Hey Luke,...I have a question...I have already enrolled in IBM Data Analyst course in Coursera...I have just started this course.....and today I got to know about Google Data Analysis course...so can you please tell me which course will be better?....Data Analyst by IBM or by Google?
This video has changed my career , I remember one year ago when my friend told me to watch this video and pursue this certification, I glad that I did and after putting out a lot of hard work , I’m officially working as data analyst , thank you man for this life changing video .
That's a heck of a friend to recommend this; that is awesome!! Well, you getting your job as a data analyst is nothing short of the hard work that you put into learning the skills of a data analyst. Congrats on achieving this!! 🙌🏼
@@Legin24 I have a bachelors degree in Computer science, although , the certification helped me showcase relevant experience and one have to do projects ( atleast 2 ) to land a entry level DA job and having a sound elevator pitch is necessary to explain those projects, hope this answered your question.
@@shubhambatra6989 yes it did! Basically you stated that having your certification opened new doors for you even though you did have a bachelors degree. So what your saying is my certificate with projects included and showing my experience will help me land my job without a degree?
I extremely like how google had a section where they demonstrated how everyone, even those who doubt themselves, have what it takes to be a data analyst. They gave us exercises that demonstrated that everyone can essentially have an analytical mind, even if you THOUGHT you don't Really glad i took the course. My experience with it had been literally life changing
@@LizInTheSun nope. I haven't completed the case study so it'll still be awhile until then. Turns out the case study is actually optional so i got my complete certificate earlier than i expected. I'll wait until I've completed my case study before attempting to find a job
Honestly someone showing me Coursera changed my life. I used to do manual labor jobs. I felt super discouraged because my skillset was all in industrial settings like that when I hated those kinds of jobs but they were all I could get. Now I'm working to get a data analysis certificate to start doing what I love!
Currently taking the course. I'm not a data analyst brushing up on skills, but I manage 8 food service locations at a university and I constantly analyze data to make decisions - from the food we serve, the marketing plan, to the labor needed every hour, etc. I'm an art college drop out and I loathe my job, but while thinking about what aspects of my job I do enjoy, I discovered it is analyzing data and making it beautiful for everyone using various visualization tools. I am also familiar with some coding - HTML, CSS, Javascript. So this is why I am taking this course. So far so good. I plan on taking the Data Mining and Data Science courses next.
Blaine, thanks so much for sharing this! It's good to hear of your transition into data science and it seems like you are highly excited for this field. You'll have no issues completing this course, excited for your future endeavors!!
Looking for an update post on what you're doing 5 months later and your experiences with the various programs. I'm looking at diving into this as a potential career switch as I'm getting older and my body isn't cut out for physically demanding labor like I was in my youth. Hope to hear back from you. Cheers.
Thank you for this video. I went from being decisive in switching careers from teaching to Data Analytics, to feeling completely overwhelmed with the amount of info I need to learn, and not knowing what questions to ask, to feeling encouraged that this will be a great starting point. I’m enrolled and almost through Week 1 of the 1st course. I’m so ready to have a more technical degree and the opportunity for advancement and pay raises as I increase my skill set. That doesn’t really exist in education.
I too am looking to get out of teaching and have considered this career direction. I honestly don’t have a ton of time for more schooling so I was hoping that getting some certifications would help me along my way.
@@thesoapystitcher2987 I understand that! I actually went back to teaching this year as it is the perfect “mom job” and I’m in a nice school. I’ll keep studying slowly but surely as I have time, keeping it in my back pocket.

