djh491 Nope. Same goes for Adv. Chopper Bros. On the flip side though, I heard that you only need to execute a Bros. Attack 4 or 6 times successfully to learn the Advanced command, so you’ll at least get them sooner than later, especially for ones that take a while to get in the first place like the Knockback and Chopper Bros (though based on this channel’s boss montage, that appears to be false). Also a nice little detail is that Luigi gets his “light bulb” moment for when he learns all of his advanced moves rather than just for Cyclone Bros.
Rexaura888 I'll miss being able to do that, but I do like the new versions too. Those moves were way too easy to abuse and I didn't really find myself using the other advanced moves as much, so I appreciate the remake trying to be more balanced.
I think that was done for balancing purposes. Plus you feel stronger than normal anyways. And yes I think having the BiS and on double jump attack partially contributes to that making you feel like you kill faster. I hope it has a hard mode. I haven't looked up if it does but I hope it does. Like dream team did.
I've never played this version of the game but I feel like these 'updated' moves don't capture the feel of the originals, ya know? Maybe it's just me but in the original they felt quick and snappy, it always felt super satisfying to pull one off perfectly. In this, they're really floaty and take longer. That's just my opinion and again, I've never played this version so I can't say for sure. EDIT: Thank you all so much for the likes and comments, it's the most I've ever gotten!
2:49 Oh, you were so close to the special fireball that burns the struck foe! On a serious note, however, some of the enemies are much easier to deal with in the 3DS version than they are in the GBA version. Also, for anyone who hasn't figured it out yet, either Mario or Luigi will flash ! in the GBA version of the game if you haven't done the Advanced version of the attack. If you have, they will flash the normal color, like you should press that button. Also, the Cyclone Bros. can target multiple foes if you hit the D-pad in the right direction.
I love how they brought the bros. attacks back, but I don't really like how they handled the advanced moves. I kinda liked having them be the same attack option, but depending on what inputs you give you get a different attack, but now they're just seperate attacks altogether...
I agree with you partially. The secret (?) Bros moves are definitely more powerful in the 3DS version of the game. Super Thunder Bros having pink-purple lightning is pretty cool, though, and Luigi even knows he's awesome when he does this move. However, I miss how Fire Bros isn't a very powerful single target nuke attack when it's Advanced (Super) in this game.
Cant say I agree. I felt that the upgraded versions added a lot more umpf to the attacks. For example the Cyclone attack hammer finisher in the original felt like a puny toy hammer hit compared to the updated one.
i hope in future mario and luigi games we can have some of these skill attacks (like when you only get it from learning a skill outside of battle) and mix that with some of the item based ones we see in the other games like the Shell and Fire Flower, or maybe something like, in PiT and BiS the bros shared their attacks but then in other games they werent, maybe there could be some shared attacks that both could do like the Yoo-Hoo cannon from BiS or the Cannonballer's from PiT, and mix it with bro excusive moves like the Slingsniper and the Rocket Blast
I agree. The newer item-based attacks are awesome, but they take pretty long and its boring when they are spammed in later battles. Mixing in Bros. attacks as stronger, but still fast moves would be a nice compromise.
Seeing the new animations, I can’t imagine how anyone could say they’re less expressive than the old ones. Do you see how the brothers cheer each other on in the middle of their attacks? Adorable!
I prefer the 3DS version; the fact they're not as quick means it should be easier to pull off the moves - something I had issues with in SS GBA. I also like how the animations of some have been changed; my favourite would have to be the last one shown - "GO WEEGEE!"
While the original attacks did seem to have a bit more impact at times, I do like the remake's attacks better, as they're easier to pull off, aren't as cheap like the infinite knockback bros in the original, and look flashier.
I like (most of) the superstar saga bros attacks better because they were more quick which I think made them fit more with the chaotic tone, and also they were harder to pull off in the game boy advance version which made them much more satisfying when you actually get them down and pull them off. edit: also some bros attacks is superstar saga were infinite, which they seem to have removed in the 3ds version in favor of excellents which I don't really like that much, I liked having infinite bros attacks, but I will admit the excellents are satisfying to pull off
To be honest. I don't mind that they slightly changed the moves. I don't mind that they made them their own attack options either. Still gotta use the original attack enough to unlock the advanced version anyways.
I think the remake did a fantastic job recreating everything in the original. Looking forward to the BIS remake and the MLPT whenever they decide to do that one. Hopefully soon since the game is already rare as hell. Making it the only one not updated would be a mistake
@@illseeyaonthedarksideofthemoonthat's not why. They went under because they remade their games on a dying console. Not to mention that one of those games was already playable on the console it was being remade for.
