I hate how these online demonstrations always use the most dosile cats. My cat doesnt stand for this crap hes hissing bitting and scratching like a wild tiger. Not much help
Sorry people but most cats will poorly behave if not showed otherwise. My cat was raised in a very strict manner, no biting, no scratching was allowed. This has allowed us to have a wonderful relaxed and close relationship in her adulthood, she knows not to fight me back and that everything I do, I do for her sake.
Al Hiatus, While I'm not disagreeing with you. I would say that what you said, brings to mind what most vets and lots of animal lovers would probably consider ABUSE. As I'm assuming you didn't teach it english and therefore was able to convey thru non-physical verbiage to the cat, how it is required to do things your way. Just sayin,.
Thank you for this demonstration! Our kitty is highly uncooperative when we have to give him medicine. We were able to successfully use the pill popper after following your instructions. Thanks, again.
I can't thank you enough for the video, it helped us successfully feed medicine to our cat, we are inexperienced and frightened, our cat is feisty, but it worked magic!! I think the importance is to hold the cat tightly, to hold his mouth shut after pushing the pill in and to calm him down by gentle talks during the process. Thank you again for this wonderful video!!
Thanks for the video tutorial. It was really helpful. My first go ended up the cat coughing it out because I forgot to cover her mouth so she swallows. The second go was perfect, just like how you did it. My daughter (20-month old) couldn't bear the seemingly brutal treatment of her kitten friend and was the only one distressed. Thank you so much again.
A good and helpful video, but I would offer that one should be sure that one's hands are clean and free of any lotions, etc, and that one's fingernails are well trimmed, as one would not want to scratch or otherwise hurt the inside of the cat's mouth while administering the pill by hand. Then wash hands again, with soap of course, when through. I also always make sure she sees her treats and knows she will get one when we are through. It sure helps to have a calm, docile cat to do this with, doesn't it? I sure like the Pill Popper! Nice video and I adore the accent!
Exactly what I was just thinking! My porch cat chases lizards through the screen all day, and eats anything that manages to get on the lanai period! He's also spent time on the "streets," so he's no nice kitty when it comes to bathing (he recently bit the fatty part of my forearm during a bath, bit all the way through and he's never, ever, ever, bitten me before). So to say I'm a bit nervous to give him his meds is an understatement. Wish me luck! ha!
I have to tell you it works on mine, and my cat is feisty when it comes to medicine (only dewormer pills in the past). My cat got sick lately and was discharged from vet yesterday, he scratched us badly when we tried to feed him meds yesterday, we are not experienced and are frightened by the process. We skipped the medication last night because of that (and I'm so guilty). So this morning I searched videos on how to feed cats medicines and this vid came up first. I copied the vet step by step and I successfully fed him all medicines!! This is not the first video I watched but this is definitely the one that helped us the most!!
What a nice cat! Just gave my cat a worm pill and this technique worked like a champ... Thanks for showing us... I had no idea how but this is simple....
I lost a quarter of a finger, my cat is now experiencing homicidal ideation, and he spit the tablet back out in the process. (Really though, the first method may work... and I even still have nine fingers left. Wish me luck.)
Reading all these comments. My cat is EXACTLY like the kitty in the demonstration. She is even the Tuxedo breed like the cat in the vid. Chill, let's me do what I need to do. No hissing, no scratching, no growling, no biting. Just relaxed, she sits right in my lap and I raise her head upwards, open her jaw, drop the pill in, pet her until she purrs then off she goes about her business. Easy peasy. I guess I'm very lucky she is like that for me. I never would have thought so many people have trouble giving pills to their kitties. I feel for all of you 🙁 I hope it eventually gets easier. I guess my girl is just used to getting meds because she has had asthma for 3 years and we medicate everyday normally with her inhaler and a steroid pill every 3 days. Even in the beginning she wasn't difficult though.
I have trouble giving our cat spot-on treatment, let alone a tablet. Reassuring to know that others have the same problems. Even though my husband holds the cat, the caqt hisses,, spits, growls, struggles so much that he's even managed to wriggle away from my husband's grasp. Even the vet sympathises (though she's a past master at tableting cats). She calls our cat a 'character' which I think is her polite way of saying he is 'difficult'!
Thank you this worked on both my kittens, it is so easy it took 8 seconds maximum, relax your cat on your lap when you are seated use your legs to keep back legs firm and secure to avoid scratches do the following in this video, thank you, putting those tablets in there food would not work they are too smart to fall for it LOL.
If I would try to give Lulu a pill by hand I'd need a blood transfusion because we all know how sharp cat's claws are...lol. I use a pill popper--give her a scruff, tilt her head back and when she opens her mouth in goes the popper and down goes the pill. Done very quickly and no need for band aids on my hands!
thanks we did it - I was a little wary of being bitten all I can add is you can use the middle finger on the hand putting the tablet it to keep the lower jaw open - by holding between the canines
I live alone, and my cat does not like being held for long so how am I to do this? The clever little bugger won't take tablets crushed in food either. help!
Try to wrapping your cat up somewhat tightly in a towel or small blanket leaving only his head out make sure you have the pill close and your sitting while doing this. Then take pill and lift the head with one hand and open the teeth and shove it down the back of the throat he should swallow it.
try this : give the cat 2 thin pieces of rosted beef you need the kind whitout the peper offcourse in the supermarket they have litle trays wih 6 thinflaps or less (coolmeet department) 2 kinds whit or whitout pepper. So In the third piece of normal rosted beef you have the broken up pil if it is a realy small pil youn dont have to break it up(can do it three times in three pieces beef if need be) tie a knot around pil so it doesnt fall out the beef and give to the cat. so first you give to clean peaces now they getting crazy for the stuff and then the one with pil in it I Know of several cats that are so crazy about rostedbeef after the first 2 easy peaces they trust the third one with pil and swallow it whitout thinking or tasting gone in a second And no stress for the cat if this workes for you pass this info on to others
