That's true. Scientists always said that an earthquake under 8M could not cause a tsunami but the tsunami that destroyed so many people in Sri Lanka and Indonesia was caused by only a 7.7 earthquake. Only God knows the truth

We can not see what is going on down 35-38 kms deep. Is the magma chamber/vein at that depth ? Could a huge chunk of crust break and plug lava flow and build up pressure for a V4 + explosion ? I would not hang around. If the flow stops and rumblings continues, I would be far away as possible.

A bugout bag is something everyone should have prepared.....3 days food and water, personal hygiene,first aid and self protection are must have items. Communication and identification,credit cards and cash, are also recommended. Be safe stay vigilent and may the Lord be with you.
I had one. And when i needed it.. it was behind the fire i needed to flee from. I always Carry my id, drivers license and bankcard in my pocket. Important papers are on 2 harddrives. One in a bank and one on my work in a vault. If i cant het go those.. well than nobody had their papers and there is coulance. Tip. EMail someone you really can trust trust the stuff. Take it on a USB device and than Both delete the email and empty the bin in the emailaccounts.
Keep shoes near you in case, windows can shatter, glass mirrors and items in cupboards. If you choose to be under a door frame, don’t put fingers in doorway in case door slams shut.

I never heard him express that kind of concern before, which means this volcanic activity on this island is most like getting ready to push out more lava because that's what the earthquakes are about. Yellowstone caldera is doing the same thing indicating magma pushing up, but Yellowstone will be catastrophic for North America, and the rest of the planet will have long winters.

@@DVincentW yes. La Palma's biggest concern now is that the volcano and the Earthquakes cause the American Trouble. These Earthquakes have to get way stronger to break of part of the land and cause tsunami's. The fact that there are many small en medium ones makes the tsunami way less plausible. Just sent prayers for residents of la Palma and imagen your house and land being under 10 meters of lava.
From what the geologist say North part of La Palma is filling with Magma ...it could be a ticking disaster waiting to happen .. BP showed a map of it and Spain knows....God Bless Stay Safe

I think 🤔 of him frequently when I'm out riding the bicycle. Went out at 5 am this morning scavenging for refundable containers and found plenty, what an ordeal, without a volcano.

Please don't wait too long. You need to go before the people panic. We evacuate for hurricanes. I always try to leave ahead of the crowd. That way, I'm not stuck in the traffic jams.
Remember! Earlier earthquakes have ALREADY loosed the joints in your home! The cement and plaster will have cracks. A small quake can do great damage to a weaker building, one that has already been shook loose by earlier quakes !!!
True. And it's not just the magnitude of the quake that matters, but also how the house was built. A very ill-suited for earthquakes-house can collapse with a small quake, but a very earthquake-proof house may see little to no effect from the same quake.
Also, look at the dirt, plants, rocks all around your house. Do they show signs of stress and change? The very ground beneath your house could be changing ever so gradually to not take notice, but could give way over time. First rule in emergency is always safety! Never take chances with nature! I've felt 5.3 once. It was an aftershock of one same size hundreds of miles from here. It felt like a rolling and rhen like a straight line wind smashed into house. But no damage. But alarming and powerful. We can have them here in central US, but rarely.

Yea thats not going to happen this isn't really a fault with lots of energy built up like in places with subducting zones plus the quakies will be very short in duration which is less likely to cause damage, that dutch is full of it and manipulating to get views and its kinda rude to spread anxiety and fear to people

California here: been through a 7 before and while frightening it didn't do as much damage as you would expect to homes. Bridges and roads are vulnerable above 6. Good reporting. God is with you.
CA homes are built for earthquakes but are the homes on La Palma? Is their building code for quakes? That's the question. You'd think it would be but who knows.