I just beat Mario & Luigi GBA via the Switch yesterday and jeez I couldn't figure out 30% of those advanced ones, it's interesting to see what you had to do and how the remake handles - I didn't know going back to level 1 showed you the advanced inputs as some of the comments say 💭
First and foremost, I love this game. GBA was so much nostalgia and it got me doing challenge runs because how many times I have played and how much I love the game. I played through the remake and even though its solid, the GBA still takes it for me. That being said, its good see certain bros attacks like the element attacks and luigis cyclone bros move getting damage buffs in the remake since those moves could be somewhat underwhelming in the original. Still, I miss how the GBA has certain “infinite” bros moves like knockback bros so long as your timing is good. I swear the funniest memories were fights were i beat the enemy from full health because I kept going until they got KOd 😅
I disagree, they seem to take the same amount of time to perform, if not only by a second or two more just to be more cinematic; in fact, Fire Bros. is performed faster in the remake than in the original.
Here is my view on the remake. People who grew up with the original feel more obligated to say that the original is very humorous and captures that sense of humor differently compared to how they do now. People who will play this new version first, and play the original later will most likely prefer the new version due to it being more familiar with them. I can't explain it well, as it is hard, but having comparisons I feel is the improper way to view the game.
+Hubismal Nah. The remake doesn’t lack expression. In reality, is just as expressive as the original with only a few exceptions. Those exceptions being Toad’s freak-out expression in the intro, Bowser’s facial expression after getting shout out of a cannon, and Luigi’s face after getting punched in the balls. Also, the vividness in the remake is still there but toned down to give us beatitful shadows and backdrops.
I personally like the remake more. In a sense where the animation, sfx, visuals, and all that, including the little brother callouts, ending animation, and Ok! Good! Great! Excellent! Having more of an upgrade, all in all was amazing, but I will admit, the original is wayyyyyy too iconic, and the pacing was definitely better
Looks neat, but I feel like they removed some of the skill factor in the remake. Some attacks became less needy of input, and the timing is much more lenient now. Probably the most disappointing thing IMO is how they handled Advanced moves. In the original, you had to discover when you could execute Advanced moves within the normal Bros. Attack. Here, the moves now dubbed Super Bros. Attacks are as streamlined as a normal Bros. Attack which IMO takes away the satisfaction of learning the move yourself.
BizerkPixel agreed, also, i hate how the advance knockback and chopper bros aren’t infinite anymore, they weren’t even that overpowered because you needed to learn how to time it. This game ruined those attacks and made them way worse
LiamPlqys Oh Come On, I Have Played Through The Entire Original Game, The Only Thing I Used Was Advanced Knock back Bros Since I Could Do It Perfectly So It Was Endless, Only Thing I Did, Ever, And It Made The Game Too Easy Imo, But That's Your Opinion, And I Won't Judge You.
Thunder Master I know this comment is a month old, but can you fix how nearly *every* word you used is in capitals? It's a huge pain to read and respond to. It feels like one big run-on sentence because it's exactly that.
Is it hard to type like that, dude? Do you hit Shift for every word, or do you go back and do it through Auto Correct. This isn't how you type words, dude. You only capitalize the first word, names, and places.
I also really hated how they made them separate AND make them require more BP. It was nice to me to have to go back to speed 1 to figure out the advanced version... (and to this day I STILL don’t know how to properly perform the advanced thunder bros...)
Ehh I think it’s more down to preference then one actually being better given how well pixel art has aged I played a lot of dream team so I am very bias when it comes to the way the new games look but I like both just don’t think the old pixel art really fits the series as well
@@crazycanyon3028 honestly fair, it’s been 6 years and now I agree the remake pixel art is very good, but I still really like the solid outlines and simple expressiveness of the original, but then again I just played the original bowsers inside story as a kid so it’s probably mostly nostalgia lmao. Either way hyped for brothership that game looks awesome
You fight Hermie III before you fight Popple when he teams up with Birdo. So put simply, the attack power is lower because the footage is showing an earlier part of the game.
I kinda don't like how they got rid of the option to choose between an advanced move and a normal move with a different input during the attack, but I can see why they did it.
I have to say the only thing I like about the remake bros attacks are that some of their animations are better than in the original and the excellent animation is good. But unlike the original it's very slow so loosing some of that momentum you have.. well that happens a lot. Personally I think the speed of how the bros attacks happen, even the battle system of the original always keeps the player on their toes alot more than in this remake. That speed decrease also makes it seem like they made them to be easier to perform now which I mean is fine, the normal bros attacks should be easy as it is a kids game. But this stretches into the advanced ones, or super which in the original were stronger harder to perform versions that rewarded you for being able to pull them off. That does also bring me into the separate attacks for normal and super bros attacks. Im not knowledgable of how the advanced versions happen in the remake, but I do prefer the old style where the bros would come up with it in their own and the advanced versions of bros attacks were a thing you could do if you wanted to but were not separate from what the normal attack is. Like what the advanced attack is, coming up on the fly with a better way to do more. That concept gives that feeling that they are a team and bros and support each other in battle and everywhere else a lot more. It also made the menu less clunky without the super versions taking up space as well. But again as a kids game it does make it easier. All in all I feel the games trying to be made more like Dream Team for one and two, more kid friendly which is all nice and well. Dream Team was good despite not being the best of the M&L games. But I can say without a doubt for me, a lot of the old Charm and love based on the art, style and gameplay has been lost.