Data Analyst here with a degree in an unrelated field. I got into it through self-study of SQL, Python, ML, and Google Analytics. I also got certified with the DA-100 and the retired MCSA's for Power BI. Planning on getting this one as well to help boost my background. I got my first job on complete luck (long story here) but I'm glad something like this is out there.
I'm a social media marketing manager looking to break into a data analyst role, it really gives me hope to read comments like these, currently doing the google course and looking to do more specific courses after that
I’m halfway through Course 4, and I’ve enjoyed it so far. I have a technical background (more hardware level, think A+ Certification). Some takeaways I have on this course is that the videos are a little dry, but select videos have a question or two that pop up through the video or at the end that pertains to the video content. I will say that it does seem like a very high-level overview of everything. I have learned a ton so far and will continue to finish the program. I have started looking at other courses on Udemy and RUclips to supplement my knowledge, especially since Courses 6-8 aren’t available yet (Tableau, R, and the Capstone Project).
Josef thanks for taking the time to share your perspetive. I had concerns too about the dryness, but its good to hear that they are at least informative! Keep up the good work on it!
I have experience in Power BI and I plan on doing this cert and then getting certified in Tableau. I am excited about this opportunity and I appreciate you taking the time to review the course.
I got a scholarship & ended up doin the IT support specialist courses, they are easy, interesting and truth to be told they can be done in 2 days. I believe they can be some introduction to the field but not 100% prepare you to work there. I'm about to finish my CS degree, so it comes as a plus, not a replacement for college
thanks for the honesty and truth. Which course isnt adequate "100% preparation..." are you referring to the IT support specialist course you've done or Data analysis courses that Luke is reviewing?
@@shadaabahmed2955 it was provided to me by my university because they partnered. Also because of a job opoortunity that required me to do some other crtifications
@@LukeBarousse i am refering only to the courses, not the whole certification so i already knew some of the materials and just did the activities. That saves a few hours of lectures
I finished the course in July, and after a 4-month job search, I have found that adding this Google certificate in Data Analytics is only helpful if you already have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as engineering, math, accounting, project management, IT, or business. Even then, you still need some sort of connection with the company you’re applying for, an internship, or some experience. I have a masters degree in education and foreign languages, and I had connections with a large consulting company, but I didn’t even get an interview, even with recommendations, because I simply wasn’t qualified for a Data Analysis job. This course was a GREAT starter for anyone who has zero knowledge of data analysis and the programs used (SQL, Tableau, R) but it will take a significant amount of studying and getting credentials to be eligible for a job in this field. I have continued teaching part-time (because ALL my eggs are in that basket) while going to college specifically for Bioinformatics. I hope this helps others make informed decisions about this program! 😊
Thanks for sharing your experience with the course and job search, Angie! 🙌🏼 Finding a job without a technical degree (or any degree for that matter) seems A LOT harder than those with a degree; hopefully, this changes as we go forward in the future. I feel your perspective is really helpful to those considering this program, so thanks again!!
I have the same doubt.. I've done bsc in biology and currently want to change my domain.. seems like it's gonna be harder for people like me to get an analyst job
I can't speak on this google cert, but I have completed the Google IT Support along with A+ and Net+. I loved the Google over the A+ stuff as there is so much more hands-on and more engaging material. I believe the Google IT would carry a lot more weight if the course had a proctored final exam. To be honest, If I was a hiring manager I would take the person who completed the Google IT cert over a person who took the A+. Hands-on is better than power memorising any day of the week. As for as time, they suggest 6 months, I did it in 10 weeks as I was taking my A+ material. Fingers crossed they come out with some more of these Certs as they would be very beneficial as people re-skill post covid.
@@nunyabiznez6381 I don't agree with this. Google and the consortium of employers have said they are accepting this cert. Also google has success stories of accepting this cert for people that don't have a degree in the field.
Hi Luke!! So fun to meet another data creator here. I love how you really take the time to go into each of these course recommendations and thinking of the course with respect to pros and cons to your audience! What a great approach!
Hey Lillian! You found my channel, sweet! Thanks so much for the kind words, I've taken my approach from a lot of different creators out there; just trying to make this topic more interesting for others. I really enjoyed your podcast with Ken the other day, keep it up!
This is a good video, but I want to point out that coursera does have the auditing mode which allows learners to check the entire course for free but without the certifcate 😊 also, financial aids are available for those in need
Dude just get the financial aid and beg that u don't have money and ur a student. They will give it for free every time I've done it more than 10 times
@@shelby255 yes, of course you can do it and they will grant it all the time, but they are a business also, so I only suggest it to those who really need it. The auditing mode is helpful in case someone want to buy the course, because they will know the quality of what they pay.
I totally agree with your conclusion. This course is great for someone who is looking to get into data analysis. This course looks to be too basic for someone who already some experience.
Heck yeah, I hope more companies jump on this Google company corsution so that those entering the data analysis field have a shot to get a job without a degree!
@@LukeBarousse If I'm not mistaken there are some opportunities to test out of parts of the course if you're already experienced - so if this is you, you may be able to pick up a Google certificate for your resume with a very small time commitment. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though!

