Oh yes. Somehow I like my «old» 3DS design better than the «new» 3DS XL, but of course as soon as I bought the «new» one it all didn't matter anymore. The screens are great, especially if you get an IPS model. It can play DS, GBA, and SNES games in their original resolutions, albeit on the edge of comfort. The 3D is great on it, while I was surprised just how unstable and discomforting this main feature is on the OG. And don't forget it can enhance «old» 3DS games via CFW. All around a must-have for 3DS fans.
I definitely agree for the Switch, 3ds, ds, and 3ds xl. I have those systems and I just love them. Even though I very rarely play with my 3ds or 3ds xl. My Switch is the reason for why I don’t play with them anymore.
Really want to see your game collection. My favorite handheld is the DS Lite. DS and GBA is the sweetspot for me. Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, the best Pokémon games ever. The DS Zeldas are a mixed bag, but Minish Cap is great and the Link To The Past remake is not half bad.
I really love the short content man! It's nice to have not incredibly in depth information for people who don't care about that stuff. It's refreshingly and pleasing to have the brief rundowns on each individual hand held.
Really cool tier list. I think my tier list would look pretty much the same. I still don't have a GBA SP, but I really want to get one soon. Anyway, really nice and detailed video. I really enjoyed it. Also those mistakes in the script were rather funny.
I personally thought the Vita was a bit better than the Switch for a while, but recently I played Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana on the Switch and it has been my favorite game/game experience that I have ever completed. Now I think the switch is my fav.
Isn’t the “universal” part of UMD meant to mean universal in regards to media type? They never released music for the format unfortunately, but I could make an argument for it being a disc that can be used for all types of media.
They did release music for it in the form of concert recordings. Sure, in the end they are videos, but they are labeled as 'UMD MUSIC' and are clearly marketed as that part of the UMD catalogue with the musical note icon and all :)
Me: *Carries my Wii U console, Gamepad, and AC adapters* *Knocks on your door* YSN: *Opens the door* Me: *Walks in* *Plugs in my Wii U* “Is this a handheld???”
I just think that the PSP should be on the S rank. Even though it has some problems (mostly the analog, for me), I think that back when it was new, it was the pinnacle of the portable gaming, on different fields. The games are good and for what's was possible at the time it got wonderful graphics and a fairly good libraby. But the giant part that the homebrew scene played is what differentiates it from the other consoles. The possibilities seen so infinite (even though we are pretty aware of the console limitations today) and gave the console the super extra life it has.
The PSP higher than the Vita? Really? The PSP still makes me sad to this day. AMAZING game library, just horrible hardware in practice. The UMD was annoying and drained the battery, it had only 1 analogue a stick (which took the skin off my thumb), and all of the low res screens sucked (ghosting, aliasing). Fast forward to the Vita and again, it saddens me for the opposite reason. Sony knocked it out of the park with the OLED screen, buttons and sticks, and by turning to cartridges (storage remained expensive though). Then they turned their back on it and the catalogue ended up so much smaller than it should. What games did release, and with some PSP (and PS1) backwards compatibility, it’s always a joy to pick up. It’s still loved by many and for good reason.
Of these choices? A: GBASP, PSP B: DSlite, 3DS C: PSvita, GBC D: Switch, GBP E: DSi, G&W DSi and Switch as low as they are because of controller malfunctions within a year of owning it.
I'll never understand the love affair Gamers have with a switch. In my opinion, it has a less-than-stellar gaming Library. The only game worth playing would be Pokemon. To be fair that goes for most Nintendo consoles. Thankfully the Nintendo switch emulator plays the Pokemon games at near full speed. I just started playing Pokemon let's go Pikachu and just beat Lieutenant surge. I plan on beating the game this way. I choose to never support Nintendo monetarily because of how anti-consumer they are.
I think the Switch deserves a little more credit than is given. Sure if you only buy it for Nintendo titles, it’s mediocre at best, but if the Switch is your only home console and you don’t have a PS4 or Xbox, there would be more titles you considered getting for it. Know what I’m saying?
I own a PS4 and Switch, and find myself playing Switch way more often. It lowkey has AMAZING exclusives that non-Nintendo fans are sleeping on. Mario Odyssey and Zelda Breath of the Wild are EASILY in the conversation for best game this generation across all platforms. Pokemon is not even in my top 10. I put Fire Emblem Three Houses, Xenoblade Chronices DE, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Astral Chain (from Platinum and super underrated), Octopath Traveler (Square Enix killed this one), Mario Kart, and Splatoon 2 at a tier above it. Splatoon 2 actually really blew me away as an XCOM fan. It's really well done. And then there's like at least a dozen GOTY candidates and winners (Okami, Doom 2016, Skyrim, Witcher, Bioshock, Borderlands collection, etc) from past cycles ported over which is awesome cuz most people have not played all of them, and now you have them on the go which is super appealing.
My favorite handheld out of the Gameboy lineup was the Advanced (not SP). I just like how wide it is. And mine thankfully came with a clam shell thing that had a light on it so the backlit wasn’t an issue for me. I do understand it though.
I really love both the PS Vita 1000 and 2000, which can be absolutely incredible with some software mods. It's underrated how well sized and pocketable they are. And remote play is an excellent feature that's added to their utility. But it is fair to compare them as Sony delivered them; and the proprietary memory cards are garbage. The SD2Vita and PSVSD mods are a godsend in that regard!
