Russian speaker here. I believe it is about the corruption in the USSR during Stalin's reign. The lyrics are a metaphor for a state, broken by its lack of resources and subsequent government money collecting spree, made deadly by the death of Lenin and Stalin's questionable morals. The introduction might not immediately appear as if it were related to this theme, but the mention of the supposed communist drinking alcohol is a reference to the repeal on the government alcohol prohibition and subsequent creation of the state monopoly over alcohol. The state was in desperate need of money, and alcoholics from the monarchist reign were ready to spend all their income on alcohol. Vodka was cheap, requiring just 40% drinking water and 60% alcohol, so that's what the Soviet government started producing en mass. All other alcoholic beverages were still outlawed, making the government vodka the only drink these people could drink. It was given to the kids and elderly, causing millions of deaths, thus a fitting beginning to this song.
@@Lazar-w9u you are right, the original commenter is wrong. This is, overall, a very anti communist song and talks about the irony of how they discouraged heavy drinking for members of the state but meanwhile used alcohol to control their people and gain more money/power when the kgb was failing.
I'm sure the song is about human imperfection or/and unscrupulousness. The quote from the beginning sets up the notion of "communist" here, lashing out at the "very industrious" and "correct" communists like a nonpartisan alcoholic. No interpretation with political meaning has yet been thorough enough

@@DrTiggy666 I worked with French keyboard and had the same problem. Same letters, but placed in different places than letters of English keyboard. I think this is general problem of users that trying to use keyboard of almost any another languages.
But I want to say something to you as person who study another languages. There are no equality between sounds of letters of different languages, even if you think some letters have the same sound. This will be obvious to you if you face to non-European languages

its about capturing the dystopian vibe of the late soviet union combined with the tradition of melancholic surrealism and mysticism of the russian culture. its about the discrepancy between the ideology and the reality aswell as people pretending to uphold the former while actively pursuing deviations in the latter. people living in contradiction to the ideology they propagate. a hopeless vibe of a charade perpertrated by everyone while everyone is fully aware its all a farce and every one knows that everyone knows. this leads to an absurd reality with ridiculous double standards and massive dissonance between propagated values and executed reality. thats what the song is about i think. its what a lot of soviet and post soviet cinema, music and literature is about. its a mix of dystopian realism and absurdist escapism. really unique combination that you can only feel in that certain way when youre from there and/or informed on it i think

Это песня не про коммунизм (несмотря на мантру "Я не коммунист"), это в целом песня про догматизм и контроль властвующих над идеологией. Интро демонстрирует двух людей, алкоголика (и, кажется, лирический герой это песни) и догматиста. Догматист верит в идеологию Партии, считая себя истинным коммунистом, в отличии от Алкоголика, который по мнению Догматика не настоящий коммунист т.к. Партия борется с пьянством.

Но это не партбилетчики типа недавно почившего Марка Захарова или тех же Ельцина или Путина и других из номенклатуры и интеллигенции, которые на самом деле представляли из себя государственных капиталистов. Это коммунизма как общественного строя в СССР не было, а коммунисты еще оставались.

So from what I can gather this is about the red scare and the threat of the anti communist agenda rather than a song about how cool it is to not be a communist. not making any conclusions until I hear directly from the band on this though.

I believe it is about the corruption in the USSR during Stalin's reign. The lyrics are a metaphor for a state, broken by its lack of resources and subsequent government money collecting spree, made deadly by the death of Lenin and Stalin's questionable morals.
The introduction might not immediately appear as if it were related to this theme, but the mention of the supposed communist drinking alcohol is a reference to the repeal on the government alcohol prohibition and subsequent creation of the state monopoly over alcohol. The state was in desperate need of money, and alcoholics from the monarchist reign were ready to spend all their income on alcohol. Vodka was cheap, requiring just 40% drinking water and 60% alcohol, so that's what the Soviet government started producing en mass. All other alcoholic beverages were still outlawed, making the government vodka the only drink these people could drink. It was given to the kids and elderly, causing millions of deaths, thus a fitting beginning to this song.
@@Lazar-w9u you are right, the original commenter is wrong. This is, overall, a very anti communist song and talks about the irony of how they discouraged heavy drinking for members of the state but meanwhile used alcohol to control their people and gain more money/power when the kgb was failing.
I'm sure the song is about human imperfection or/and unscrupulousness. The quote from the beginning sets up the notion of "communist" here, lashing out at the "very industrious" and "correct" communists like a nonpartisan alcoholic. No interpretation with political meaning has yet been thorough enough
I don’t necessarily know if I can agree with that, since this is written from someone who’s lived in a communist country, the “red-scare” part doesn’t really make sense. Coming from someone who’s lived in a communist country, this sounds more like the irony of the communist government’s action