+superbrighteye i mean tie a knot with the beef itself take a piece of 7 cm fould it around the pill. those thin slices of rostbeef are so soft you could get away by just twisting it around the pill. As i said they want the beef so badly if it doesnt fall open in the mouth the have swallowed it already. The key is also to give first a clean piece so the want the next piece badly and dont susspect the trick
You can also wrap it in fresh turkey, put it in a pill pocket '(amazon sells these or pet store) OR request that the pill come in a microtablet form and then pop it in a soft chewy treat like whisker lickens. This causes less stress
+Unconventionalsenshi "My kitty got pills prescribed for 14 days and 6 antibiotic injections" Yeah, it's bearable when it's temporary and you know "soon this too will pass." But it's the _"maintenance"_ meds that drive you crazy! :-@ That's when it really gets time-consuming and wearing, having to deal with the struggle on a day-to-day basis, every single day with no end in sight. Our cat is on four meds after a week's hospital stay; and of all of them, he really HATES the sucralfate tablets. They're fairly large (for a cat). He gets half of a tablet every 12 hours, mixed with 4 ml. of warm water. You have to keep remixing it because it separates too easy. Anyway we give this to him in a needle-less syringe (similar to pilling); but it must taste absolutely terrible the way he struggles-throwing his head back and forth like Stevie Wonder on the piano. I usually wind up wearing about half of the medication. Even my husband can barely hold him down (and it's almost always a 2-person job). Our cat is alpha male, firstborn of his litter with very muscular hindquarters. It's a known fact that many cats will behave (relatively-speaking) while they're at the veterinarian's office. They're in a strange place being handled by (often) strange people, with other animals and medicin-y smells all around-they're somewhat apprehensive; and so they cooperate. I have personally witnessed this myself with my own cats. But when you get them _home_, boy does their tune ever change!
I wonder if there’s a connection to being so docile and being a tuxedo cat. My cat is a tuxedo (btw she wears it better than this cat 😱😅) and she too is pretty relaxed when i administer her pills. She’s 15 just got diagnosed with CKD a few days ago. She was prescribed Baytril and I haven’t had trouble giving her pills by myself. I sit her on my lap tilt her head back and do as the video here instructs. Reading everyone’s comments below , I’m very thankful for this I wouldn’t have the emotional strength to struggle forcing that with her. My heart goes out to anyone that does.
Ha ha that's because that cat a nice cat. Our cat a nutta and his 14 years old. And til this day we all still fight who's going to give him the worm tablet. Lol 😆
EyeAmBatman :P it may be a tamed cat as you can see its body movement. the way is flicks its tounge and blinks. and when their petting it its fur wiggles a bit :P
Thanks for posting, I really hope that "lift up his chin to loosen up the jaws" works, because we've been practicing for tomorrow morning when he's supposed to take a pill, and it's really difficult to make him open up his mouth and not start "biting"! Of course, it's a new medicine, so I'm really hoping he would eat it willingly... xD As if that ever happens. But one way or another, he's going to have it. /determined/
My cats are not this docile. It can help to very tightly swaddle the cat in a towl, all paws and limbs held tight by a fearless spouse or friend. Best to sneak up on the feline while its sleeping and gently pick it up with the towel before wrapping.
Tried and failed doing it this way a few times. Finally suceeded after using a similar grip to tilt the cat's head but held his upper teeth instead. Blowing on the nose seemed to work.
I don't have an assistant right now! But I have to give Mr. Cat a pill. It hurts a lot, because he's very strong and scratchy but he refuses to eat it with the food!!
Thanks so much! this is very helpful. my cat wont eat crushed tablets with food. I am still worried she wont swallow or it will end up in her windpipe, but I give it a try. It looks easy. Only problem, I dont have anyone to hold her for me.
Yeh, I have had loads of cats and none of them ever took pills that easily. Always have to hide them in food. However, it might be fate as the cat in the video is Teethy, while the cat I am trying to give pills to at the moment is called Toothie. Or maybe it is fate that I should be with that gorgeous vet - I should be so lucky!
lol, luckily I do this alone and have no problem, maybe because it's just a quarter of the tablet or maybe because my kitty is used to me opening its mouth and she would never bite my fingers off :D Injections, however, she did alone and smoothly in other video, I needed assistance with them and even with another person, there were going terrible :C It's probably because everyone in the house lacks balls to push the needle in and we're not quick or brave enough with what we're doing >_> My kitty got pills prescribed for 14 days and 6 antibiotic injections, hopefully the curing period will fly fast. thanks for the vids!
Merrill Prusse We were apprehensive about doing this, and contemplating it, it seemed impossible to get our tabby to swallow his pill. But with your simple directions, it was a cinch. We accomplished it the very first time without incident, even with a slightly uncooperative cat.
This cat is an angel .. unlike mine who scratched me and ran and hide her self under the bed and kept hissing all day long making me die from guilt
Cat on this video looks relaxed so it is not a problem to give him pills. My cat was growling and hissing and trying to kill me )))
That what happened to me
Hi.. How are u man.. Still alive? Lol
lol my cat would saliva and slobber so much and cough it up this cat was much easier lol
As soon as I gently grabbed my cat's face to tilt it back, he rolled his eyes around like a fool and started going "blehhhhhhh!!!"
@@r.lindsey8395 Same with my cat, hence watching this video😂
What a patient cat. How lovely. My cat would never. . . ever. . .
I hate how these online demonstrations always use the most dosile cats. My cat doesnt stand for this crap hes hissing bitting and scratching like a wild tiger. Not much help
so true.........I gotta use welding gloves to give my cat a tablet
Totally agree! PLEASE SHOW A VIDEO GIVING A PILL TO THE SPAWN OF SATAN FOR ALL OF US THAT DO NOT HAVE PETS THIS TAME
Sorry people but most cats will poorly behave if not showed otherwise. My cat was raised in a very strict manner, no biting, no scratching was allowed. Dude there are a few ways to teach a cat not to bite without abusing it/laying a hand on it. Just saying...
that cat is dewormed till 2035.
That made me proper laugh! ;)
Lol
ha ha ha!!
Hahaha
Hahaha
I just gave my cat a tablet for the first time and it was so quick and stress-free, thank you!

