Marvel writer Mark Gruenwald did think it was absurd that Magneto tolerated Red Skull (he didn't write that scene), so a few months later he wrote a Captain America story where Magneto explains the reason why he didn't immediately kill Red Skull was that he wasn't sure that was the real one (he was presumed dead at the time), then as soon as he has confirmation he locks Red Skull into a bunker without any food and leaves him there to starve to death. Obviously Red Skull made it out alive because it's comics, but that was about 30 years ago and I don't think he's met Magneto again.
They had met again when red skull stole professor X’s psychic powers, magneto’s powers where severely weakened at the time so he just beat the fuck out of him with his bare fists
There's a rather cool Wolverine solo comic from the 80's or 90's in which he goes up against a Nazi cyborg. Wolverine wins, but the cyborg gets away and has diplomatic immunity or some such bullshit. Wolverine then says "Don't worry... I'll call a friend" Cut to some time later and the cyborg is in an airport when a small toy robot bumps into his foot. He bends to pick it up and as he stands up he finds standing before him, wearing a black overcoat and hat (much like his first appearance in the X-Men film) and smiling broadly is Magneto. The colour drains from the cyborg's face and Magneto politely leads him off panel saying "We have much to discuss" The next panels are close ups of the toy robot, first rising slightly, then being dismantled bolt by bolt by an unseen force. The End. Absolutely genius.
That's brilliant, I love that Wolverine is just like "Hmm... this Nazi's going to escape... too bad I can't straight-up violate international law like that........ But you know who wouldn't care about doing something like that...? Might as well give Magneto a call, I'm sure he'll have some 'opinions' about this."

Dr. Doom: “Just ignore him and he’ll go away.” Magneto: “Okay but you owe me big time.” Dr. Doom: “Fine I’ll cast the spell that’ll make Xavier sound like Micky Mouse every time he tries to use his Telepathy.”
One time he did try to help resurrect him in the body of Captain America but he made it extremely clear that he only did it because he valued his word and if he didn’t give his word then Red Skull would be dead completely.
Doom and Wanda (both romani) teaming up to beat Red Skull and then Magneto joining in would be amazing. Doom asking Mephisto if he can trade his mom's soul for Red Skull.
Dr Doom was probably giving Red Skull the same face as Magneto, you just couldn’t tell because of the mask. Remember, Doom is of Romani descent so would also have been sent to the camps if he was around at that time (and actually, giving the artwork looks like it’s from a comic published in the 60s, at the time of publication, Doom probably would’ve been old enough to have lived through the Holocaust, so even if he hadn’t been sent to and survived the camps himself like Magneto had been, he probably lived in fear of them as Latvaria is likely located within the area the Nazis occupied during WWII). Maybe that explains why Magneto didn’t instantly butcher Red Skull - he was playing rock, paper, scissors with Doom behind Red Skull’s back to see which one got the privilege of doing him in. ‘I just don’t like it’ is a perfectly valid reason not to like something, the thing is though, if that genuinely is your feelings about something, you probably don’t have an extreme reaction to it, you’d just be indifferent and move on; you wouldn’t vehemently rag on in and complain non-stop about it.
I once read an old school comic aboout Doom's origins were as a young boy his people were attacked by Nazis, Doom being a scientific genius even at that age invented a chemical solution that he sprayed on the horse drawn wagons his people were fleeing in making them invunerable to explosive artillary shells. Classic comicbook science was wild.
I can see that interaction just play out, just two of the strongest evil minds making bets on who gets to torture Red Skull on certain days like a separated sadist couple discussing the 'family pet'. Magneto: "So you can have him for mondays, wednesdays, and fridays, while I can get him on tuesdays, thursdays, and saturdays" Doom: "I'm running a government, I can't torture him on weekdays!" Magneto: "Well so am I!" Doom: "Please, Erik, we both know you delegate your responsibilities to your cabinet" And I can just imagine they have an agreement where Doom gets to publically humiliate Red Skull on Latverian Independence day, while Magneto gets to twist the iron from his bones on Holocaust Rememberance day, and for Hitler's Birthday, they let him try to escape and hide in the wilderness
There was actually a bit in the comics where Doom had to interact with Red Skull, and he said something to the extent of (and I'm paraphrasing as I don't remember the exact quotes) "I have seen your peoples' final solution. You tried to end myself and my people in your camps. I lost people because of you. After that day I swore to never tolerate your kind ever again." (And I don't remember exactly what Doom did after the quote but it was basically a little "fuck you"-action that left Red Skull without his nazi buddies and surrounded by a bunch of very angry people who weren't too fond of nazi's either.)

