A moment of silence for any Breaking Bad fans that passed away in the years between the finale and El Camino....
my best friend did he didnt get to watch better call saul either and i watched breaking bad with him at my house hes the one who recomended it to me. it was reallly bittersweet to watch el camino but i knew he wouldve loved it. RIP robert foster too the vacuum guy
Agreed
Or better call Saul
Sadly my dad loved breaking bad, as he could relate to the cancer story, yet he passed away before watching the 4th season.
I come here to feel glad... not sad.
Favorite fact about the behind the scenes during filming of this movie. Supposedly tons of Albuquerque citizens saw them filming this movie on the streets. Not one person leaked any of the scenes or what they saw. True Albuquerque homies.
Can't wait to see Brandon continue his journey into Better Call Saul
That’s very admirable of the Albuquerque residents.
It’s still crazy to me that Jesse originally was going to die in season 1. His story is just as important to the show as Walters so to think we almost had 4 out of 5 season without him is mind blowing
Please elaborate, how was he going to die? :O
@@WolfloreSchrodinger Tuco was going to kill Jesse in season one. It was meant to run 10 episodes but the writers strike cut the season short. That and Aaron Paul's performance gave them time to reconsider more options with writing Jesse's character.
@@dunringill1747 is there any information on HOW Tuco was going to off Jesse?
@@WolfloreSchrodinger I don't believe the writers made anything official, but the rumor was Jesse was going to be the guy Tuco beat to death (instead of his henchman).
That dosn't surprise me at all, they say stuff like that with almost every show. Same was with LOST and Jack, the main character.
The trailer for this also shows a scene not included in the movie of Skinny Pete being interrogated and not giving Jesse away.
and Jesse in the desert with his haircut and the El Camino listening to the radio about the search for him. it was the first glimpse at his scars
There is also a "snowglobe" clip of Todd making the snowglobe with him and Lydia.
I think that’s more of a “hey look we’re making a Breaking Bad movie” not meant to be a scene in the actual movie.
@@TheHeadlessCreator in retrospect it obviously served as a deleted scene type of deal. It showed what happened to Skinny Pete after he was apprehended. It was definitely canon.
yeah and the teaser was huell getting out of the safehouse best scene ever
In Granite State, after shooting Andrea, they said “Remember, there’s still the kid”. So if Jesse had ever hurt Todd, they would have gone straight after Brock.
I don't think Jesse was thinking about Brock at that very moment, the ideal solution at that moment would be to kill Todd, turn himself in and make the DEA aware of the threat to the kid's life, and it would be taken seriously considering Brock's mother was shot in the back of the head not too long ago.
Unfortunately Jesse was just completely broken and incapable of seeing clearly.
@@PimpmasterMcGooby Pretty sure the nazis would get to Brock before the DEA. The same happened when they broke into Hank's apartment to steal the evidence. They are quick. To just kill him and depend on the actions of others would be too big of a risk.
@@gab_gallard Remember that this took place during a weekend where the rest of the crew was gone, shooting Todd in the desert and driving to a local FBI or DEA field office would give them sufficient time to put get the child into protective custody.
USMS doesn't fuck around, the kid would certainly be safe from a group of nazi hicks.
@@PimpmasterMcGooby If Jesse talked to any cops he would definitely get arrested and end up in prison, where we have previously seen Lydia having no trouble at getting inmates killed with Walt.
@@TeamSukiyo Remember that with Jesse's knowledge of not only Jack's operation, but also of the murder of Schrader and Gomez (including the location of their bodies), and knowledge of Walter White. He would be put into witness protection immediately and most likely not end up in a jail cell at all.
Ah, yes...the cliff hang-ee becomes the cliff hang-er.
I believe someone once said that stuff like that should be illegal.
lol
I agree
cliff hang-ee is an amazing word haha
"Todd frickin' kills me man" - Drew Sharp
Best comment I’ve ever seen
Jesse DID want to kill Todd, he just realizes that if he does Jack's gang will kill Brock as revenge. Jesse is completely doomed unless the whole gang somehow dies.
;)
I really don’t think the threat to Brock’s life is what stayed Jesse’s hand here when the two of them were alone in the Painted Desert. Jesse could still have easily killed Todd, take his car keys, drive over to Brock’s place, and take him to safety. Uncle Jack and his gang would never know until it was too late for them to enact any revenge.