Definitely a two person endeavor! Kitties (we have 4!!) Not happy still, but got it done with this method ❤❤
The quietest cat I've ever seen. Thanks for the demo
Our cat hates taking tablets and really fights us but this technique worked a treat!! Thank you so much!

Thank you!!! This was a perfect demonstration. My first cat pill endeavor was an easy success!
This video really helped me immensely when giving my cat Tapeworm killer pills. Thanks a lot for this upload y'all.
What a nice cat! Just gave my cat a worm pill and this technique worked like a champ... Thanks for showing us... I had no idea how but this is simple....
I wish my cat had her as his vet! She is stunning!
Creeper

This is my definition of a really beautiful person
Ok but i live alone....
Very good information i have now bought a pill popper and i find it's much easier than your fingers
This is the best way by far tried all of the methods this is the only one that worked.

it is impossible for my cat to let me do this

hahahahhaha ur in luck to have a calm cat like that,,,mine puts a freaking fight
Thank you, clearest video on the topic yet. We'll see if it works with my wiggly, feistly one but at least the steps and instructions are here.
This was the best video for me.Thanks for the upload
Thanks a lot, this helped me a lot and took a lot of potential stress from my cat.

I’m hoping this is why my kitten, Zinc, is throwing his food up. It’s shortly after eating. What a sweet kitty.
This girl is very Nicely spoken
what shot did you give her before the demo? it worked really well!
Yeah, it seemed sedated.
Yep, might be one of those Heroin addicted cats.
Uncle Snorker 😂 omg shut up lol
more likely skooma addicted

That is a well behaved kitty!

thanks this was much easier than getting her to eat wet food with crushed up pill in it
Thanks alot this video helped me from the first try i give my cat the deworming tablet in the home
I love it. Poor kitty didn't even see it coming.
Good luck tryin that was my older cat, who has learned the power of his tongue and claws.