@@tommarsdon5644 It isn't. Here's the full context: They brought up She-Hulk twerking which segmented into them talking about the critics of the show and making it really hard to not like things. It simply brought to mind the thought of “Why do I specifically not like She-Hulk?” The answer to that question was that writers actively mischaracterise or misrepresent other characters to make them worse so that someone else seems better by comparison. Thank you for the part at the end. As a writer, it annoys me how people throw "woke" around and that often the "anti-woke" people try to lump me into their crap. I became a writer because I felt an increasing trend in things I didn't like in media and I wanted to figure out why I didn't like it, what it is, and be able to explain it so even if I couldn't make something better myself, I could inform someone on how to do better. I dislike how "woke" or "representation" has become new buzzword because it is a small and simple word trying to describe many complex characteristics of modern writing, for good and bad. Usually when someone calls a movie/show/whatever "woke" they don't know what they are talking about. For example the new Prey movie, a bunch of people tried to say it was woke to get people to boycott it. Woke in this modern context is something that is, or has aspects, of a politically progressive view trying to purposefully make a point of improvement in society. Using that, no, it really wasn't. It was about a girl, whose tribe (mainly men) told her she can't hunt, and proves them wrong in the ultimate test. There might be a point, but it isn't purposeful. They never said she couldn't hunt BECAUSE she was a girl, but it could be argued they implied that it is. That is not purposeful either way. The roots of this stuff does stem from good. Writers want to shine a light on bad topic. However, it feels like the production studios and corporations always stick their hands into it and force the writers to write in characters and dialogue that fits into a strict stereotype and it makes the writers look lazy and it makes the cause they are trying to showcase demeaning towards itself. Modern sexism (and similar derogatory subjects) is subtle and deeply ingrained into the few left who follow it. But often in modern writing there will be a scene where a male character will say straight to a female character "you belong in a kitchen" or something similar. To me that invalidates their whole point because they boiled their argument into an out of date stereotype. It only gets an eyeroll out of the audience and makes the writer look out of touch with the subject. Similarly, I can't take the Bechdel test seriously because it devolves the interactions between female characters into a checklist instead of anything of actual quality. It is better to write something, then maybe reference the Bechdel test afterward, instead of going into a project following the Bechdel test to the letter, which is what most media feels like now. I shouldn't feel like I'm playing "corporate trope bingo" when I indulge in media. That is what made me so annoyed. After some time breaking alot of this down I thought "wait, I heard this before" because so much modern media reuse the same stereotypes and tropes to push important topics. I don't want to play bingo in my head with these modern writing patterns and I don't want to go over a checklist when I write. Its why Wolfenstein the New Order had a few political points I disagreed with, but told them so well it should be praised for its writing (also awesome gameplay) where its sequel The New Colossus had more political points I agreed with, but told them so poorly that I couldn't enjoy it no matter how much better the gameplay was. Sorry for leaving this rant. I doubt anyone will read it, but I ended up hyper-fixated on trying to explain what went through my head on this topic.
@@bobbysworld281995 What I'm starting to see now is "Make your own" and then some person does make their own but its an extreme over-correction and over-reaction to the point of looping back around and not being any better than what originally set them off onto it.
Modern sexism in the "few" left who follow it? I hope you're aware that sexism is still sexism when a woman does it, and we're currently experiencing a massive wave of that.

