    I’ve been into watches for nearly 30 years, never thought that there would be a market for fake Seikos & Casios. Yet, here we are. 🤦🏻‍♂️

      There's multiple sellers, rather than call out names its wiser to educate people on what to look out for. A small number are genuine people who don't have a clue they are selling a fake but most do.
      Thank you for the comment 👍🏼

      This is my problem. Seiko padi special edition. Time when still works so well but code is 8 digits long on front 4r3605G4 but on rear is last 2 digits arent G4 like face but H0 so mismatched items? Maybe a 100 meter 4r36 thats sold in new 5 models?

    I'm afraid that the white presage premier SSA369 is also counterfeit.
    You may check closely and compare the seiko font on the back see through case with internet photo or review video.

  • @gregvassilakos
    @gregvassilakos 11 месяцев назад

    One thing I don't understand is why the Chinese counterfeiters don't establish their own watch brands. They are clearly able to produce very attractive watches at low prices. All they would need to do is change the logo from Seiko to something like Great Wall or Golden Dragon, change the strap and the color of the dial to avoid patent or copyright infringement, impose some basic quality controls, and produce a few ads attesting to the quality of the watches. Another thing I don't understand is why they waste their time counterfeiting Seiko when they could be counterfeiting Omega or Rolex. It can't be much more expensive to produce a fake Rolex than it is to produce a fake Seiko.

      @TheWatcherReviews  4 года назад +3

      Hi Jen,
      I haven't come across a fake skx but I would look out for similar traits amongst them, especially when it comes to the finer details and printing on the watch.
      There are a few 'homage ' skx which are available by Chinese brands like heimdallr and steeldive but they have their own branding

  • @bafa000

    Oh no!! you have given them ways to make even better fakes!! lol. They would not have thought about any of that by themselves ... They are willing but not able to come up with their own ideas.... crap. I want to buy the SPB155 but now I am a little wary. I may pay more (its easily an $800-$1000 watch nowadays),. . .

  • @bafa000
    @bafa000 6 месяцев назад

    They buy the movements wholesale, they are cheaper like that of course... This mitigates uncertainty because if someone is about to buy a fake and they see that the movement is legit, they will ask themselves that same question you just asked yourself (Why would they put this movement in a fake watch) and move on with the transaction.

    Fake Turtles mostly carry the same serial number: 630 711.
    Fake Seiko divers never have a proper alignment of the “Seiko” branding vs the “wave”. The lettering should be nicely positioned above the wave, not at the side or bottom like the fakes.

    What if you get one with same 6 digits 4r36 05G4 on back says 4r36 05H0 im unsure but it is like real one but the last 2 digits on the model/ caseback model being just only thing? All same but the G4 H0 special edition turtle but not a nh36 movt. Real 4t36 movt? Puzzled but wanted refund as it is not much different to genuine? 4r36 05G4 back says 4r3605H0. Cant work it out.

      @@TheWatcherReviews but the serial number isn't matching. Although only 2 digits its not got a card that would not have the both codes? Unless 6 digit. Which im not sure about. Payed too much forvmis matched item. Going for refund as nice as it is. The last 2 digits when I see on a card is fully written and this having G4 on face but H0 on case back is strange and without reply on site. Better adding extra. Waiting made in Japan one for similar or few £ more I think.

      @@TheWatcherReviews its codes that end in G4 on face and H0 on caseback last 2 digits that I expected to match completely to face. 6 of 8 digits are OK. Me hanism 4r36 just 2 codes if even little wrong to me is wrong. Paid too much to have different casenack to front Unless usuall? But sell them matching cards and code written on it so thats problem if i needed to sells? so really confusing to me? Thanks for help. Just why would 6 digits match the final 2 be different. Throws too much doubt on it when bought e bay. Also looking back avoided. Tbh. Cheers for advice 6 digits same 4r36 05. Then face is G4 rear H0?

      @@TheWatcherReviews number on face and caseback. Starts well 6 digit match then final 2 digits , face G4 reaer cover H0 aren't same so this is confusing. If had a and with it wouldn't it be one not both as if G4 was on rear aswell as the front itd be non issue. But with the codes being just those 2 digits off I think k case has been swapped? E bay at its worse. Buy then zero reply if asking a man who sells watches! Codes being exact would make sense as if card for authentication it wouldn't have front code 4r36 05G4 rear 4r36 05 H0. So seems real but a bit frankenteined?

    The Alpinist you got are a fake though, the real one has Seiko written in brushed Golden letters, not like yours where its polished and has more round edges. The crownguards on yours are also off. I Bet you bought this as a refurbished sarb017 on eBay right?

    • @TheWatcherReviews
      @TheWatcherReviews  4 года назад +2

      Hi, appreciate the info. But the alpinist is not a fake. The fake alpinist have more tell tale signs. I didnt buy this as a refurbed model either, which by the way I am fully aware of those ones. Who knows, maybe you're right 🤔
      Il open the back and let's see what I find...
      I will open the back just to be certain.

    • @TheWatcherReviews
      @TheWatcherReviews  4 года назад +1

      @John Buckmaster hi John, great info.
      I looked into this I depth across many forums
      1. If the alpinist was fake then there would be a source where they are readily available
      2. In my experience the differences amongst the alpinist are so small that they point to factory variations (which exist) rather than a fake. The fakes are alot more blaintant
      3. Same as above, all evidence points to factory variants rather than a "fake'

    • @tacohans2262
      @tacohans2262 4 года назад

      Lol it IS fake, John you must be the seller from eBay Selling those fake refurbished ones. The dial and caseback should never look like that on an Alpinist. Stop spreading lies

    • @TheWatcherReviews
      @TheWatcherReviews  4 года назад +3

      @@tacohans2262 Taco, this topic has alot of information on it. There is no 100% proof that fake alpinists exist. There is no source for them. The differences are very minute and point towards factory variants. If you want to prove your point then bring solid proof, I.e a link from where you can buy these 'fake alpinists'.
      Don't try and enforce an opinion unless you can bring actual proof.
      With the actual fakes of Seikos the differences are quite huge and noticeable, whereas the alpinist has very small and albeit subjective variances.
      If you bring something solid, I will be the first one to agree with you 👍🏼

    • @tacohans2262
      @tacohans2262 4 года назад +2

      The Watcher well I have owned several of the sarb017 over the years, bought and sold just to repurchase again and never have I experienced dial differences in a 6 years period. Strange that they would suddently begin to have variances on the dial. But you know what you just go ahead and believe that its authentic if that makes you sleep at night😉