I’m struggling to attain a job with my Public Policy degree in this COVID-19 era despite having a decent CGPA and I’m hoping that by joining this course, it would at least boost my employability in the government sector in Singapore or set a good foundation for an alternate career path in digital areas. Great content by the way!
If you're a foreigner then of you'd have a harder time finding an employer willing to sponsor you. Lots of folks in Canada under the student visa are still unable to find an employer willing to give them a work visa.
These online certs are really awesome, I find that the skills I've learned from doing my Cisco CCNA, Cisco CyberOps, Cisco DevNet, Google IT cert as well is more engaging than anything I've learned as a CS student at University. I'm only 18, so I'm a little all over the place, but I really want to get into Data Science/Analysis.
I have a BS in comp sci. Been in web dev for about 4ish years, looking to specialize in data science and analytics. Based on your explanation I think I'd have a better time giving the course a try than trying to go to grad school for the subject/studying on my own. I'm gonna jump in!
Heck yeah this is awesome to hear! I wouldn't discredit grad school completely but definitely think for the value this course provides its a good start! Good luck
Thanks for the quality in-depth video. I did the Google IT support professional in 3 days but I think I'll be spending much more time on this one because Data Analytics is still new to me. I hope I can transition from R and tableau to Python and Jupyter etc. once I get the hang of it :)
I transitioned from R to Python relatively easy. It did take some work, but I felt that R set me up for success for Python. I think you are on a good track!
I like this video. Because you even response to some questions in the comment section. Therefore i could get more information. Thumbs up to you for the very good information about this. Hey Luke! I am currently doing the certification with Google. I am also using data camp to learn SQL, R, Tableau and Python. Once I complete this, I will make a portfolio of my learnings. I currently have a bachelors degree in business and marketing. I’m nervous that I won’t stand out among those with masters degrees in related fields like computer science and statistics. Any advice?
Make sure your portfolio projects can showcase some sort of impact. I feel showcasing an impact is far more valuable than any degree and this is how you can standout!
I've just started the course and also have a bachelors in Business and marketing. Just wondering what code Camp you are doing/ have done to learn sql, r, tableau and python?
Hi! I watched this video after completing Course 3 out of this Certification program. I agree with most of the points Luke spoke up. It's definitely for entry-level people and I would better polish my python skills instead of learning R. Spreadsheets used in this course is Google Sheets, data base - BigQuery, all Google products. What I don't agree is about the speed. Is actually great for beginners! Luke is a pro, so he doesn't really need this course, but for me it's great speed. I don't feel overwhelmed or demotivated.
Hey Vira, thanks for sharing this insight on the course, this is very helpful!! I NOW agree with you about the speed (I didn't think about that when making the video), from what I'm hearing from others like you is that they like the pace. Good luck in completeing the course!
@@kan8602 Hi, thanks for asking. I've finished it 2 months ago. I liked it. It gives some foundation of data analytics and so on. You would need more time and resources to practice SQL, spreadsheets and I would suggest Python instead of R. So in all, it gives you some knowledge, but not a complete guide to a new profession. Barely no support for a new job search, and no job listings for entry level positions from their side. Good entry level course, to understand what Data Analytics is all about, but nothing more. Good luck!
hot take: I would also prefer python and power bi and I also learned R first!! While it is excellent for research, for building pipelines in industry python i think is better :)
I am nearly finished with this course and have enjoyed it so far. It is VERY entry-level but does a good job covering most of the basics. My critique would be they spend way too much time in Excel/Sheets and not nearly as much in SQL, Tableau and R as I would have liked. I also would have liked more variety. Power BI is not mentioned and Python is not covered which are extremely popular tools.
Thanks for this, I love your feedback. I've heard similiar complaints about the overuse of Excel and underuse of other tools.... hopefully google will adapt the course in the future for this type of feedback
I think that you could still land a role even without this certification provided that you have many years of experience working, in general, to back it up. I wouldn't imagine they'd hire a high school kid with just this but someone who has a very diverse background to demonstrate that they are capable of learning more and very quickly.
@NeedForSpeedBadBoyz Even then now that I'm looking back at this, proving your knowledge through a project and demonstrating the passion behind it is more valuable to an employer than this. It's just a bandaid for your belief system that you can do the job with what you already know. A lack of experience gives the impression of imposture syndrome in our minds when all you need to do is confirm that you can do it in your own mind by just doing a project that resonates with you to stand out.
Very nice video. I am taking this course- As you said, this course only gives you the introduction and provides further resources to explore further. It’s up to us to dive deep into these topics on our own time and develop our skills.
I started with the IBM Data analysis professional course, then I found this google course, and I think is much better, specially for begginers. They show all the information in a clear and easy way to understand. What I found perfectly, in order to start from zero knowledge in this field.
Good video! At the moment I'm a Finance & Control student. I see that managing data / data visualization is increasingly part of the controller's job responsibilities. I also find it interesting. Do you think this could be a good addition to my CV?
Hey, I'm doing my bachelor's in statistics already. But it focus on theory only So I'm looking to enhance my skill technically and want to know professional things.. so do you think I should go for it?
Does your degree cover any basics of data analysis (I think it does). If so I think this may be a waste of your time and it may be better spent on specializing on other areas (python, tableau, power bi, etc.)
@@LukeBarousse yes, it does cover all theoretical concepts. Regression, hypothesis testing, operation research, probability and many thing but not python etc. So can you make some video on good course for technical skills, please 🙂❤️