If you take homebrew into consideration, the most powerfull model is always the best. Now, the basic model, one could argue that the vita is better than anything else because of its multimedia capability
The only choice I'd disagree with here is the Switch. I'd probably put it in B tier. The reason being its size. Its the only one that won't fit in my pocket.
I guess that's really dependent on usage. I like the size since I don't bring my Switch out of the house. But for people who do, it's really quite big.
I love my handhelds, i alway take one whenever i go outside, right now ive been on my 3ds, but when i beat the game I'm on, ill switch back to my vita or switch and so on.
What a fantastic list. The game boy, ds, 3ds, and psp sounds about right. Also yeah the 3ds is pretty tiresome so yeah I really should get the XL of it
For me? 1. Switch(easily best Nintendo console), 2. 3ds(good, though not great library, I'd put it just above gba on it's own. But it's up here due to added backwards compatibly with ds and vc),3. psp(on it's own this is my number 2 as it has a way better library than ds or 3ds, but not combined), 4. DS(best Nintendo game library until the switch+gba compatible), 5. Gba(it was like a greatest hits of the 16 bit era, plus some great original games to) ,6. Vita(I wanted to like it, but was disappointed. The Price gouging and with pretty much all Vita games available on every other platform. It was pointless to me) 7. Gbc (good library for the time, but most games are hard for me to go back to)
best handheld ever is the ds so many good games and can play gba games too i never liked the gba sp the gba was much better even with the bad screen i liked the form factor way better
Sega Game Gear gets a D due to the blurred screen and the fact that it's a battery hog (5-6 hours of play time). The sound capacitors would also go out in this console over time and definitely needs to be replaced. The controls can be hard to push on it. It's like holding a brick, even the monochromatic brick can fit in your pocket and it's not as bulky. Nowadays, I'd rather mod it for connectivity to the TV. Atari Lynx gets an F for it's bulky and awkward design. It may be the first portable to have color, and the games may be decent. But trying to play games whether upside down or right side up can definitely be confusing. Sega Genesis Nomad gets an F. While I can definitely appreciate the aesthetic of playing Genesis games on the go, the battery life is HORRENDOUS (2 Hours of play time). It is MUCH WORSE than the battery life of the Game Gear. The screen quality is slightly better than the Game Gear, but the console itself is extremely bulky for a portable to begin with. And getting the battery pack for it to charge it is a HUGE PAIN, and it'll look MUCH MORE BULKY than the console itself. TurboExpress gets a C. Not bad, but not the greatest out there. But I love it when it's a convenient way to play your HuCard/TurboChip games on the go. Neo Geo Pocket/NGPC gets a B. I like that it has a built-in clock in the console. Neo Geo X gets a D for build quality and emulation problems. The WORST that could happen is sometimes when you play a game on it, the console itself would freeze, and that's mainly IF you're playing it on the go. There is a firmware update to fix it. Tiger Game.Com gets a D. I like that the console was the first to have a touchscreen on it. It also has a phone jack, and the only way to access the internet is text only, especially if you're checking your email. You'd be better off using a computer instead.
Because a modded switch will just be better later down the line because of the power it has, i much prefer talking without the homebrew that change everything for all platforms. Now, the vita basic was pretty good for being multimedia.
Everything can be modded, all consoles had emulator and homebrew scenes, that wasn't special to the Vita. And if that's what matters than a phone is the best handheld
I think the three best are the GBA SP 101, New Nintendo 3DS XL and the PSP 3000. The GBA SP is great because it can play basically every Game Boy, Colour and Advance game with a bunch of rereleases of varying quality. The huge selection of overall great games like the Zeldas, Metroids, Mother, Final Fantasy, Pokemon etc. is amazing. I would put the DS Lite because it can play DS games in a better resolution than the 3DS’ and can also play GBA games, however I feel like the best way to play strictly DS games is on the DSi XL, which isn’t backwards compatible. The thing is on the 3DS you get the amazing first party line-up from the 3DS and the third parties from the DS, plus the eShop, Virtual Console and a bunch of stellar second party games all with pretty great controls, comfort and screen. The PSP 3000 is probably not as good as these two, however I still greatly prefer it to the Vita. While the Vita is pretty good, especially digitally, it doesn’t have many good exclusives and since it tried to make graphics more important than say Nintendo handhelds, it feels very outdated already. And obviously the sd cards were ridiculous. The PSP however has a pretty good selection physically which is more appealing to someone like me. Final Fantasy, Disgaea, Persona, God of War, Monster Hunter, a physical version of Symphony of the Night that doesn’t cost five arms and a leg to buy? And it’s hardware is pretty great as well. Edit: Also I’m not really counting Switch because it’s sort of its own thing.
"I'm going to give this one the D" hahaha
Lol even better made by the fact its the pocket... hilarious
My favorite handhelds are the Vita, 3DS and Switch
Same
So the three most recent ones? Lol
Im not really a fan of Sony or Xbox.
Ds>3ds
Cool. My favorite are 3ds xl,gba sp and switch lite.
Ill be honest, i loved handhelds more then i loved home consoles before the switch came out. now i cant really imagine myself playing without handheld OR tv mode xD
I love my PSP Go, it really feels like the most underrated console revision out there imo
It was before it's time.
people dont like umd
I definitely agree for the Switch, 3ds, ds, and 3ds xl. I have those systems and I just love them. Even though I very rarely play with my 3ds or 3ds xl. My Switch is the reason for why I don’t play with them anymore.