The reason why I think Jesse doesn’t kill Todd here is that he has been tortured, mistreated, and half-starved for so long that Maslow’s hierarchy of needs kicks in and makes Jesse surrender the gun just for the mere prospect of some beer and pizza to fill his starving belly.
Also, symbolically speaking, this represents Jesse’s continuation of his Esau-like habit where he trades something valuable he has for something of less value. Jesse started by trading a lovingly crafted wooden box for an ounce of weed. He trades his stable life with his family for a life of crime. He trades his potential talents for being a delinquent. He trades his dream of a stable relationship with Jane in New Zealand for temporary pleasures with heroin. Finally, in El Camino, Jesse trades his shot at freedom just for pizza and beer, and I think he realizes that and is reminded of all the other unwise “trades” he has done, making him weep regretfully even more over his past life decisions.
@@mechadoggy I mean they even mention it in the movie when Todd casually brings it up as what he'll do if Jesse didn't behave. Also I think there's nothing easy about Jesse kidnapping a child from his grandma, that's assuming they couldn't track him down wherever he goes or kill him in prison and then Brock if he gets arrested.
Even if Jesse did somehow take Brock, his parents and little brother still live in Albuquerque and the Nazis 100% would've targeted them. Killing the whole gang was the only possible way Jesse could ever leave without someone he cares about being killed.
@@oldaccount9563 yeah but that was like if he ran away, since he had a gun he could just shoot him and drive away to get the kid
@@capybaraandwatermelonenjoy8208 I was saying even if he shot Todd and drove to "get Brock to safety" It's still a losing scenario. The entire gang is a bunch dangerous armed psychopaths that will still be around even if he somehow "gets" Brock (which is already a flawed idea since Jesse is not Brock's dad, it's weird people assume Brock would want to leave his grandma to go live on the run with his dead Mom's ex-boyfriend).
I also said that even if Jesse left with Brock, that doesn't stop the threat. They will retaliate by finding other innocent people Jesse loves. Walt got a rare opportunity to take them all out at once, Jesse has no money or weapons to attack them before they'd go kill Jesse's parents and little brother or something. There's no winning unless every single gang member was taken out at the same time, if even one survived they probably would get revenge.
@@oldaccount9563 he could go to the police, the only people he has left are his mom, dad, brother, pete, badger, brock, and brock's grandma. that's 8 people including himself and they live in groups, he would only need an hour or two to round them up and get them into police custory where they would be well protected after jesse tells them what happened to mike's guys.
The El Camino isn’t Jesse’s car. It’s Todds. We see him driving it in the flashback. Jesse stole his car after escaping and drove it to Skinny and Badger’s place. Then Skinny took the car from Jesse. So it’s impossible for it to be at Todd’s apartment.
I take it you don't believe in the magic bullet?
@@garrettwright6373 what’s that
Part 1??? You got us by the balls
LOL, this guy ain't playin' !
He ain´t joking xd
I think he's serious!
i was thinking " i don't remember them making a part two to this, what i miss?" but realized its just in halves .
he don’t take no bullshit
25:56 i love how he was so invested and engaged by the movie that he called it an episode.
He said it a few times, it's how you know he didn't have to wait years for the movie.
This film initially got 1 showing at the theatre I work at, which sold out within a day of ticket sales going live. Because we were only 1-of-2 cinemas in my city that had it, the distributor allowed us to book more showings throughout the opening weekend. Watching El Camino with Breaking Bad fans was such an incredible experience, and despite it simultaneously streaming on Netflix, many came out to enjoy the flick on the big screen.
Not many people could say this! What an experience my guy
That’s excellent.
Todd looks fatter because at the time of filming this the actor (Jesse Plemons) was also performing as a bigger man in The Irishman, and if two directors ask you to be in a specific shape, you listen to Scorsese
A small detail I noticed before.. Walter finds out Gus is dead in BB through the radio, and Jesse finds out Walter is dead in the same way. Just a nice connection there.
I adore the tension in the gun scene between Jesse and Todd. In spite of the fact that we know they both survive that incident, it doesn't make it any less suspenseful.
