Do you think applying leather care creme to older jordans will help slowing down the paint chipping and the distress in the leather (because real leather tends to absorb water and it gets trapped in there and overtime thats what make leather tear)? I know forsure it wont work with the newer retros because theyre all made out of synthetic materials and i dont see why nike still calls them leather shoes.
I have not had any experience working with leather care cremes but you have a good idea. Water does get absorbed by leather. Retros happen to put this synthetic coat on the newer sneakers but it is still leather. A different type of grain though. If you ever apply leather care creme, do let me know. I'm curious.

TY1 collars break down and degrade over time while these (TH) would not which is why you may think they look restored or painted. If you monitor particular OG Air Jordan 1s, pay attention to the factory codes on the lining. It’ll determine which pairs are the better quality.

My step dad played ball for sacramento state . He wanted me to play in late 84 signed up in 85 and he bought me the original jordans and I hated them so much I quit basketball I had blisters all over my feet. I still have them tucked away in his garage I was 10/11 years old at the time

It's normal. There are a variety of factory abbreviations (which is what these are) that have made the shoes.
