808 V I B E S you misunderstood my question I was asking if Macro Cosmos and Soul Absorption plus the DD archetype can be used successfully cause if you summon DD Survivor multiple times then sacrifice them to summon a more powerful monster with Macro Cosmos in play DD Survivor will come back again. Egyptian god cards to Holactie the Creator of Light anyone?
DD Survivor doesn't work as well, but DD Scout Plane does. Just be aware that Scout Plane comes back every End Step, and must be in attack mode. It also takes priority, so you can end up with three on the field in attack mode during your opponent's turn, which sucks.
I would like to add to some notes on the list to Gift Card's entry. In 2012, an American by the name of Jarel Winston used this card in a top 8 Exodia deck at the 2012 World Championship. He utilized it alongside another good bad card in my opinion named Hope For Escape. By combining it and several Gift Cards, one can draw between 4-6 cards in a single activation.
Another card along similar lines to Gift Card is The Paths of Destiny. Both players flip a coin: if Heads, that player gains 2000 Life Points; if Tails, they lose the same amount. Normally, chance-based cards are pretty crappy, but in Nurse Burn, the only chance is on the part of the one using it. If Nurse Reficule or Bad Reaction are out when Paths gets used, the opponent loses 2000 LP, regardless of the flip result.
I cannot THANK you enough for keeping the introduction short and getting started at 10 seconds! seriously thanks a lot. nowadays youtubers just babble bullshit for 3 minutes before getting started.
Yah, intros are the most important part of the video. I really don't understand the thought process of people with overly long rambilash intros other than the thought that they don't know what their doing.
I think a really cool idea for a list would be accidental success stories/combos in Yu-Gi-Oh, things aqua dolphin and the birdman otk. Random cards coming together to become meta only by accident
number 8. side effects? opponent activates bad reaction to simochi and chooses 3 cards. they draw 3 cards and you lose 6,000 life points. I would call that a very serious problem
I would if my opponent had a boss monster equipped with Megamorph but less than 3,000 less LP than me, or had a Darklord Nurse Reficule and I can't afford losing 3,000 LP, or had no card left in their deck, or the opposite of the aforementioned Megamorph situation applied; I can think of several reasons why using Dark Bribe against Gift Card can be beneficial, heck even against Upstart Goblin.
My original burn deck way way back at the dawn of yu-gi-oh ( when 1800 attack normal monsters were good and Gemini Elf / Summoned Skull were the gods ), used Bad reaction to simochi with Eye of truth. I see the opponents hand the whole time and they take 1000 damage if they have a spell every turn. ( along with other heal cards like some rain card that healed both players for 1000 :D )
3:03 you can also combo Side Effects with Appropriate. Continuous trap: You can activate this card when your opponent draws a card outside of his/her Draw Phase. Draw 2 cards.
How about 10 bad cards that became META by accident? Like the lvl e dragon union that was a staple in d ruler format since it happened to be a lvl 3 dragon with a weird effect.
I always enjoyed dropping side effects when I ran an agent deck just to watch my opponent think he was taking advantage just to summon a 10k mars on them
Nurse Reficule, I remember when it was known as "Nurse Reficule the Fallen One". I was unaware of the name change actually, and I used to use her in burn decks.
In combination with Nurse Burn / Simochi, you can also mention Dark Cure which would normally give your opponent LP each time they summon a monster. With the amounts of high ATK monsters summoned nowadays this could be extremely punishing for the enemy. Unfortunately, this combo is being held back by having to have both of them on the field and the amount of backrow removal that is currently played.
Bad Reaction to Simochi is the only card that has consistently been in every single one of my decks since I was a kid. When I first saw Gift Card I fell madly in love with it. Thanks for giving this combo the spotlight it deserves
I can’t believe I used to use a lot of these cards... Edit: I would always run self destruct button in my reversal quiz decks as plan B as it would fit and it’s good to take matches that you have a lead on.
"Libary" I'm sorry. I feel horrible inside. I've probably pronounced it wrongly myself once in my life. I hope me pointing that out didn't hurt you. You do good work and I look forward too seeing more of what you usually put out.
