    I was wondering if there is any guidance on how much downtime a character should get per level?

  • @skillmatey7144
    @skillmatey7144 10 месяцев назад

    Is there a different mechanic if you want to learn additional lore? For example, one of my players wants to learn more about herbology that another player is willing to teach. Does that player have to replace a skill since it’s just knowledge?

    Maybe it's just how I've viewing this Downtime or if it's the amount of game 'time' these activities seem to take and/or the amount of options there are and how specific each activity is and that EVERYTHING is tracked, but it seems like Downtime would eat up a bunch of IRL time?

    In the example with the tea guy, how would the GM determine the DC? would it be based off the table on page 236 in the CRB or just whatever the Gm felt? Not sure where the levels play a role in setting dcs

    • @HowItsPlayed
      @HowItsPlayed  2 года назад +2

      You would use the table on page 503 to set the DC. Compare the "Task Level" on page 236 to the DCs table on 503. For example, a level 5 task is DC 20.

    I still wonder based on what those DC and job levels are set by the GM.

    • @HowItsPlayed
      @HowItsPlayed  4 года назад

      For earn income, the Job Levels are mostly based on the settlement. So if the players are in a 6th level settlement, they should be able to find common work that is 2 levels lower, or 4th level. Doesn't matter if the character is 1st level or 12th, jobs from level 1 to 4 would be common to find in a 6th level settlement. I they want to do a 5th or 6th level job, they'll need to have a reputation. special connections, or spend at least a day on diplomacy or gather information checks to secure one of those jobs.
      The DCs for the task are set by the GM using the information on page 503.

      @@HowItsPlayed I got that, but What should be a work lvl 2. If i need to set that, it whould be based on what?

    • @Laddeus
      @Laddeus 4 года назад

      @@thiagoalch733 "Table 10-5: DCs by level" on page 503 in the Core Rule Book, is a good start. You can also adjust the DC with Table "10-6: Dc Adjustments".

    I'm especially curious about the Subsist downtime activity and how the whole looking for food and shelter works. I'm also confused about Subsist activity, because I don't know whether in Exploration mode PCs should also use it to search for food and whatnot.

    • @HowItsPlayed
      @HowItsPlayed  4 года назад +2

      By RAW you wouldn't be able to use Subsist while in Exploration mode, but the rules do specify that you can use Subsist after 8 hours of Exploration, but at a -5 penalty to the check. Within the narrative, I think that could actually occur (at least in part) while the party is traveling in Exploration Mode.

    • @GamingMansion
      @GamingMansion 4 года назад

      @@HowItsPlayed So how would hunting for food and shelter work for example if PCs were in exploration mode for 7 days?

    • @HowItsPlayed
      @HowItsPlayed  4 года назад +2

      During the day, the character would be in exploration mode performing one of the Exploration Activities. Afterwards, they would roll a Survival with a negative 5 penalty versus a DC set by the GM for the Subsist Downtime Activity to see if they found food or shelter.
      Another option, with the GM's permission, would be to allow the player to use the Search Exploration Activity and say they were looking for food or shelter. I don't think that's RAI, but the GM could do that if they wished.
