One of the best songs ever by the one and only Sir.Elton John. What an amazing production.
A big hit for Elton. Sinead O'Connor did a great cover of this on an Elton tribute CD.
Elton John is the GOAT! Such a deep rabbit hole to explore. The great thing about Elton is that his album cuts rival his single hits and in some cases, they surpass them! Try his deep cut called Indian Sunset ALBUM VERSION. Not enough space here to name them all but this cut is a good place to start.
Regarding Indian Sunset, I think either the Madman album version or the 17-11-70 album version will do -- the latter may be even better because, damn, that is a great live vocal performance.
@@hannahbethisbell331 Elton is great live but I personally prefer the studio cuts. Most live performances from that era did not have the technical prowess of the studio. It would be many, many years before the technology would catch up to the quality found in the studio.
@@johnandrews3151 I get it. And I agree in general regarding studio cuts, but I think that most of 17-11-70 is an exception that proves the rule. In subsequent interviews Elton and the rest of the band reported that the performance was special, that they played like they'd never played before. My copy of 17-11-70 is an original vinyl bootleg, and even with the skips, the quality of Elton's singing is remarkable, and there is a a rawness to the live performance that suits the song as well!
Oh, and interesting to note since you bring up the technology -- in interviews I've heard Elton John talk about the trouble with micing a piano in the early years, and other technological struggles, but interestingly, he credited the tech for why 17-11-170 is so good. He said that since the band were all wearing cans, as they were in a radio station, they could hear each other better than ever before. If you listen to the bootleg, the first two tracks he asks the control people to adjust the sound in his cans, and after that...magic. He said in a subsequent interview that this is why Nigel Olsson continued to wear cans live.
Beautiful song. Beautiful reaction. Beautiful burp. Beautiful recommendation for Easter weekend? - Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds - bartender ( live at radio city music hall )
Love this reaction, glad to see the appreciation for some real legendary music
Elton is just great. What is there to say.
Elton John is the GOAT😊
I've gotta get caught up! I'm always a day behind. I've gotta say that I am a HUGE Elton John fan and this song never grabbed me before right now. I gave it a chance and actually listened. It's almost a tear jerker! Wow! It's got a story just as all of his songs do, thanks to Bernie Taupin. You should go way back and do some of his much older stuff. Tumbleweed Connection is a fantastic album, or Madman Across the Water. Great reaction Biz!
I will check out his okd stuff.. lol I thought that song was old
@@watchbizmatik I just had another realization...It depends on what you consider to be old! Haha! To me, anything after 1980ish is new to me. I'm trying to have an open mind with music more than I ever have been before. If you can do it, so should I!
One of Elton John' masterpiece'! Along with 'Nikita'!
Love my EJ ♥️🎼 “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word” is one of my favorites from Elton ♥️ “The Bitch Is Back” is another one!!
YEAHHHHH !! Bout to listen
Yea this man can sing for sure
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
From Germany
I love singing this song.
Check out Elton John "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road",and "Someone Saved My Life Tonight".
Beautiful comments man!
Thank you
The song is about the pains and pangs of divorce.
Yaaaayyy!! I requested this about a year ago 😃
Really lol
@@watchbizmatik yeah I can remember listening to it with my father in his shit-brown Datsun on the 8 track! It was one of his favorites
Cool ,it was Bitter sweet love song !!!
He came to to the terms to with his sexuality
Cette...mélodie...me...prend...au...triple.....nikita....aussi...et...je...viens...de...rompre....avec....mon....amie..
Because you're really into vocals, I'd suggest a couple of deep cuts. Check out this live version of "All the Nasties" -- because the thing about Elton John is, it's not just studio trickery, he is that good live: ruclips.net/video/UWsItwNGjbY/видео.html
That said, also check out the album version of "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" , not a deep cut, but probably his most beautiful inverted chord sequence and greatest vocal performances, and if you want something that's really a change of pace vocally and musically, check out "Stone's Throw From Hurtin" (Yes, that IS him singing)
.
I totally agree. People talk about the flamboyant outfits, his stage presence, his talent for creating melodies, but never how talented of a vocalist he is.
Alternatively to your suggestions, go listen to Burn Down The Mission live at the Royal Opera House. He not only shreds the piano but his vocal is so soulful.
I remember buying Sleeping With the Past and being shocked and confused at that song first listen. Lol
So beautiful ❤

Hermosa eleccion 7😍 LIKESEX.Uno de mejor siempre en mi corazónr mañas no se la.🌹🤩💜 Son unos de los mejores conciertos.
One of the most boring pop songs for the same reason as Phil Collins' "just another in paradise". Monotonous and very slow rythm. The way he uses his voice here is too overplayed. You just like at it at the beginning but then it became quickly boring