Any love for the Neo Geo Pocket Color? That's one of the best handhelds of the 90s, better than the GameGear or Lynx anyway
Really cool tier list. I think my tier list would look pretty much the same. I still don't have a GBA SP, but I really want to get one soon.
Anyway, really nice and detailed video. I really enjoyed it. Also those mistakes in the script were rather funny.
I own both a GBA SP and a 3DS XL so I'm pretty set when it comes to Nintendo handhelds, oh and Switch as well
9:07 yooo wtf is the guy playing 😂😂
I personally thought the Vita was a bit better than the Switch for a while, but recently I played Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana on the Switch and it has been my favorite game/game experience that I have ever completed. Now I think the switch is my fav.
Ys 8 really is something special that's for sure.
Isn’t the “universal” part of UMD meant to mean universal in regards to media type? They never released music for the format unfortunately, but I could make an argument for it being a disc that can be used for all types of media.

Extra points for Valkyria Chronicles cameo.
My favorite handheld is switch, 3ds, psp.
I have a homebrewed 3ds with a 3d printed grip
Me: *Carries my Wii U console, Gamepad, and AC adapters* *Knocks on your door*
YSN: *Opens the door*
Me: *Walks in* *Plugs in my Wii U* “Is this a handheld???”
Intro sounded like mario falling down a well
Are you going to play Xenoblade DE? I think you'd really enjoy it
My favorite handhelds are the Vita and Nintendo 3DS