Thanks for sharing this. I feel like the certificate is very beneficial in teh way you are using it. It's always beneficial to learn and grow your knowledge base on interesting topics.
Hi Luke, thank you for the video. I just started researching Data Analyst training and certification and was planning on studying Excel, SQL and Tableau when I saw this Google course covers them. As I am brand new to Data Analytics and have only gone through Trade Schools and Military training (no college degree), I have a different view from some of your comments on this course. I think 6 months and under $250 for a certificate that will get your foot in the door is not a huge investment (time or money), especially when you compare that to the cost and time of a college degree. When you commented on the portion of the course you watched being dry and then having to speed it up, I believe this is because of your experience level, with you already being an analyst. This course is for someone like myself that is brand new to Data Analytics, and I would appreciate a slow, deliberate pace of the material over speeding through it so I can finish faster and save $100. My last comment is about you stating this course isn't the only thing you will need for a career as a Data Analyst. My impression is that Google is saying you do not need any experience to take this particular course, not that you will not need further experience after completing it. None of this is meant in a mean spirited way, if that's how any of it comes across. I am just stating my opinion as a "newbie" to the field, and what I think is a very good offering from one of the tech giants to get more people trained in what they need to be trained in to get to work right away. Again, thanks for the video, this is the first of yours I've watched, going to check out some of your others.
Is there any stats on people getting jobs or switching careers thanks to these certification? Any insights on that and compensations would be much appreciated
Its a new certificate (for data analysis) so no stats on this particular cert yet. But they have good stats on their website regarding their other certs.
Yes, please review the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate and Johns Hopkins Data Science Specialization. I believe they are favorable among employers.

@@miles2travel308 whatever course you choose there is an option on the course main page to apply for financial aid. The steps are simple, you have to explain why you are seeking for financial aid and what makes you unable to pay the fee of the course and that's it

