its hot enough to eat.
I never cook my ham in a slow cooker. Never thought you could. But anyway what temperature do you cook it at & for how long?

Why wouldn't u rinse the ham??
My ham is Appel wood smoked so will that be ok or dose it have to be like plain sorry I know it sounds stupid
I added the same things she added to an apple wood smoked ham and came out very good 👍
The only difference was I added a little pineapple juice at the bottom of slow cooker and high for 4hrs😀
Sorry I also did less than a cup of brown sugar cause it seemed like too much for me 🙋♀️
With a ham like that one, its "heating/warming it up", not "cooking it"....
is cooking your food on plastic good for you? that seems wrong to me for some reason
HighVoltage600 it is!!! High temperatures makes the chemicals particles from the plastic to goes directly to your food. Also, warming up food on plastic containers it's not good as well... glass containers are better :)
Diane Reis you are dumb
Diane.....Absolutely wrong.
You don’t wash the ham first???
why? its fully cooked and stored in ham juices. do you wash your hot dogs first??? lol
Nice, but Please, no need to use a cooking bag, it takes 3 mins to wash the thing.
Thanks.
Personal choice!

Scott Frappier à
ACRIS818 like he said, elbow grease.. also, if you scrub a little when it’s still warm.. it’ll come off so easily
If you don't want to use a plastic bag, don't. It takes way longer than 3 minutes to wash a crock pot.
Did you use uncooked ham?
Almost all ham you buy in the store comes pre-cooked. This is simply to reheat the ham.
Hi, what if you have no slow cooking bags? Can I just sit the ham down flat?
demorippa pretty sure the bag is not mandatory.
Nx Vx ham already baked and digested, I winged it, but thanks
demorippa oh well... 😞
gotta checker board the ham. get ingredients into crevices. lol. cmon gurl
Awesome. How big is your ham?
Around the 4:27 mark she said it was 6 1/2 lbs. Hope that helped!
Why you did rinse this ham before cooking, one it salty two it factory process.😕😕😕
Fabulessme any kind of gross stuff would have been cooked off.. also, it is a pre cooked ham so all the juices are there on purpose to use when re-heating
Can i use light brown sugar?
Glenda Keeton yes dark or light works fine!
No rinsing of the meat??
Dear Katie can you write the recipe ingredients
Tanks for your help
I left my ham for 4hours on high and it was awe full. Overcooked and turned brown . A disaster. I will never do this again
Was ham cooked already?
Ham that you purchase at the grocery store is already cooked. So essentially you are heating it up until warm.
But she didn't wash the ham
Uuuum...Slow cooker bag makes it taste like a bran new shower curtain.Delicious Ain’t it Clark!
That's definitely a preference. I just share how to make it an easy clean up!
MMM, BEAST FLESSSSH.
Y no pineapple
Or you could've put the ham you cut off, In a pot of green beans.
where do you buy your plastic bag
You can get Reynolds bags in the supermarket or stores like walmark (in the aluminum foil section). You can also order them online from Amazon
The ham wouldn't fit so I cut the ham off the bone and stuffed it in there with out it.
God's Family Country USA 🇺🇲🙏💘

John 3 16 AMEN
I just pull my ham, like pulled pork. It's much easier to serve and doesn't crowd your plate like a big slice of ham does.
That is only half of a ham.
Could hear you better without the guitar
She didn’t rinse the ham off she just put it in the crockpot 🤬🤢🤮
And did the world explode because she didn't?? LMFAO such nit picking!!
Nancy Goodman no but that is nasty you have to prepare your food correctly if you’re displaying it for others to learn
u need to wash the ham. get all that preservative liquid off. salt and water. clean. wtf 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just cooked the ham in the plastic bag it came, and saved money by not having to buy the "slow cooker bag."
Informative, but loses marks for speaking in rising inflection questions, as if to a toddler.
Maybe I am a toddler...What? Can't I escape your agest phsyofical mindset! You troglodyte! 🎩
Bitch shut the fuck up and stop over analyzing her vocab. Fucking twat.
Jesus, 8 hours for a ham? You must enjoy eating leather.
Not in a slow cooker it wont be leather.
Why don't you people clean your meats...that's just nasty!!!! Even precook food should be at least rinsed
your cute
You guys waste too much time opening the ham package, most of us know NOT to cook it in the wrapper!
cooking things in plastic is EXTREAMLY toxic.
