Nicaraguan here. I visited last year twice after being gone for 8 years. There are a lot areas where you can buy properties relatively cheap to the US. I live in Denver and it has gotten so expensive in the last 25 years. I agree with someone saying you would live comfortably with $1,200. Myself and some friends are looking to buy properties now and retire in a few years in Nicaragua, our money will go further. Good on Keith for finding a place where he can live well. Americans need to look more into these opportunities abroad because there are many countries where they can live with a lot less than the US.

Great video, the retirement minimum requirement visa is a recurring monthly income of $600.00, and they are at 113 on the Global Peace Index out of 163. Very safe is 1 to 53 and safe is 54 to 117. To live comfortably you might want to spend $1,200.00. The proximity to the U.S. is a definite plus...

My wife is from Nicaragua and we lived there all of 2023.
It is inexpensive if you dont use a/c. we had electric bills of $700 and protested...with no luck, and this was in Matagalpa, one of the coolest cities but still HOT.
It is also very poor so skeleton street dogs, tremendous litter everywhere...
People are friendly and some areas are beautiful but it is not for us. Costa Rica is expensive...lived there before...
We are currently in Xela Guatemala in the cool mountains, and love it. Three modern malls, walmart, conveniences...as a couple we live big on $1600/month..

For those doing visa runs in Nicaragua, the first stamp is for 90 days but it is possible to get *two* one month extensions. After that, one needs to do the visa run outside of the Central America community (Costa Rica and Mexico are the two closest countries for visa runs).

This guy is not living in a really nice place. He's living Local-way. He said his bedroom is a hovel and he uses it for storage, and sleeps in his livingroom. I'm not knocking it, but you have to be living there for several months to find these type minimal places. If you want fancy, you will pay more.