Self-Destruct Button can actually win tournaments with a gimmicky strategy involving the timing of Matches. According to Konami rules, a Match is 40 minutes, and if one player has not won 2 duels by this point, the winner is the one who has 1 win. If neither player has a win, it goes to Sudden Death, wherein a new Duel is started and after 4 turns, the player with the highest LP total wins. SDB can be used to stall out the timer until the Sudden Death round, where you then swap out Gift Card and Self-Destruct Button for a whole load of "Gain LP" and burn cards to take the win overall, resulting in one extremely annoyed opponent.
aaaah The Bistro Butcher. We sometimes play a free for all match with 4-6 of us. LP is calculated by number of player x 8000 or just plain 20k. We also have a ruling that if a player has been direct attacked, he is immune to all direct attack until his next turn. So having this free for all rule, You dont want to get hit by Bistro Butcher because you can lose by being decked out
I've actually managed to get Hiro's Shadow Scout to go off when opponent's next 3 draws were all spells a number of times, those are great moments. And then there's what you said. Anyway, I like giving Phantom Dragon to my opponent and using things like Numbing Grub in the Ice Barrier and Ground Collapse and Ojama decks to restrict opponent's ability to summon. I also like using cards like Royal Knight of the Ice Barrier in beat decks because rather than having to depend on my opponent having monsters I can run into to do battle damage, I can just make my own targets.
Side effects is also a great OTK card for some decks. As you can easily use it to have an 6k-8k lead on your opponents life points then combo it with easy to summon cards that gains attack equal to the life points difference, in fact my friends agent deck is crazy with this combo as combining it with honest and aegis and other life point gains is crazy, that plus 3 you just got from side effects probably won't help you as he already has all the conditions for an otk. I also have a train deck that makes use of Ravenous Tarantula, and side effects can easily bring me an OTK on the turn I play it.
9:38 Two more ways to use Present Card: 1: combine with Lightning Warrior, as it burns for 300 damage for every card in the opponent's hand every time it destroys a monster. 2: combine with cards like Coffin Seller if your opponent runs a lot of monsters, as it burns the opponent 300 every time they send a monster card to the graveyard (an effect that also pairs well with the likes of Vampire Lady and Vampire Lord), or Skull Invitation, which does the same thing for every card sent there (except it applies to the user as well, so I don't run it).
Gift Card is also really good in heavy draw Exodia decks, a couple of those gives you, at minimum, 3 cards out of Hope for Escape. Hell, when Upstart Goblin was at 3, you could draw like a madman with Hope for Escape back in the day.
With Side effects, if you attack a monster with lightning warrior, the opponent will lose a life points as they lose life points equal to the cards in their hand times 300
Nurse burn is still my absolute favorite deck, I would run 3 Marshmellon and 3 upstart goblins (back when it was unlimited I heard it has been turn semi in recent years)
8:41 I'm playing Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's games on DS and that bad card was useful for your deck that doesn't depend on battles but rather than inflicting damage points to your opponent, Luna's deck has a card of it and she has "Bad Reaction to Simochi" which it can inflict lots of damage when it is face-up and activates Gift Card (sorry for grammar). This was broken in Duel Links when you draw cards for your first turn that you have 2 Gift Cards and 1 Bad Reaction to Simochi.
Side effects could also be used with other opponent draw cards in a situation if you had a card like masked hero dark law where his effect is to banish every card your opponent draws that is drawn other than their draw phase
I know this is an older video but there was a great play you missed with Side Effects. If you use it and then activate Drastic Drop off your opponent draws three cards and then losses them while you gain 6000 life points
I actually ran Side Effect with another card and in my greed deck. I can't remember the name of the card but it was a continuous trap card with the effect that whenever the opponent draw additional cards during their draw phase you also draw the same number of cards. If my opponent draw 3 cards not only do I gain 6000 life points I also get plus 3 cards. If I pulled this off while having greed on the field the opponent will take 1500 point of damage and I will get get plus 4500 life points.
Two of my favorite cards of this kind are Bitelon and Dark Witch, both of which became useful in Monarchs. Bitelon was a 2400/1000 6 star that had the distinct advantage of being Reptile. This meant that you could search it through King of the Feral Imps, which was very easy to go into at the time thanks to Zoodiacs. Then there's Dark Witch, which actually appeared in the Tzolkin Monarch deck that won UK Nats. It was a target for Brilliant fusion that could be added back to your hand thanks to Lazuli, giving you an easy way to get to a level 8 monarch, or letting you use it as discard fodder for Quickdraw to make Tzolkin. It was also Fairy, which meant you could play through Rivalry of Warlords and get out Erebus or summon prime to make a fairy rank 5.
For my old Exodia deck, I used to have Bistro Butcher X3 and 3 Appropriate trapcards, so whenever my opponent drew a card (or cards) I also got to draw 2. It was a pretty good card without bistro butcher too because back in the day everyone ran Graceful Charity and Pot of greed and a few other draw effect cards like Masked Sorcerer and stuff.
