So far, I've read nearly all of her books and I am totally swept up in Three Pines, the characters and the stories that entrigue and engage.
Absolutely love her and all her works. She is the best story teller I can think of and I so admire her skill. I can't wait to read this new book. I am so glad I saw this interview.
I am a big fan. I have read and listen to all of her books. So glad to see the interview.
Love her books! I was hesitant to watch the series because I already visualized what each character looked like. The only character that looked and fitted the role was Ruth Zardo. The actress nailed her personality!
Superior. That's the best description of Penny's stories.
Excellent, I was disappointed that they haven’t mentioned Sandalwood and a slight wisp of Rose! But then the first two episodes are told from Armande Gamache’s point of view and it might be difficult to throw that in as his aroma
Love your books. Such an incredible writer .
She dropped some beautiful writing advice.
Please more story lines about Native people. So much to learn.😊
I am beyond excited about the new book and the series!
I think this book rates highly in her series. However, I would have talked about what she disagreed with in the tv series. i know there are purists out there that will be complaining about the differences. I will not do spoilers but would love to discuss this topic with other readers of Louise Penny
Wonderful interview!
love her. Read all.
Why are some of the characters names/features/stories mixed up in the show. Gabri & Olivier are wonderful in the books but their characteristics are swapped and where is that over the top Gabri?? Many of the characters are greatly cast
I agree, but feel that most of the main characters are MIS cast, as is the physical setting. Very confusing!
A 5 star book
I LOVE her books. She writes so beautifully and is very clever on how she keeps her characters going in a realistic way. It would be very hard to have 18 murders in a tiny town, so she has worked that beautifully. I love that she uses real places, especially restaurants. I find myself looking them up on line just get know what they look like. I didn't like the TV series so I'll not finish watching. I felt the same way about the show based on Tana French's books...another favorite writer of mine. I am also looking forward to reading the book she co-authored with Hillary Clinton.
Her therapist was correct. Writers should let their characters tell the story. You don't need to explain the characters; their actions will reveal who they are.
Is she coming to nh?
Also disappointed that they skipped Jane’s story
Excellent books, and an excellent show, comparable to the perfection of Agatha Christie and Poirot with David Suchet. Can't wait for Season 2.
Does she have a problem with how poorly her characters were portrayed by the series? They're unrecognizable. Gamache is the only one even close. Sorry - I didn't notice she answered it
Did 3 Pines survive the 2023 fires? We are so worried!
She's great, but I could not stop hearing all the clicking noises, presumably her beads rubbing against the back of her lav mic. Whoever mic'd her up should have seen that coming.
Doesn’t have an ending!
I wasn't impressed with the series cast. Molina is not refined and thoughtful enough to play Gamache.
Saw it last weekend. Molina is fine ... not exact but much better than Nathaniel Parker was.
I have not read the books. No time for that. I tried to watch the Amazon show but could not get past 5 minutes. It was bad. Bad acting and the Blue Jay thing with the feather was so contrived and stupid. It is bad. I bet the books are better. They could not be worse.
Hopefully you will read or listen to the audio version sometime soon. In the last year or so, I’ve listened to all of them and I enjoy them immensely. As always, the books are much better than the television series because the characters are developed over time, especially the Three Pines residents. Ruth is a hoot and you just get her or the others until you read/listen to the books.
Well why are you commenting about books you haven’t read??? Clearly you aren’t a reader . . .
@@gaylaaustin7468 Because I saw part of the amazon show. I think that is clear in my post. And I am a reader. I just do not have the time for that sort of entertainment reading. I am finishing up my second masters and going for a doctorate. Not tooting my own horn. I am only making sure you understand that your assumption is very wrong.
Looks old
What? That’s pertinent how, exactly?