Yah… right.
It’s one of those things that’s easier said (and seen) than done.
Thanks anyhoo…
Thank goodness this worked. She was straight clinching her teeth shut lol
My cat would literally chew off my face if I tried that with her :(
Very very docile cat!
Thanks for posting this - very informative and useful.
Ha ha that's because that cat a nice cat. Our cat a nutta and his 14 years old. And til this day we all still fight who's going to give him the worm tablet. Lol 😆
As soon as they show the cat I laugh because that's my cat. He hates that stainless steel table.
That isn't even a real cat - its a glove puppet or something...
+TheLoveViking Thanks for that, Im now covered in coffee, lmao
+TheLoveViking it is a real cat. as you can see it is flicking its tounge and even blinked. if u pay attention to its body movement
+katherine gheerow thanks for that, taking on board your feedback I will now promote my classification from glove puppet to animatronic robocat
TheLoveViking lol, If that fails you could always go with CGI... That cat is way too chilled to be real :p
EyeAmBatman :P it may be a tamed cat as you can see its body movement. the way is flicks its tounge and blinks. and when their petting it its fur wiggles a bit :P
what a good kitty!

Thank you so much, it´s hard to give Filou a tablet. It really worked. It´s inside the cat now :)))) Thanks!
Oh my krikey you are so cute. And TC also. Thanks for the video, trying it out now.......
HAHAHAHA ARE THOSE MORE PILLS HUMAN?!?!
IM LOOKIN LIKE IM LOOKIN TO THE SKYYY MEOW m(^@.@^)m
thank you so much this helped me and my cat a lot!
oh let me just fetch my veterinary assistant so I can give my cat a tablet...
ugh you make it look so easy lol
Poor cat got shoved down its throat 3 times 😓
Fantastic, thank you for showing!
This saved my life.
Thank you very much! This video is truly helpful!
Why can’t I find a video on the horrible rabid drooling and foaming that occurs when I try to attempt this. It’s horrible for both of us.
Gonna have to try that first one on my own, but I'm also worried because my cat has teeth and gum problems that I fear could be made worse trying it.
WEAR GLOVES
Hope the poor cat is not having an overdose of all these pills ! :D
Very helpful video, thanks
Can't believe no one commented on how cute the vet is.
Idk if my cat will be that well behaved plus I'm by myself I might have to wrap her in a towel lol
I doubt thats a cat
I don't have an assistant right now! But I have to give Mr. Cat a pill. It hurts a lot, because he's very strong and scratchy but he refuses to eat it with the food!!
Thank you so much for this!!! Made my life (and the cats) a whooole lot easier!
Thanks so much! this is very helpful. my cat wont eat crushed tablets with food. I am still worried she wont swallow or it will end up in her windpipe, but I give it a try. It looks easy. Only problem, I dont have anyone to hold her for me.

"good boy" - cat was about to choke!
The cat is like "fuck you guys" ^^
lol, luckily I do this alone and have no problem, maybe because it's just a quarter of the tablet or maybe because my kitty is used to me opening its mouth and she would never bite my fingers off :D Injections, however, she did alone and smoothly in other video, I needed assistance with them and even with another person, there were going terrible :C It's probably because everyone in the house lacks balls to push the needle in and we're not quick or brave enough with what we're doing >_> My kitty got pills prescribed for 14 days and 6 antibiotic injections, hopefully the curing period will fly fast. thanks for the vids!
Any more tablets and he'll be invincible!
Thanks much for your help, now my pet will not suffer from my help!
The cat is obviously a paid actor
Great advice!
Merrill Prusse We were apprehensive about doing this, and contemplating it, it seemed impossible to get our tabby to swallow his pill. But with your simple directions, it was a cinch. We accomplished it the very first time without incident, even with a slightly uncooperative cat.
It worked! Thank you. Not to mention I also had one hand in a cast! Ha ha ha
What a docile cat...
How do you know for sure it got swallowed? I assumed they were, but i'm finding them spit out on the floor.
Am wondering if that is a real cat...🤔 The silence/kind behavior at the end.. 🙂😿❤️👍
I DID IT , DAMN !!!!
Thanks,this video helped a lot !.
I like her accent. sweet.
When I lift my cats head up, he clenches his jaw tighter though.. what am I doing wrong?
What if we have to give the pills at home, where we can't drug the cat?
Hmm, they don't say what to do if the cat gets his claws up and swipes at the offending hand
I've gotten chomped pretty severely across the fingernail doing this. I'll use a pill popper any day.