Side effects would also work well with Neo-Parshath who gains ATK/DEF equal to the amount of LP you have more than your opponent. You could have him attack, use Side effects and have him gain at least 2000 ATK. He also does penetration damage, making this even more usable.
that trap can benefit whole aroma deck alone xD plus what he didnt mentioned that dried winds actually have second effect to destroy all monsters by sacrificing diffrence in LP xD (as long as combined opponent monsters atk is equal/less than that LP you paid ) xD
I love the trickstar combo with gift card, reincarnation, and lycoris. I run one copy of disturbance strategy as well and if i get that god hand of the 4 cards plus the field spell, i might be pissing off whoever I'm dueling
Wow such great content I’m glad I found you great yugituber I love how ur disscusion also make relevant point to our meta or past meta keep up the dope work
In regard to number 9: Side Effects?, I just wanna add that the card Appropriate is a thing. Every time your opponent draws (while not in the draw phase) you can draw cards as well. Use these in tandem would make for a decent combo
11:30 I heard the words bamboo engine and my brain went "and then after you play the chill panda and set him into munch mode you can start to set up the bamboo tasting phase"
I used side effect (and graceful tear that appeared in the intro) in a troll-ish Neo-Parshath deck because if your LP is higher than your opponent's it gains attack equal the difference, so using those you could create an OTK opportunity XD
i personally like to use gift card with endless decay. a level 5 zombie effect monster that gains half of your opponent's life points as its attack . its makes a pretty good beatstick
after seeing number 10, now I kind of wish to see someone make a deck based on giving your opponents useless shit and either clog up their field with monsters they can't tribute or use as materials, or give them monsters and/or spells that create negative effects. Bonus points if you can make it a semi-functioning deck.
Gift Card is an amazing card for Trapzodia decks, when they were possible. It allowed you to use Hope for Escape. It was about givin your opponent Life Points, while losing them yourself, then spammin Trap draw cards to win in one or two turns once the combo was set up.
@@tatermaniac9319 either that or you use a properly sided dice and assign numbers to each cards, counting rerolls of the dice if the number of cards are uneven
Shien's spy. On surface level you just give control of one of your own monsters. On deeper levels, you could make space for quasar spam, give control of Abyss actor - comic relief and trigger it to pop your abyss scripts, which have some broken effects like drawing until you have 5 cards in hand or summon as many abyss actors monsters you want/can from your deck.
I don’t play much, certainly not competitively, but I do love running burn decks that make use of Bad Reaction to Simochi combined with cards like Gift Card. Being able to deal 3000 points of direct damage with just two cards, one of which is continuous, is nothing to scoff at, even if they’re both Trap Cards! I also like to use it with a combination of Fire Princess, Spell Absorption, Dark Eradicator Warlock, and Rain of Mercy. For those who don’t know, Fire Princess is an Effect Monster that deals 500 points of damage every time her controller’s life points increase, Spell Absorption is a Continuous Spell Card that increases its controller’s Life Points by 500 every time a Normal Spell is activated, Dark Eradicator Warlock is and Effect Monster that deals 1000 damage each time a Normal Spell is activated, and Rain of Mercy is a Normal Spell Card that increases each players’ Life Points by 1000. Rain of Mercy triggers Bad Reaction to Simochi, Spell Absorption, Dark Eradicator Warlock, and Fire Princess, and Spell Absorption triggers Fire Princess again. This combination deals 1000 + 500 + 1000 + 500 = 3000 points of damage as well, and it also increases the user’s Life Points by 1500. I also like to throw in Dark Room of Nightmare, which increases all Effect Damage by 200 (I think), so that’s 1200 + 700 + 1200 + 700 = 3800 damage, nearly half the starting Life Points. If I’m lucky enough to set it up, I might also throw in this other monster that deals 500 (I think) damage to an opponent when a Normal Spell is activated, which would mean either 3500 or 4500 damage in one combo! And I also use cards like Upstart Goblin to deal even more damage. Sure, setting up the combo can take a while and isn’t always easy, but when I can set it up, it works amazingly!
8:36 It's banned because it is too good. It can force a draw every game you play. Cards that end matches are almost always exceptionally bad or banned. This card would be very consistent to pull off. It might not cause a win state but it doesn't cause a lose state either. It just draws the game out and you have to replay matches, causing another draw, and another draw, and so on. That's broken.
