@camerawalker The only thing that prevents me from buying this lens is that its front lens cap can be bought as extra. Sony doesn't sell the front cap as accessory neither third party manufacturers. I have checked it. Also the front element of the lens doesn't accept protective filters. So I will live with the fear of loosing the front lens cap. I hope Sony listens.
Hi, thanks for your review. I like your review style. Just the right pace. I've also left a comment about your 70-200 f4 re the rear gasket. As you can see I'm obsessed by them! I read elsewhere that this lens doesn't have a rear seal but your video clearly shows it does. I've been checking which FE lenses have as it's clearly important to me! Thanks
Is your Sony a7rii still working after all these years? as I read up some reviews and lots of people had trouble with their shutters as they would lock up on them so I did not bother to buy one and still using my old canon 6d
@@CWRhoads that’s great, I was really thinking of getting one as they do take sharp images but when I read up on them loads had trouble with their cameras around the 2 year mark after owning them but you must be one of the lucky ones as some people have had no issues with them... Take care Chris 👍🏼
Hi, Thanks for the nice review.I want to buy this lens and I have a question; do you still have this lens and if you still keeping it what do you think about this lens after 2 years of use. Thanks in advance.
You're welcome! I still have this lens. I love it! I use it a lot for travel and when I want a bit of flexibility with zoom and its handy for video too!
most of your lens review is based mainly on usage rather than the more technical approach such as measurements on distortions, chromatic aberration, vignetting etc... I think for thoroughness/completeness you should include those in your future lens review.
Hi, I would really like to see a review comparing this lens and Sony A7 and the iPhone pro with its ultra wide lens which is supposed to be 12mm and see how the pictures compare
I have it but haven't had the time to do a video yet. I do like it! Its just a bit heavy compared to the 12-24mm. Although, thats a given. The Sigma looks like a winner though I will say.

That's not true. It has a smaller sensor compared to a DSLR so definitely not the same quality but the advantage of the HX400 is that it has a longer zoom that the D3400 and the 1300D.

That timelapse really shows just how wide it is. Really nice review, John.
I love mine. I just walked around an old pueblo in Mexico with it.
Thanks
No problem
I love the bloopers at the end :D , great review, very useful, thanks !
Haha thank you!

Great review thanks. Would this work ok on an a72? The lack of OSS concerns me. Never used a wide angle before.
I still think I was a kind of mad for not waiting for this lens and grabbing the Zeiss 16-35 instead :D
Keep up the great work man. I used a few of your videos to help me ultimately decide on purchasing my Sony a7rii last year. Good stuff!

Nice review.
How is this lens compare to the Sony 10-18?
Hey Danny! I would rate this lens better than the 10-18mm but this is made for full frame whereas the 10-18mm is made for crop.
John, thank you
I went for the Sony 28mm lens and both 21 & 16mm adapters...
I believe you put the wrong - uk Amazon link it's showing the Samyang AF 35mm
Thanks for that! Corrected :)
John Sison welcome Jhon 🙂
Welcome to Thailand🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank you! :)
Have you always been this buff man? :D
How is sony hx400v I have heard that it gives 70% pic quality as DSLR like d3400 and 1300d is it true sir review video please one more please

Thanks for your feedback :)
officially this is the widest. unofficially 10-18 is wider because at ~11mm it covers full frame
Hi John nice video again, you're Link's to the US and Canada link to the wrong lens.
Keep up the good work.
Oh you're right! Thanks John. I corrected that :)
Since you've tested both the 12-24 Sigma and Sony. Which would you prefer when comparing iq?
I'd definitely prefer the Sony over the Sigma.
Really helpful thanks❤
You're welcome 😊
Will stitching a couple photos from a FE 28mm f2. Still be sharper than this lens?
Hmm to be honest, I'm not too sure since I haven't done that myself.
How is sony hx400v I have heard that it gives same pic quality as DSLR like d3400 and 1300d is it true

xD
This one or Batis 18 2.8 ? 😀

That would be a great idea but I unfortunately don't have the iPhone Pro.
Have you tested the Sigma 14-24 f 2.8 ? What do you mean is the netter Lens...Sony 12-24 f 4 or the Sigma?
I have it but haven't had the time to do a video yet. I do like it! Its just a bit heavy compared to the 12-24mm. Although, thats a given. The Sigma looks like a winner though I will say.

Thank you 👍... i‘ve bought the Sigma yesterday 🥰
@@alexandrah.4244 🔥🔥🔥You're going to love that lens! Just started taking it out the other day since you mentioned it haha
John Sison
Hihi 😂...That’s Fine 👍...wish you fun with the Lens and many great photos 😉👍
is there a lot of distortion with house photos?
There can be but it also depends on the angle in which you shoot. You can also alleviate the distortion in post.
Price in India 12-24
I knew it! The extra 4mm DOES make a difference!! Just try telling the wife 🙄
Just show her the video and hopefully that will convince her haha
Do not forget to drink water when travelling lol
i feel like 12-24mm is not a good lens for video
it looks a bit cheap and too gopro ish
Lucky Never I think is more to travel photography.

You're welcome! It does have a rear gasket but its not as "thick" as the other Sony lenses.
