Galina, Thank you for this tribute to Soloviev! Will we ever see another male dancer who has those magic feet, lines, musicality.. We have seen perfection in these short films.
Thank you for your comment. You are absolutely right. It was a fantastic dancer. I saw performances from his participation in my early years. Unforgettable!
Thank-you so much for posting, Galina. I had not seen the clip of Yuri dance Le Corsaire. Magnificent. And a great loss to both his family and ballet. May he Rest In Peace.
the first time saw micha was in 75 giselle with fracci in florence ,when micha did his solo in second act people thought they were dreaming and me too ,after saw in venice with kirkland in don q maurice bejart was casually sitting near me and never forget his face in front the umbelivle dancing of micha .after saw again many times ,and l am really happy of this ,a legendary dancer already ,and deserves.
Yes, it is sad when on watching it I feel that this suddenly is almost more film footage than we have ever seen of Soloviev. Batalov is his natural heir in greateness, and also practically undocumented.
did you see micha live sometime ?is not my favourite too not as volodia vasiliev or soloviev, but was a marvelous vaganova dancer and umbelivle virtuoso belive me.
I saw Misha in his heyday many times. He was always a little too reserved, a little cold. Beautiful jump and considerate partner. He really came alive in Sinatra Songs with Twyla Tharp's choreography and was wonderful in Prodigal Son. But Misha never pierced my heart the way that Nureyev could just standing in fifth position, and as for beautiful, elegant Kirov style, Aleksander Lunev in the 80's had the more impeccable technique and port de bras and impossibly soft plie when jumping, truly like a cat.
@@terpsichorean4366 wow sashenka is my good facebook friend ,now he is in boston sometime we chat on facebook,he really jumped like soloviev .if you are on facebook l can send you material about lunev .l saw him dancing in half 80's more times great dancer accademic and with umbelivle jump and ballon .l never was great fan of nureyev saw too many dreadful performances by him ,enrico italy
batalov imo is more similar to micha than soloviev and is the most underrated dancer of all times ,surely today also no longer in his prime is one of the stronger dancer in the world.
There is no such thing as outdated dancing. Times change and fashions shift but greatness is immortal and quality is always interesting regardless. Soloviev danced with soul, it is a matter beyond the fads of style.
My idol My top choice
Thank you for this priceless footage.

As Nureyev famously said often, in the West, 'Really? You think I'm good? You ought to see Soloviev.'
probabily the greatest dancer ever,so few filmed about him .a crime.
Can I ask what is the ballet on 02:10?
Totally agree.
As close to perfection as you will ever get . . .
Thank you, the MAVRO! You took the time and watched my video. It is very nice! Have a good mood, and of course success. G.

Old style means Classical. Not outdated.