Last night was horrendous! I watched the explosions and new vents opening up and resulting in huge avalanche of lava.. I was very scared for the people, the Palmeros.. I don't blame you Bushcraft Bear, for feeling the need to pack your dugout bag because if last night was anything to go by, things could get a lot worse before it gets better. The 6.8 that we were in years ago put some cracks in the sheet rock of the wood frame house. It moved furniture and cracked the 6 ft chimney at the base. The chimney had to be taken down, the walls repaired. I think the wood frame structure is what saved us. None of the walls collapsed. Be safe, don't be fearful. Psalm 91.May God be with you.

I thought the depth of the quake usually determines structural damage. The deeper quakes=less damage, quakes nearer the surface=more damage?

I never heard him express that kind of concern before, which means this volcanic activity on this island is most like getting ready to push out more lava because that's what the earthquakes are about.
Yellowstone caldera is doing the same thing indicating magma pushing up, but Yellowstone will be catastrophic for North America, and the rest of the planet will have long winters.

Earthquake swarms weren't normal then, but you say it's normal now?
It is normal in terms of impending eruptions and that's the only time you'll be right in terms of magma moving towards the surface, just like the earthquake swarms with this volcano.
Others will disagree with you on the time it is due, and matter of fact others claim it's overdue.

These Earthquakes have to get way stronger to break of part of the land and cause tsunami's. The fact that there are many small en medium ones makes the tsunami way less plausible.

From what the geologist say North part of La Palma is filling with Magma ...it could be a ticking disaster waiting to happen .. BP showed a map of it and Spain knows....God Bless Stay Safe

I think 🤔 of him frequently when I'm out riding the bicycle. Went out at 5 am this morning scavenging for refundable containers and found plenty, what an ordeal, without a volcano.

Remember! Earlier earthquakes have ALREADY loosed the joints in your home! The cement and plaster will have cracks. A small quake can do great damage to a weaker building, one that has already been shook loose by earlier quakes !!!
I was coming on to say just that. A bunch of smaller quakes have the potential to be as destructive as one big quake.
True. And it's not just the magnitude of the quake that matters, but also how the house was built. A very ill-suited for earthquakes-house can collapse with a small quake, but a very earthquake-proof house may see little to no effect from the same quake.
Also, look at the dirt, plants, rocks all around your house. Do they show signs of stress and change? The very ground beneath your house could be changing ever so gradually to not take notice, but could give way over time. First rule in emergency is always safety! Never take chances with nature!

I've felt 5.3 once. It was an aftershock of one same size hundreds of miles from here. It felt like a rolling and rhen like a straight line wind smashed into house. But no damage. But alarming and powerful. We can have them here in central US, but rarely.

Yea thats not going to happen this isn't really a fault with lots of energy built up like in places with subducting zones plus the quakies will be very short in duration which is less likely to cause damage, that dutch is full of it and manipulating to get views and its kinda rude to spread anxiety and fear to people

California here: been through a 7 before and while frightening it didn't do as much damage as you would expect to homes. Bridges and roads are vulnerable above 6. Good reporting. God is with you.
CA homes are built for earthquakes but are the homes on La Palma? Is their building code for quakes? That's the question. You'd think it would be but who knows.

Also short duration quakes like these dont really cause damage like longer lasting ones so even a large quake might only cause minimal damage if short duration. I don't think they are unaware of the fact they live on a volcano

Stay higher in regard to elevation. Poisonous gases can settle in low lying regions.

Please, leave while there's transportation that's still functioning. The ash in the air & water wlll effect machinery adversly once it builds up & then you'll not be able to leave.

Last night was horrendous! I watched the explosions and new vents opening up and resulting in huge avalanche of lava.. I was very scared for the people, the Palmeros.. I don't blame you Bushcraft Bear, for feeling the need to pack your dugout bag because if last night was anything to go by, things could get a lot worse before it gets better. Some of that was historic, out of context disinformation.
The 6.8 that we were in years ago put some cracks in the sheet rock of the wood frame house. It moved furniture and cracked the 6 ft chimney at the base. The chimney had to be taken down, the walls repaired. I think the wood frame structure is what saved us. None of the walls collapsed. Be safe, don't be fearful. Psalm 91.May God be with you.