If anything it made it even more tense, because you know that Jesse didn't escape, you can't hope for any 'happy end at this moment, you can only fear of how it will turn. In a sense it forces yourself to be in Jesse's shoes, because he didn't believe in his chance to suceed neither, and had only fear of how things could turn (with Brock, with the rest of the gang, etc)
Man, I had to wait so long for this movie. I can’t imagine watching it right after the finale.
Right lol at least we had BCS
I think it was better for time to elapse before revisiting. Let it cool off for quite a while.
Honestly it kinda kills the impact of the original ending, because you're pretty much just adding two more episodes
@@Trapper50cal Yes the weight gains wouldn't of been so noticeable with a six year break.
"El camino" means "The way", when Jesse was in Rehab, the guy who leads the group told him:
"-Hate yourself only stands on the way
-In the way of what?
-True change"
The title is not only about the name of the car that got him out but also what Jesse was seeking from long time ago
This man, he has learned from Vince Gilligan. Used the art of cliffhangers against us.
El Camino is a Spanish phrase and translates to “The Way" in English. Jesse was worried about Brock when he had the gun with Todd, he was warned before Todd took him along.
This is the way.
Bro, El Camino is the type of car that Jesse breaks out of the compound in.
@@richcheckmaker9789 Where in the hell did you get your clue, Dick Tracy ?
@@Thepitz2000 They say "El Camino" in the movie to refer to the car.
@@richcheckmaker9789 no dude. Yes they refer to the el Camino in the movie but it’s a double meaning
The guy who plays Tod's neighbor is the same one who plays Dennis and Dees nazi granpa in It's Always Sunny.
I never knew that!
Fun fact! Season 5 episode 6: "Buyout" is the only episode that Aaron Paul watched in preparation to El Camino, since the beginning flashback with Mike takes place during that episode!
Jesse's PTSD is represented so well in this movie... Phenomenal acting by Aaron Paul
Better Call Saul is a tad slower and starts on a lighter tone but it has the Breaking bad quality and you get a lot more of other great characters from BB (No spoilers anyone!)
BrBa also started on a lighter tone
and just like bb it gets better with the seasons, i'd say bcs s5 is, in terms of quality, even beter than breaking bad right now.
@@anezzzz season 5 ramped it up but the first few seasons were a boring chore
@@mem1701movies i disagree i honestly loved the first couple of seasons.
@@mem1701movies yea not enough drugs and blowing up stuff
If Brandon starts on better call Saul after this then he’ll not only catch up to us, but he’ll be experiencing season 6 with us.

Does season 6 have a release date ?
@@yomamapwnz it’s not official but maybe maybe after 5-6 months
If it's on patreon now will it be uploaded to RUclips later too?
@@victoriansteam1562 yes
Man I am actually so excited for that Better Call Saul reaction, that show just lives up so much to the Breaking Bad name! And it introduces some really cool new characters!
Feeling’s mutual, can’t wait for him to meet Lalo
Not that Todd's death by chain-strangulation on the part of Jesse wasn't satisfying AF *before* watching El Camino -- but afterwards? Yeah. MUCH more so!
I adore this film. I just wish the deleted subplot with Skinny Pete had been included in the final cut.
Do Black Mirror if you want to fully appreciate Jesse Plemons.
I’m thinking of ending things !
How ironic Todd killed his cleaning lady by strangling her. Looks like Jesse ended up returning the favor
-Where is it? Where's the rest?
+Wha-?
-Part 2, Brandon, where is the rest? Brandon? WHERE IS PART 2?!
+It's coming Thursday
- _(hysterically laughing)_
He gave it to T(hurs)[e]d(ay) 🤷
Such a great movie to wrap up the greatest show
You gotta remember, in those scenes where Jesse has a 'chance' of fighting Todd like at his house or in the desert, Jesse's not not acting on it just out of being broken down. Pretty much Jesse's only motivation has been Brock. Todd clearly says that if Jesse tries anything, he'll kill Brock, and even if Jesse were successful, Uncle Jack will know and he would kill Brock.
Jesse Plemons is great in everything he does. From Observe and Report, to The Master, to Fargo.