The original time Red Skull got transferred into a clone, he didn’t have the red skull face. Instead he got that from an attempt at murdering Captain America with his chemical weapon that causes the look. Later on it is also revealed that he may be able to transfer his mind into clone bodies, but he has to really die for that and it isn’t a pleasant feeling. May explain why a guy specialized on masks since his earliest days doesn’t switch over for a new body just for the looks.
The way I had it explained to me was, the term "stay woke" was something POC said to each other as a way of reminding each other that any interaction with white people, but especially cops, carries with it the possibility of you ending up a victim of racial/police violence.

Best moment in comic history is the Joker from freaking DC getting mad that he's a Nazi "I may be a criminal lunatic, but I'm an American criminal lunatic!"
I have to say, I really like the editing of these newer videos. That's the thing that's made Magneto interesting for the past 50 years or so: he uses the wrong methods but is otherwise someone we can get behind. Now the reason Magneto lets the Red Skull plead his case is because he's literally letting him plead his case: Magneto has decided to pursue justice on the Red Skull. First he got the Red Skull to acknowledge that he was the actual original WWII Red Skull and not an imitator, and then presented charges. And that's when the Red Skull said what he said. Magneto was actually trying to be fair, which again is the side of Magneto that readers can respect.

There's a rather cool Wolverine solo comic from the 80's or 90's in which he goes up against a Nazi cyborg.
Wolverine wins, but the cyborg gets away and has diplomatic immunity or some such bullshit.
Wolverine then says "Don't worry... I'll call a friend"
Cut to some time later and the cyborg is in an airport when a small toy robot bumps into his foot. He bends to pick it up and as he stands up he finds standing before him, wearing a black overcoat and hat (much like his first appearance in the X-Men film) and smiling broadly is Magneto.
The colour drains from the cyborg's face and Magneto politely leads him off panel saying "We have much to discuss"
The next panels are close ups of the toy robot, first rising slightly, then being dismantled bolt by bolt by an unseen force. The End.
Absolutely genius.

@@HotDogTimeMachine385 Mephistopheles wouldn't even accept him. Even Evil Has Standards.
Magneto: "So you can have him for mondays, wednesdays, and fridays, while I can get him on tuesdays, thursdays, and saturdays"
Doom: "I'm running a government, I can't torture him on weekdays!"
Magneto: "Well so am I!"
Doom: "Please, Erik, we both know you delegate your responsibilities to your cabinet"
And I can just imagine they have an agreement where Doom gets to publically humiliate Red Skull on Latverian Independence day, while Magneto gets to twist the iron from his bones on Holocaust Rememberance day, and for Hitler's Birthday, they let him try to escape and hide in the wilderness

@@RobinRhombus2how does She-Hulk twerking put down other characters?
@@tommarsdon5644 It isn't. Here's the full context: They brought up She-Hulk twerking which segmented into them talking about the critics of the show and making it really hard to not like things. What specifically prompted me was her saying “Yeah, like, even if I have, like, criticisms for the Marvel universe,” (22:29) which segwayed into some other stuff that isn't that important for what I'm talking about. It simply brought to mind the thought of “Why do I specifically not like She-Hulk?” The answer to that question was that writers actively mischaracterise or misrepresent other characters to make them worse so that someone else seems better by comparison. This isn't just a problem with She-Hulk. As I mentioned, this is also a problem in the comics.

@@WildBluntHickok Yes, but that is outside of the context of my comment as most modern popular writing don't cover male issues.

May explain why a guy specialized on masks since his earliest days doesn’t switch over for a new body just for the looks.