I'm basically python automation developer. I have interest in data analytics. I learnt Tableau and SQL already. Will this course/certificate help me to standout in the competition and make my career transition easier?
Depending on your level of knowledge it may be a waste of your time if you already know the things that they are teaching you. You may want to consider other projects for your portfolio or other certifications
I got a question about whether Google's course or IBM's course on data analytics, which one to prefer. It would be really helpful if you can provide any guidance over this.
@@LukeBarousse hey do you have an answer for this concern? I have the same question rn - I'm a biotech and biochem major, and wanted to get these skill to sorta broaden my job choices etc
Also just to be clear Google, isn't making any money off these certificates. Coursera is the company charging to support the costs they incur. Google is actually sponsoring financial aid for those that qualify to allow them to take the course for free. So if anything Google is losing money on this....
Not necessarily. I work in the data field. Are you recent college graduate or seasoned physics related professional. Companies are more likely to take a chance on a recent grad with a degree that's not as relevant if they show initiative to learning about the area they want to work in, i.e. data
@@ginama3162 nah i just graduated with a physics degree actually post graduate, but I lost interest in my field so I didn't do a PhD like some of my colleagues did. I'm searching for something else, data analysis seems good although I've been teaching physics for a year now but not satisfied with the job, i mean teaching is a wonderful job and my students are 100% satisfied with my teaching many of them got good marks but somehow i feel like I'm not growing I'm just helping other people to grow, i kinda feel stuck. So that's why I was thinking to may be it's time for a career shift
@@KiranSharma64414 I would explore before committing to your next move just in case, the worst thing is to move into a data career and hate that too. It's not impossible to change careers. but in your case I would try to leverage your physics degree and perhaps Segway into understanding of computer systems if the goal is to switch into tech in general, or if data is your goal I would study/track aviation companies and automobile companies, realistically to see how they leverage data because these industries may want you the most for your full background data analyst w/ strong physics knowledge for example.
As someone who completed the "Google IT Support Professional" course with all 6 units and then did a introductory unit at University it's clear as day the google courses simply do not test you enough. They give good information but to pass doesn't mean you need to understand any of it you just need to be able to pass automated quizzes which can be brute forced. I'm sure industry recruiters are aware of this and I'd say it's a very good idea to still get a degree, either that or grind out projects. For me I'll get these sides certs whenever I have time, finish my Bachelor of IT, make projects and get staple certs [aka AWS/Azure, Cisco, Security+ etc etc]
Thanks for sharing your past experience. I think for the certificates you get out what you get back in. Yeah you can try to scam the system and just power through to get the cert... but when it comes time to interview and demonstrate skills if you didn't take the time to learn it on your own then it'll be useless.
Hi Luke! First of all thank you for bringing video on this certification. I was learning Data Science Concepts but being from non maths background I found some of the STATS Concepts difficult to understand so thinking to move to learning Data Analytics instead. Is it possible to move to Data Science after working as Data Analyst for few years ? Actually I am making longer term goals.
Hey Vivek, what do you mean by moving to Data Science after working as Data Analyst? As a data analyst you are working in the realm of data science, therefore moving is not necessary?
@@LukeBarousse Ohh that's nice. I read that Data Science & Analyst are different jobs. In my country they are asking like 3+ years of exp in python and sql for an entry level data scientist. Hey Luke, just found your channel. You're making good content. Keep up. I am facing sort of a confusion and maybe you can help. I've been in digital marketing for the last 2 years and use web and search Analytics tools quite often. I am quite decent at data studio and spreadsheets as well. I also learnt bit of python, R and Tableau some time ago through online courses and did a few small projects but I don't feel confident at them, mainly because of a lack of practice. Btw my company doesn't use SQL and it's completely alien to me. I want to use my experience in marketing to grow as a data professional. I had been eagerly waiting for this course since google announced it last year. But now I feel it won't be very helpful to me. Do you think I should take this course to further my career? If not, what would you suggest I should learn and do to move to the next level?
Hey my dude! I understand your concern. Overall, it seems like you have a bit of experience in analytics already. Is your goal to switch to one of these employers that accepts the google certificate? If so then yes I would highly recommend it for this reason. If it's not, and your only goal is to just up-level your skills for improving your career options, I think that they have many different courses out there to learn skill further. Overall though it seems like you really want experience so I'd start first with building a portfolio with those tools you mentioned above. Thats the only way you are going to get good at them. Once you have the base knowledge, no course will be better than actual hands on practice! Hope this helps.

I’ve a question. I’m a junior in college currently, majoring in computer science, but I hate it. It feels too late to change major and my current college don’t have data analytics. Is it a good idea to just finish my bachelor and do a masters in data analytics? I did a 120 hours long data analytics course and really loved it.
It all depends on what you want to do following obtaining your degree (and if the employer you want to work for requires a certain degree). I've seen plenty of people working in the field of data analytics, without a specialized degree in this area. So I really think you can't go wrong either way with pursuing masters or not.
@@LukeBarousse So would you say in terms of time and money spent, doing a course like the one in the video, ( a bit more advanced) is a better idea than doing a master's? Considering a lot of big companies like Tesla and Google don't require degrees anymore? I'm sorry if I sound dumb, but since I'm a first-generation college-goer, I don't have anyone to take advice from. Thanks for your help.
@@tamzidchowdhury472 You will definitely be paying off that masters degree for a long time but employers like computer science degrees so a masters will make you stand out. It’s also possible to try and get a job and then complete your masters afterwards.
@@tamzidchowdhury472 No problem at all my dude. Its really hard to say that this is better than a masters. Its really got to depend on who you want to work for and the job you want to take. It's all going to depend and I can't really say what is a better option.
Yeah, I’ll be a data analyst. It’s just a rework of my current skill set. Throw in some soft skills, selling ability, public speaking and I might make a pretty good living.