Game Night
Like Mike is his magnum opus
9:23 Now that you ask, El Camino can be also translated to: The Way/The Road/The Path which can be about Jesse and what he chooses to do with his life now being free
What they put on Todd’s el Camino makes it look like a hearse....genius
*Breaking Bad* really blew up in its later seasons which *Netflix* probably played a big role in because they acquired the whole series around when season 4 was airing!
Jesse Plemons is one hell of an actor, not only in this an BB, but he played a role in a Black Mirror episode perfectly. Highly underrated guy!
I fucking love Todd. The Breaking Bad universe always had an element of black comedy to it and Todd just fits that so perfectly.
In Spanish, El Camino means "The way" or "the Path" so we can say that this si the end for Jesse's Journey. Love these little details
Walt giving him to Todd was unforgivable. I think he knew he went to far and that’s why he saved him in the end.
Todd is an enigmatic character. He doesn't seem like a "Bad" Guy. That animalistic tendency seems like a reflex of being groomed by Jack. He seems alot deeper than just the prototypical Antagonist.
I love how diplomatic he was in essentially saying "Damn! Todd got fat!".
For us that watched Breaking Bad during its original run, we hadn't seen these characters in 6 years so it was even more fun to re-visit them. Great reaction as always.
Happy to hear you shoutout Jesse Plemons. Dude was so good as Todd. If you haven’t seen his episode of Black Mirror you should check it out! He knocks it out of the park with that performance too.
Fargo too.
Wait! He split it in two parts? HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!!
The rest comes on Thursday 😊
I haven’t heard someone say they were sick in a long time without them immediately saying if they thought it was coronavirus or not lol.
I had to wait 6 years for this movie and stayed up until 2 a.m when it came out on Netflix and stayed up til like 4:30 a.m watching it lol. I liked it. I think some people just expected too much. I look at it like a long Breaking Bad episode to resolve Jesse’s story rather than it being a movie.
Great movie littered with brilliant performances. Gilligan really should direct more because he showed here that he's a master. His shot composition is flawless.
The editing and cinematography is top notch. 10 out of 10, perfect ending to this character's journey.
Been saying for years that Gilligan sh pould direct a Bond film.... he would handle the spy component so well, and he proven he can handle suspense and action.. he would be able to make a Bond flick work so well
I was lucky enough to catch this movie in its limited theatrical release. That was one of the best theater experiences I had in 2019, sitting in a sold out room filled with other Breaking Bad fans and enjoying this well crafted epilogue.
I like how Jesse became a man of few words like Clint Eastwood in Westerns.
Damn I've watched BB twice and El Camino twice and I never made the connection that the tarantula was the kids spider. Nice catch Brandon
My boy Brandon is always dropping these gems at the perfect times ✌
I really appreciate how much attention you are paying to everything. That's why I watch your reactions in particular. I mean things like you trying to figure out why being called lieutenant alerts that other guy or what a welding company could have to do with Jack's gang. (And actually getting it right). A lot of people would just miss that.
Something Iv'e always thought about the cleaning lady is that she wasn't snooping. Like Todd said "she barely spoke any english" she probably looked at his encyclopedia to learn some new words.
Imagine in the near future when everyone starting the universe has 11 seasons and a movie to binge
Hope you get well soon. Love your reactions Brandon!
2 reasons Jesse didn't shoot todd:
1: he couldn't kill Jack and the others so they would kill Brock.
2: after many months of torture and being captive, he definitely had some amount of Stockholm syndrome where he wouldn't easily shoot his "masters"
Just number 1
Yeah he definitely did not have Stockholm syndrome. He wanted out and killed Todd the first chance he got.
@@Orangeflava that first moment was his best moment. he gave in for pizza and a 6 pack. definitely some stockholm. there could be underlying meanings related to brock, but at that point he was a desperate, broken man.
@@ColtsFan2016 No, I'm pretty sure it was just Brock. Just like the other guy said, Jesse wouldn't have killed Todd as soon as he had the chance if he had stockholm syndrome
stockholm syndrome kind of negates that as a whole
Movie recommendations for you: Shutter Island and Minority Report
Shutter Island is SO underrated. Aged beautifully. Want to see Brandon react to the car ride convo!!