Best moment in comic history is the Joker from freaking DC getting mad that he's a Nazi "I may be a criminal lunatic, but I'm an American criminal lunatic!"
I have to say, I really like the editing of these newer videos. In a way, the new focus on having the images appear when relevant with zooms and pans really helps to freshen things up and kind of helps to convey a more casual vibe. As for the relevant comment for the subject of the video? Nazis suck and I love seeing them get shat on, especially hearing about the many ways in which Red Skull is just absolutely dunked on.
Can we just appreciate Karl being an unproblematic king, like this channel really is a breath of fresh air from all the toxic crap on youtube right now
Regarding the "woke": It reminds me of an apologist that tried to excuse something extremely immoral.
And the host just kept asking him: "Explain X." each time he tried to pivot. And similar to those that can't explain what is "woke". He could not explain a single situation in which that immoral act would be okay. And he just broke down and started screaming and cursing at the host, calling them heathens and all that shiz.
Let me guess was someone trying to get Kent hovind or Ken Ham to define the biblical word “kind”
@@jmurray1110 Dont think it was. I think it was someone trying to argue why child diddling is okay, because their holy book says its fine.
@@Kattlarv fuck even fundamentalist at least promote some level of consent
It’s usually terrible advice as they consider marriage as an accept all but children are usually off the table
When joker thinks you've gone to far....
red skull looks cool, so long as you know nothing about him at all
when I was wee I had a lego red skull minifigure and I thought he looked so cool I always tried to fit him into any game I was playing in my head. now I'm older I realise that constantly playing with a nazi character seems a little weird
"Who gives a shit. They're nazis" - The Major, Helsing Abridged
"The only way I'd want them to interact, is that Red Skull exists, and Magneto unexists him."
That was perfect! XD
Me, not reading the notes: His guest's voice sounds damned familiar.
Guest: "I'm 'Blasian'..."
Me: Holy shit, is that N'jalia Rhee?!? (Checks notes, confirms) W00T!!!!
The Red Skull has a point about Magneto, or at least a partial point: while Magneto's motivations are laudable, he has been willing to kill indiscriminately, depending on who's doing the writing.
Magneto was sent to a concentration camp at a young age and was deeply scared. Mutant kind is constantly hunted down, and all magneto wants to do is to stop it. Even if he has to kill the hunters, it is nothing like the Nazis
@@omegaprime9794 And in the hands of some writers, he'll also kill ordinary non-mutants who pose no particular threat to him. So before we go down that road where every villain is justified, while Magneto's concerns are justified, some of his actions are NOT.
@kingbeauregard I'm not saying he's justified, I'm just saying he not a short Austrian man who got rejected from art school and decided to make it everyone else's problem
@@omegaprime9794 and that doesn't mean that skull doesn't have a point. In the continuities where he wants to kill most or all humans to establish mutant supremacy, he basically has the same ideals of ubermensch rule as the nazis. Just a disagreement on what makes an ubermensch an ubermensch.
Magneto is such a goated ass character.
If 9 people are in the room with 1 Nazi and don't leave or kick his ass, you just have 10 Nazis.
I love how the Kingpin's go-to strategy for fucking with people is to strip down to his underwear before beating the brakes off of them.
My favorite moment with magneto is that he physically beat the fuck out of red skull without using his powers and called him not worth killing.
"... Americans need a hate ray to be racist?"
I'm an American and that was fucking hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love the vids guys, keep up the amazing work!
your candy canes line up with your couch. YES!! I love this, I can't un-see this
I mean, it's 100% what Jack Kirby would have wanted, so in a way it's the writers continuing to honour his memory.
I love how much this video about the Red Skull was about things that he and people aligned with him would hate to hear.
The overemphasized outline of Red Skull's skull just makes him look like a troll face
Punching Nazis is a slippery slope, and I love water slides.
The hate ray should be sponsored by Twitter
Twitter is the hate ray 😄
The idea of anyone getting upset over the Wolfenstien ad campaign is just so funny to me. 'They mocked nazis and you got offended by that, what do you think that say about you?'
Yep there's only one reason to be offended by that.
the hate ray was just a laser pointer, just picked out guys who where already dicks