The remake is much better. The original is still special but the remake actually makes the moves more usable and awesome looking. I do not care what the nostalgic whiners and haters have to say.
@@kirbytheartist3318 A few people in the comments have made the point that the remakes feel slower and clunkier for button timings compared to the GBA, which is completely valid imo. I still like the remakes for what they are, though.

Rexaura888 I'll miss being able to do that, but I do like the new versions too. Those moves were way too easy to abuse and I didn't really find myself using the other advanced moves as much, so I appreciate the remake trying to be more balanced.
note: 'trying'
I think that was done for balancing purposes. Plus you feel stronger than normal anyways. And yes I think having the BiS and on double jump attack partially contributes to that making you feel like you kill faster. I hope it has a hard mode. I haven't looked up if it does but I hope it does. Like dream team did.
Wait. How did you make it go endlessly? I never knew you could do that.
1:09 The OK on the super chopper bros. was timed perfectly
With the music.
Also 4:23
I've never played this version of the game but I feel like these 'updated' moves don't capture the feel of the originals, ya know? Maybe it's just me but in the original they felt quick and snappy, it always felt super satisfying to pull one off perfectly. In this, they're really floaty and take longer. That's just my opinion and again, I've never played this version so I can't say for sure.
EDIT: Thank you all so much for the likes and comments, it's the most I've ever gotten!
Robotnik Mania I agree with you man
Robotnik Mania i also agree
chefinabottle 15 only looks how badass luigi looks on Thunder bros and how looks in 3ds version...
The newer ones look so slow and just like, meh
I agree it took skill to do the ones in da original, now it looks like Nintendo is babying us (my opinion)
Dear lord, the remake is utterly perfect in this regard. All of the attacks are unapologetically brutal and just look so much cleaner. I love it!
Not only that, they're seperate attacks with seperate cost
Am I the only one who thinks the gba animations pack more punch (also how much fire Bros has changed)
Sephiroth doesn't stand a chance
5:44 GO WEEGEE! XDDD
Dont do he say luigi?
*obliterates enemy in next quarter of s second*
5:48 HE SAID IT, HE SAID IT!
i hope in future mario and luigi games we can have some of these skill attacks (like when you only get it from learning a skill outside of battle) and mix that with some of the item based ones we see in the other games like the Shell and Fire Flower, or maybe something like, in PiT and BiS the bros shared their attacks but then in other games they werent, maybe there could be some shared attacks that both could do like the Yoo-Hoo cannon from BiS or the Cannonballer's from PiT, and mix it with bro excusive moves like the Slingsniper and the Rocket Blast
I agree. The newer item-based attacks are awesome, but they take pretty long and its boring when they are spammed in later battles. Mixing in Bros. attacks as stronger, but still fast moves would be a nice compromise.
Cpl. Dilivery Hoovy that's actually a cool idea. I like that.
Maybe they should make a bunch of bros attacks and let u choose the ones u want
Only 1 word..rip..
Yeah... about that...
Seeing the new animations, I can’t imagine how anyone could say they’re less expressive than the old ones. Do you see how the brothers cheer each other on in the middle of their attacks? Adorable!
Wait, what just happened to Fire Bros.?
I don’t think so I think they tried a more modern take
It's more in-line with the Mix Flowers and Falling Star from Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story respectively.
Falling Star only targeted one enemy
Kirby DX Yes, I know. It's still closer to it than the original version.
I think the fire bros on the newer version is alot cooler and faster
No way this game is already 6yrs old time really flies man!
Sephiroth when he thinks the attack is finally over, but then sees "Advance!": 💀🔫
I honestly like how the older "Super moves" are basically a spur of a moment choice of one brother rather than a concious co-ordination of both .
I prefer the 3DS version; the fact they're not as quick means it should be easier to pull off the moves - something I had issues with in SS GBA.
I also like how the animations of some have been changed; my favourite would have to be the last one shown - "GO WEEGEE!"
PokeMaster22222 Same. While i do absolutly love superstar saga, i like the remake even more!
PokeMaster22222 I love that part too!Go Weegee!
I Liked when he said *"Go Luigi!"* During Super Thunder Bros.

Luigi to Mario: “Nothing can hurt us, as long as we’re together.”