I feel like when Cold Wave came out in the early sets I can't remember what one but I know the secret to the pack was Jinzo or Magic Cylinder... anyways no one ever used it because they probably just disregarded it as a stupid common card that no one would use. Years later when I was looking up a ban list for curiosity, I saw cold wave was on the ban list and I laughed...then I understood why that card was so good. I wish I busted it out back when it was new hahaha.
All I could think of with Present Card was a funny scenario in Master Duel where you have Masked HERO Dark Law out and your opponent plays Maxx "C", so you make them draw as many cards as you can with special summon combos and then make them throw their whole hand into the graveyard with Present Card. Makes me smile thinking about it lol.
man u have such good knowledge of cards. i would love to see you do some xtr videos in duel links. the faster format and 20 card deck might make some combos uniquely possible there. anyways. thanks for these videos!
"Side effects" is very usefull in deck destruction decks not only because you make your opponent draw 1-3 cards, but also you can survive more attacks, in case you dont have that good of a defense since you get 2000+ Lp
Gift Card I can see in combination with effects that change life gain to direct damage being a massive nuke... Broken Bamboo Sword, good material for monsters that's effect requires you to tribute an equip card? Red-Eyes Slash Dragon comes to mind as an example from my limited Yugioh experience through Duel Links.. Send an equip to negate any effect targeting 1 of your cards, and destroy the card using said effect.
But also, Present Card, with an all time favorite: Skull Invitation. If you're deck revolves around making non-battle damage Dark Room of Nightmares and Skull Invitation, sure is a way to reduce your opponent's LP easily. The downside, is that Skull Invitation's effect also applies to you.
1:56 Couldn't you also use Mystical Refpanel to have it where you get to draw cards instead and also to have Bad Reaction to Simochi where instead of them Gaining say 6000 life points given how many cards you draw it would then deal between 2000 and 6000 points of burn damage instead? If this wouldn't work the way I'm thinking, please let me know if it could or wouldn't work
2:40 First you side effects so their hand becomes 8, then you trickstar reincarnation to banish 8 then they draw 8 then you present card so they discard 8 but only draw 5. And if you Droll somewhere in there...
Probably the only decent deck I ever ran was a bad reaction to simochi deck. Upstart goblin is straight up broken in the deck, gift card, and dark cure combo so well with Simochi. Only really needed Reficule to make it an actually good deck. Might need to dust it off to see what I put in it as I haven't played in a while.
Gift Card could be also really good in Hope for Escape Exodia decks, at the very worst leaves you at +0 drawing to cards, but at the very best (that you can pull off without either you or your opponent touching your LP) you use 3 Gift Cards to get your opponent to +9000, then 2 Hope for Escapes, the first giving you 5 cards (leaving you at +1) and the second giving you 5 more cards (leaving you at +5), granted is really hard to pull off this, but every in-between is still good/decent.
#10 No, it clearly says you banish the cards, not discard them. #9 Gaining LP is also extremely good for non deck out purposes thanks to cards like The Agent of Force - Mars. #4 It's also good when used in combination with Megamorph. #3 It can also be devastating against traditional Exodia decks. Just make sure your opponent has at least one piece in their hand before using it.
This might seem crazy but cheerful coffin is a good bad card in duel links. It could be used with dark world cards since it doesn't require your opponent to discard them any more. But hey might just be me.
There was an exodia, endless decay self destruct button deck i played way back in the day. It ran gift cards, hope for escape and final destiny with scarecrows, battle faders and a normalish draw engine. Either you hit exodia and win. You get below 2k hp, draw a ton and final destiny into double endless decay otk from any hp amount. Or you self destruct button to tie. I played this for about two months before button was banned and it was evil

Edit: I would always run self destruct button in my reversal quiz decks as plan B as it would fit and it’s good to take matches that you have a lead on.
I remember WAYYYY back in the day having a Bistro Butcher / draw burn setup with Gravekeepers Servant, Magical White Hat, Greed, and Magical Thorns.
"Libary"
I'm sorry. I feel horrible inside. I've probably pronounced it wrongly myself once in my life. I hope me pointing that out didn't hurt you. You do good work and I look forward too seeing more of what you usually put out.
This is gonna make him red, like a strawbrary.
Oioiiō
Lieberry Sounds yummi.
9:38
Two more ways to use Present Card:
1: combine with Lightning Warrior, as it burns for 300 damage for every card in the opponent's hand every time it destroys a monster.