When jojo rabbit came out people criticized it for its portrayal of Nazis. Like they saw it as making jokes about what is the worst thing to ever happen in human history. But the thing is that I say make fun of Nazis all you want. They wanted to be feared, so don’t let him get what they want make jokes about them, bully them, do all that. If they didn’t want to be made fun they should’ve won the war they started. They took the L now they get made fun of for the rest of history.
I'm not normally into comics etc but I really enjoyed this. Liked the back and forth. N'Jaila was a delight 😊
Black person: Exists
"Why'd you have to bring race into it???"
I don't like Nazis, you can quote me on this if i ever become a RUclipsr
I remember one case where someone posted something along the lines of "f*ck w*ite s*premacy" (censored so it doesn't get buried).
Someone else responded "this is discrimination against Christians". Really curious the connection they made.
That is weird for so many reason's.
Like what?
@@ludovicusbathory1715 Yeah bet you never realised a religion where the literal messiah is some middle eastern Jewish guy who preached tolerance is actually all about white supremacy. It's obvious once you think about it - if your parents dropped you on the head a few hundred too many times as a baby.
@@Neion8
Those people believe Jesus and everybody important in the bible except Judas was a white guy. Religious art makes them all white and often even blonde.
@@saagabragi6938 True, although race-swapped Jesus is hardly specific to Europe/'white' people - hell, China even had the second deadliest war in human history over some guy claiming to be Jesus' brother (born 1800 years too late).
It's ironic that in the pursuit to be more like their messiah, many end up making their messiah to be more like them.
It would be funny to put all the various christian race supremacist groups into a room and letting them talk (shout) it out.
@@saagabragi6938That even wasn't because the Renessance and Medieval Artists are all Bigoted, its Just Christians depicting Jesus as "One of Us" there is Asian Jesus, White Jesus, Black Jesus ect, Jesus and the Bible Characters are depicted as any number of Ethnicities because People wanted to see them as "One of Us".
Thanos: I might've killed an unknowable number of people just to try to get in the pants of someone who already rejected me but that...
*looks at red skull*
That's a degree of evil even I look down on.
The Kingpin and the Joker are better people than approaching 1/3 of North America.
Damn.
I've been thinking about this concept. Glad it was covered here
The minute that someone says "woke" or worse, "SJW" I immediately stop talking to them now because I know that they have nothing worthwhile to say. These are the same people that fail to realize that superhero comic books have been about social justice from the very first one, Action Comics #1in1938. And you would hope that anyone in charge of any situation is "woke". It means they are paying attention. It means they care. It means that they are smart enough to learn something about what they are doing instead of going blindly through life in a state of ignorance.
And that's also the minute you know they've taken a side, and as Carl said "you're one of them" to those people, and more likely than not they just want to blow hot air and make themselves feel superior than actually have an intelligent conversation and let you change their opinion.
The sad thing is there are people on both ends of the spectrum who have decided there are sides and they need to "win" against the other, usually by throwing childish insults like "man baby" or "whamen". Their screaming makes it really hard to hear the grown ups in the middle who actually want to discuss and learn and grow.
@@Revan_7even The sad truth is that so few of them are superior in any way because, as Carl's girlfriend so wisely stated, they can't say anything beyond the buzzwords.
After the four-plus years of hell that we all lived through, I became very good a debating people who would actually engage in a real conversation. But more often than not, it devolved into them name-calling and making personal attacks when they saw they had no facts to stand on.
@@Revan_7even Except the people in the middle often are the reason things have gotten worse. Sometimes there isn't actually a middle ground, you need to just say "No, fuck you." Even being a centrist is often about vomiting buzzwords and irrationally trying to find a middle ground.
The super mad about it cape thing got a pretty good chuckle out of me, I hope you guys are all doing well and having a good start to ‘23.
I've got the Red Skulls book, it's called 12 rules for life.
Even people who aren’t in the marvel universe thinks red skull sucks like that crossover comic where the joker gets pissed that hes been working together with a nazi and procliams “I may be a Lunatic but im an American Lunatic”
