- Say what you will about them, but we’ve got a soft spot for a clean third gen Camaro. Especially when it’s home built, in full drag setup, with mirrored twin turbos and just enough street trim to make it feel like a proper car - not some bone rattling racecar. Our pal from Jessie’s Performance brought this damn near perfect customer car out to LS Fest West - and sand storm or not, we had to feature this thing.

Back in highschool, a white IROC-Z pulled up in the compound and that really turned heads. The long hood is really something. A family friend also had one back in the day. Truly special 💯

I’ve been self teaching welding and wiring, got my old beater functioning reliably. These type of stories kept me going through mistakes and errors. Now I enjoy my beast of burden. Happy to see this new group of people my age rolling in with sick builds from our youth. 🤘🔥😎🔥🤘

I love these cats so much I built a model of one when I was 7 and fell in love then once I turned 16 I had enough money so I bought a 1987 iroc and that thing will never leave my possession

My first car was a 92 RS. 350 automatic. I did a t5 conversion in one night when I was 18. A few years later I bought a 90 RS with a 305 and factory t5. I then built a 355 for it. I love 3rd gens, I’ll never sell either of mine.

Larry Chen has been my inspiration to be brave an talk to people about their cars, I like how respectful and attentive he is when he talks to people about things they put all the love and work into. Love it...IROC Z were iconic growing up in a rural town in the 90's where rat tails and mullets were the social norm.

I had a red 92 RS with a 5spd that I thought was cool, even with the worthless 3.1 under the hood. This thing is something special.
That is my dream car right there. Ls swapped third gen. I’d trade my vette for one with no regrets

I had an 87 coupe with a 2.8
Wrote that off and got an 88 coupe with 5.0 tbi. Fun cars to drive. They handle well.

The 3rd Gen Z28 I-ROC'S are so vintage🔥🔥🔥🔥 1000 hp! Damn!
Five years ago I purchased an 84 Z28 for $350. I had a 350 TPI motor, harness & computer in storage from a 92 Corvette that we dropped in. Cleaned up the body and interior a bit and it was my daily driver for about four years. Wish I had not sold it.
Damn! That's a dope Camero. The color scheme is rad and I like how it continues into the engine. That shit was clean AF, too. Such a sick build.

Larry....This Iroc is a real sweetheart of an iconic Chevrolet of the 1980s. Thank you very much for showcasing it with the builder. He is very good and just a terrific man.
I don’t know what I’m more surprised by. The fact that this thing hasn’t twisted like a taco...or the fact that his bumpers don’t have stress cracks
It’s 1000hp street car and you’re acting like it has a 500” nitrometh blown hemi in it lol
@@nalley6815 these things develop stress cracks with the stock 185hp 305
@@danielnunez3518No they don't. The number one enemy of these cars is the level of abuse they receive. I've seen them get stress cracks but it's always with higher power and hard launches. Sub-frame connectors or a cage need to go on if you're adding power. If you are getting stress cracks with no added power you're abusing the hell out of the car.
I own an 89 Iroc Z I put my whole heart into that car, it feels so good to have somewhat of a recognition it's a race car if you really want to send it. But then again slide me in LS swap I love my car😏
Subtle?? Yeah those slicks, fender exit exhaust and missing headlights leading to turbos is completely subtle 😂😂

This is such a amazing build, do you have a video showing the parts such as the engine, turbos, how it was assembled and stuff?
I drove a couple of those cars with a manual trans during my rental car heydays in the 80's & 90's when these were out.
I even drove a few Firebirds(essentially the same car)
The one Firebird I drove it down the main road to the airport terminal going about 70mph , got threatened by the police by being dead meat with him but he did not do anything to me and let me off the hook that day. And those cars had the 305 engines at that time.

Just to show you by simply choosing the right color combo can make a car look good.
I am currently in the process of finishing my 5.3, tko600 swap in my 90 RS. I wish I started with that clean of a car mine is about half as clean as this one.

Hey Larry, what a great find! Such a beautiful car... I do wish you knew a little more about drag racing... Only because I feel like you left so much on the table. You didn't seem impressed by his 1/8th mile times but that car is crazy fast for not being an all out crazy drag car.. but i still appreciate the video
What's with the two different engines in the beginning? One has turbos on each side of the engine, the other has them in the headlight location.
One is probably the builder's car since they say they shot something near the women's restroom first