The possibilities seen so infinite (even though we are pretty aware of the console limitations today) and gave the console the super extra life it has.
And let's not forget the PS1 emulation
The fact that these things still work today is a commendable feat in itself
I was waiting for you to say "Just kidding" when you put Game & Watch in A
Even without it's historical significance, it stays an A. I love playing that thing.
I was also waiting for you to say "Just kidding" when you put the Vita in C
The Vita just wasn't that useful to me
The PSP higher than the Vita? Really? The PSP still makes me sad to this day. AMAZING game library, just horrible hardware in practice. That memory card issue, very little sports games lack of diversity in gam s expensive
PSP is better than the Vita.
Of these choices?
A: GBASP, PSP
B: DSlite, 3DS
C: PSvita, GBC
D: Switch, GBP
E: DSi, G&W
DSi and Switch as low as they are because of controller malfunctions within a year of owning it.
Agreed on your A tier.
I've had my regular Switch on Day 1. I never had any problems with it.
@@KTJohnsonkidThunder even if you have no problem, its way too easy to have dust in it that makes it drift.
dsi controllers malifunctions? my 13 year old dsi still is working fine
I absolutely love the DSi XL, 3DS XL, vita and PSP but my favorite handheld is a good android phone with a good telescopic controller.
I love Gameboy, Gameboy advance and Nintendo DS

You don't have the PSP GO but that was and is still a great portable games machine, killed by the iPhone I guess!
PS Vita is the best. Agreed, Sony messed up, but the system itself was full of potential. It still is, really.
I really love both the PS Vita 1000 and 2000, which can be absolutely incredible with some software mods. It's underrated how well sized and pocketable they are. I love my handhelds, i alway take one whenever i go outside, right now ive been on my 3ds, but when i beat the game I'm on, ill switch back to my vita or switch and so on.

I have a modded Psp 1000, modded new 3dsxl, and Switch. Psp gets an A, 3ds xl an A, and Switch an S
I love my Switch, but my sister broke my AC Adapter and now my broke ass can't afford a new AC Adapter :/

best handheld ever is the ds so many good games and can play gba games too
i never liked the gba sp the gba was much better even with the bad screen i liked the form factor way better
Wii U Gamepad is the best Handheld
Switch is half and half. It should count.
Name of the two games that you played on Vita at 5:05 ?

In the end of the title add Ranked.
no og gba?

How u don't have 2ds xl
Because I never bought one
Duuude. With a modded Vita you can play PSX, PSP, and Retroarch and use a cheap SD card instead of the original memory card. How that can be a C?
Because a modded switch will just be better later down the line because of the power it has, i much prefer talking without the homebrew that change everything for all platforms. Now, the vita basic was pretty good for being multimedia.
Vita is crap dude.
Everything can be modded, all consoles had emulator and homebrew scenes, that wasn't special to the Vita. And if that's what matters than a phone is the best handheld
where is the switch lite booo!
Vita means L I F E!
I would rather give the switch a C and the DS an S

I have 3 DS Phat want one? 😅
One thing for sure the Vita was the worst handheld.
Y really love muy 3ds is muy fistr consol
Vita for me easily
Im gonna be honest the switch isn't nearly as good as the 3ds or the ps vita.
basically first bruh
"basically" he says haha