I have taken several coursera certificate courses and one thing I wish they improve on is making final projects more challenging. Even the Google courses on Coursera suffer from this issue.
Yeah, I think it could be made more challenging. BUT I think you can make the best of it by adding on to this project. Plus when showcasing this to employers you can then share a story of how you went above and beyond for a project in order to learn a skill for the job. I think employers would appreciate that.

Any additional information?

How long this course is? How many hours required to complete course?
I am really happy to hear about your career path... I am also a teacher but want to switch as data analyst

To be honest, If I was a hiring manager I would take the person who completed the Google IT cert over a person who took the A+. Hands-on is better than power memorising any day of the week. @NeedForSpeedBadBoyz Even then now that I'm looking back at this, proving your knowledge through a project and demonstrating the passion behind it is more valuable to an employer than this. It's just a bandaid for your belief system that you can do the job with what you already know.
Thanks for sharing this perspective!!
Such a clear voice and concise explanations. Thank you.

Its a new certificate (for data analysis) so no stats on this particular cert yet. But they have good stats on their website regarding their other certs.

Hi, I completed this course. It was about 2-4 hours per day and taking your sweet time learning the details. I am sure you can go much faster, but if you have a job it will be different. Try to do a capstone project, just pick an easy goal.
Thanks for sharing this!
I'm basically python automation developer. I have interest in data analytics. I learnt Tableau and SQL already. Will this course/certificate help me to standout in the competition and make my career transition easier?
Yes it will help you.

IBM is used more academically, AWS, Azure, and Google are used more professionally across different industries.

I feel it's a review. I do disclose that the link is an affiliate link.
Also just to be clear Google, isn't making any money off these certificates. Coursera is the company charging to support the costs they incur. Google is actually sponsoring financial aid for those that qualify to allow them to take the course for free. So if anything Google is losing money on this....
Is this certification is available in UAE? I heard this has value inside US Canada only.
A very good n balanced 'intro' to the topic n almost spot-on, I would say.

Hello! I’m concerned if I need to have basics in coding in order to understand this course 🙄
Nope, not at all! This is aimed at beginners that have no experience with coding!
I'm from physics background, suppose i completed that course, is there any possibility that any of these companies will hire me?
Based on the statistics Google provided on this, I think it's a strong possibility. I can't guarantee it but it looks promising.
Well! I'm planning to shift my career into IT, so would it be helpful for me to get an entry level job?
Have you looked into the IT certificate from google... this may be better suited to enter a career in IT.
@@LukeBarousse thank you😊
So I am thinking to prepare for Data Analyst instead cause they are not asking a lot for that but some internship experience. Being from non STEM background and inevitable competiton among engineers, I am finding it hard to make my way here. I am from travel background and even in travel anlaytics they are asking for engineers with 2 yeare exp for Data related roles. I was almost to the edge of giving up. I somehow gathered courage & restarted learning python.
@@vivekjoshi3769 Hey my dude, sorry I got cofused. So you are asking move from Data Scientist from Data Analyst after a few years... I think it would depend on the company. Data Scientists typically require degrees from what I have seen, so I would recommend (since you are new to this field) consider going the Data Analyst route to learn more about data science.
@@LukeBarousse Hey thank you so much. I really appreciate you took time to reply to me twice. I love this support. Thank you.

@@LukeBarousse Waiting for your thoughts on this.
@@LukeBarousse , thanks man for taking out the time to reply. Really appreciate your words. Tbh, I don't really aspire to work at these big names. I started my career in the startup world and seem to love the thrill it comes with. I'd love to continue my career in high growth companies. It really means a lot for young people like me who are trying to carve a path out for themselves :)

@@tamzidchowdhury472 You might find Computational Social Sciences somewhat interesting

@@tamzidchowdhury472 No problem at all my dude. Its really hard to say that this is better than a masters. Its really got to depend on who you want to work for and the job you want to take. It's all going to depend and I can't really say what is a better option.

Yeah, I think it could be made more challenging. BUT I think you can make the best of it by adding on to this project. Plus when showcasing this to employers you can then share a story of how you went above and beyond for a project in order to learn a skill for the job. I think employers would appreciate that.