The combination of your voice and the background music is simply amacing
@TheDuelLogs
Gift Card was also used in a Top 8 Exodia deck that used Hope For Escape as its main draw engine
Bamboo swords can also remove every part of turn your opponent has (except battle phase) which is fun
i love how you give really niche combos a shout out but prove even if its not reliable it's still got use somehow
You can also combo #9, #8, #7, and #3 with Greed, but I doubt that card ever saw play outside of locals where people were trying to screw around.
For Self-Destruct Button when you activate it you can chain it with Soul Relay to activate its effect to win.
For side effect, i would personally use Null and Void. Its such a sting to your opponent to draw all of those cards just to discard them all.
You can combo "side effects?" With I believe number 42. Manipulator of souls deals damage to your opponent when you gain lp
that trap can benefit whole aroma deck alone xD plus what he didnt mentioned that dried winds actually have second effect to destroy all monsters by sacrificing diffrence in LP xD (as long as combined opponent monsters atk is equal/less than that LP you paid ) xD
@@andriusbikus7967 time to make a number 42/aroma/side effects? Deck
@@erikwoodruff5643 the bad thing that aromas doesn't rly have good way to protect it's backrow
I love the trickstar combo with gift card, reincarnation, and lycoris. I run one copy of disturbance strategy as well and if i get that god hand of the 4 cards plus the field spell, i might be pissing off whoever I'm dueling
Wow such great content I’m glad I found you great yugituber I love how ur disscusion also make relevant point to our meta or past meta keep up the dope work
Your Reverse Reuse deck was one of my most favorite.
"Broken bamboo sword" is translated from "Broken Bokken" which sounds a hundred times better
Shock Trooper of the Ice Barrier. It was played in Shaddoll to out the Djinn Lock of Nekroz while serving as material for El Shaddoll Anoyatyllis.
Lawl at that YGOpro stock Exodia deck that uses Broken+Golden Bamboo Sword.
This is really cool! I really learned a lot in this video.
Glad to see the Exodia Library mentioned :)
I actually had someone in my duelling friends group that used that exact Simochi, Gift Card combo.
Gift Card is an amazing card for Trapzodia decks, when they were possible. It allowed you to use Hope for Escape. It was about givin your opponent Life Points, while losing them yourself, then spammin Trap draw cards to win in one or two turns once the combo was set up.
For Side Effects Too, It also helps out when you have Silent Magician Lv 4
How do you randomly discard? Wouldnt you just "randomly" discard cards you dont need or cards with grave effects??
Didn't you know? Konami pays a guy to go around the world and blindfold players and shuffle their hands around anytime an effect like that is played
James Miranda I just shuffle my hand and get rid of one without looking at them
@@tatermaniac9319 either that or you use a properly sided dice and assign numbers to each cards, counting rerolls of the dice if the number of cards are uneven
Top 10 most hardest too pronounce card names :D (I spend 5 minutes trying to say Mikazukinoyaiba O_O)
Most of the Earthbound Immortals.
With the card Gift Card, it's a good card when combined with Bad Reaction to Simochi. I have a deck in YGoPro with that combination.
Holy shit. Bistro Butcher. What an oldie. Thanks for throwing me back to being a kid again ❤️
I like your new videos ... currently one of my fav yugituber ..... keep up pal
Another use for Gift Card is in Exodia or other stall decks you can synergize it with Hope for Escape to draw extra cards.
Yay i love seeing you talk about duel links too
man u have such good knowledge of cards. i would love to see you do some xtr videos in duel links. the faster format and 20 card deck might make some combos uniquely possible there.
anyways. thanks for these videos!
Why is Foolish Burial not on the list? I mean, it's the quintessential "bad on the surface" card.
The downside, is that Skull Invitation's effect also applies to you.
always hyped for your videos
1:56 Couldn't you also use Mystical Refpanel to have it where you get to draw cards instead and also to have Bad Reaction to Simochi where instead of them Gaining say 6000 life points given how many cards you draw it would then deal between 2000 and 6000 points of burn damage instead?
If this wouldn't work the way I'm thinking, please let me know if it could or wouldn't work
I used a nurse deck and a couple other reflect and life gain effects to OTK regularly. Back in the day:)
The tag force early games had a burning deck using the "gift card"
There was an exodia, endless decay self destruct button deck i played way back in the day. It ran gift cards, hope for escape and final destiny with scarecrows, battle faders and a normalish draw engine. Either you hit exodia and win. You get below 2k hp, draw a ton and final destiny into double endless decay otk from any hp amount. Or you self destruct button to tie. I played this for about two months before button was banned and it was evil