I think it's my favorite El Camino reaction so far, great job!
You should watch the teaser trailers for El Camino, because they’re basically extra scenes that take place during the film itself. One shows Skinny Pete talking to the DEA, and another shows Jesse listening to the radio in the desert.
26:19 Just Brandon and Jessie driving around together in a Fiero.
XD underrated comment
Ahh Brandon I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling sick, get better soon!
Congrats on growing the channel Brandon!
This Breaking Bad universe is astounding TV and reliving this is a joy with great reactions and pointers. Good stuff Brandon.
The legacy continues! Love that you are continuing on with El Camino.....keep in mind, we had to wait years....YEARS for another taste of BB.
I just finally watched El Camino, and came here immediately to watch your reaction haha
It occurs to me the cash both of them hand to Jessie directly came from Walter. He paid them within days prior to use the laser pointers.
Yupp
no, he literally paid them in the scene with the lasers...
GWS, Brandon! I really enjoy watching movies with you, bro :-)
You know how long we had to wait for this!!
It’s wild that I really sat here and watched this dude watch every episode of Breaking Bad.
Letsss goooo, I’ve been waiting for this one!
Never been so early and damn I'm excited!!! Loved your reactions to Breaking Bad. Watched every single one, though I never left comments (yay anxiety). Watched Breaking Bad over a year ago but just watched El Camino last week in preparation for this! Keep doing what you're doing! :)
Brandon, you should watch a short skit called barely legal pawn with cranston and Paul running a pawn shop.
Also the kinda alt-end scene where walt wakes up but he's actually still the dad from malcolm in the middle.
Both are great.

I watch your show with my 3 year old all the time. He falls asleep and I enjoy the show. I always look forward to new episodes. I'm stoked for True Detective!
Yeahhhhhh man! I've been waiting for this!
This is awesome!! Love your work

I've never seen this myself and I'm happy to see this for the first time with you!
Hi Brandon. This is great I really loved this a lot . I am looking forward to Part 2 on Thursday. When you posted El Camino was going to be on tonight I did not know that this was the movie that you were showing... I got it mistaken by another Netflix movie "El Camino Christmas"~2017 with Vincent D'Onofrio... this was a Happy surprise. I had seen the Netflix El Camino Christmas movie when it first was shown in there and although I did like that movie... this El Camino was much more my style . It was easy to see how much you enjoyed this side of it . Thank you for your reactions here.

So hyped for this. You da man!
I can hear the excitement in your voice right from the start. Great video, looking forward to BCS.✌ the start of the movie is hours before jesse and mike first tell Walt their out. The episode is called buyout. Fyi.oh, and the El Camino was Todd's car.
This movie was one of the biggest surprises ever. I remember the trailer dropping and losing my mind
The editing of this breaking bad crew is a top notch, and they showing this again in this movie
Havent even started the video and im so hype. Mate this is the pinnacle of breaking bad sauce
You ended this just like they ended Tohajiilee...”that is illegal bro! You can’t end an episode like that!” Lol
So excited that you are reacting to this!!! Vince Gilligan was interviewed and he said that he really wanted to finish Jesse's story, but wasn't sure until he called Aaron Paul and asked him if he would be interested in the project. Aaron said yes, of course, and it took Vince a while to write it, so that's the story how this movie came to be!!
Sounds like every other movie sequel
@@mustardmcmane You're absolutely right, but this sequel didn't suck!!
"El Camino" is the car, but it also translates from Spanish to "the way," "the road," "the journey."
Great job on making this video 😁
The good thing about watching Breaking Bad when it came out years before and THEN watching El Camino is that the age difference isn’t as noticeable.
Except for maybe Todd gaining 40 pounds. LOL
“Even in this they haven’t stopped connecting story strands” man I can wait to see how much you’re loving BCS
Noooo the one time I didn't want to be early. Cant wait for part 2 already
I don’t know if Brandon picked up on this but, the way Todd choked the lady to death is exactly why Jesse decided to give him the same fate back in Breaking Bad
I never thought that hearing someone say “pepperoni” would evoke such an emotional response from me
did not expect this so soon !
Skinny Pete was someone they should have trusted more. Guy never screwed up in anything he was tasked with doing.
