In another interview sgt Beikirch goes into detail about his early military experiences, his ****ups, disciplinary actions, reprimands ect. I found it remarkable and profound his honesty and candor describing himself without shame but with a sense of curiosity in why he did things he did. From being assigned KP,HQ detail emptying wastebaskets, mopping floors, errand boy, being sprung from jail for DUI, to vietnam, honorable discharge, living in a cave for two years, recipient of the Medal of Honor, master degrees, student counselor of remarkable renown. Humble!!!!! It would have been a Honor for me to have met this man. What a awesome story.
This hero has left us, December 26, 2021, and his incredibly courageous story and dedicated service to humanity affirms this bottom line: When all else falls aside, the only thing that matters is, "Did I make a difference?" Mr. Beikirch is one who inarguably did so.
That took a lot of courage to relate the moment when Dale gave his life for him. I do not think I could have remained as composed as he did. I could see the feeling in his face and eyes. Sorry that you lost Dale but he gave you more than life.
God bless you and yours. Thank you for your service.

Mr. Beikirch was a counselor at my sons' school. He had such a positive influence on many kids that attended. A truly special man.