While the original attacks did seem to have a bit more impact at times, I do like the remake's attacks better, as they're easier to pull off, aren't as cheap like the infinite knockback bros in the original, and look flashier.
Agreed
My god, nothing is more satisfying than getting an excellent rating on super cyclone bros in the remake at least, that shit was insane
Well, about that...
@@IzzyCrafted that is what we would call the curdled milk of comments

@@illseeyaonthedarksideofthemoonthat's not why. They went under because they remade their games on a dying console. Not to mention that one of those games was already playable on the console it was being remade for.
@@squid_cake You really are a clueless fool...
I just beat Mario & Luigi GBA via the Switch yesterday and jeez I couldn't figure out 30% of those advanced ones, it's interesting to see what you had to do and how the remake handles - I didn't know going back to level 1 showed you the advanced inputs as some of the comments say 💭
2:55 this is the origin for mario’s forward air in super smash brothers 4
Wasn’t it in Melee tho so that’s not right
I prefer the original. Something about the remake feels off
Cero to me I'm was use to playing the gba version when I was little
It's look for like. A children's movie then in the original series
Cero
nah. the re-make its fine. it feels odd cause the nostalgia.
nah i didnt grow up with m&l and i prefer it.
same bro...
i dont like new mario & luigi aestheticlly overall
No, I think its because its a remake and people dont like remakes, never, ever, same story always...
Also, the Bros. Attacks in the latest M&L games are kinda like items.
It's not really using special techniques that the bros learn.
I swear the funniest memories were fights were i beat the enemy from full health because I kept going until they got KOd 😅
omg in the remastered version, it takes a hell year to finish the attacl
I disagree, they seem to take the same amount of time to perform, if not only by a second or two more just to be more cinematic; in fact, Fire Bros. is performed faster in the remake than in the original.
Tell that to the original fire bros.
5:48 *GO WEEGEE!*
Point for GBA: They're faster and flashier.
Point for 3DS: You can actually do the Advanced Bros. Moves without googling a cheat guide.
I don’t know why but I cringed when the advanced Splash Bros. attack was used on Queen Bean when she wasn’t wearing her crown.
The remake fundamentally lacks expression though. It's less vivid, contrasts the background even worse and as a result is a poor style choice
Not to mention the 3DS's 3D graphics aren't good?
+Hubismal Nah. The remake doesn’t lack expression. In reality, is just as expressive as the original with only a few exceptions. Those exceptions being Toad’s freak-out expression in the intro, Bowser’s facial expression after getting shout out of a cannon, and Luigi’s face after getting punched in the balls. Also, the vividness in the remake is still there but toned down to give us beatitful shadows and backdrops.
Ya can't compare to the original's graphics
@@realestAG it really lacks in soul
Thunder Master
I know this comment is a month old, but can you fix how nearly *every* word you used is in capitals? It's a huge pain to read and respond to. It feels like one big run-on sentence because it's exactly that.
Is it hard to type like that, dude? Do you hit Shift for every word, or do you go back and do it through Auto Correct. This isn't how you type words, dude. You only capitalize the first word, names, and places.
I also really hated how they made them separate AND make them require more BP. It was nice to me to have to go back to speed 1 to figure out the advanced version... (and to this day I STILL don’t know how to properly perform the advanced thunder bros...)
Who else finds it difficult to consistently get Excellents with Super Cyclone Bros.?

I love how in DX Mario and Luigi sound like their have a hell of a good time!
Maybe it’s just me, but I feel the pixel style looks better in the original
I agree!
Edit:oof this is old.. ..i prefer the remake now but Im still fine with the old one!
@@BunnyPainter23 lmao xD
Ehh I think it’s more down to preference then one actually being better given how well pixel art has aged I played a lot of dream team so I am very bias when it comes to the way the new games look but I like both just don’t think the old pixel art really fits the series as well
@@crazycanyon3028 honestly fair, it’s been 6 years and now I agree the remake pixel art is very good, but I still really like the solid outlines and simple expressiveness of the original, but then again I just played the original bowsers inside story as a kid so it’s probably mostly nostalgia lmao. Either way hyped for brothership that game looks awesome
Very cool attack revamps, but goddamn that music has all the soul taken out of it
Wow, they nerfed the two best skills in the game. Smh ._.
Mr. Nameless which ones
You fight Hermie III before you fight Popple when he teams up with Birdo. So put simply, the attack power is lower because the footage is showing an earlier part of the game.
Alpha Odogwin knockback bros. & chopper bros. Advance versions.
Why u shaking your head that was op in the original... They balanced the game XD 👀
This probably happened to the Mush Badges too lol. Hell, I heard they got nerfed in the Japanese version of the orignal game, so it's kinda a safe bet
GOD DAMNIT that little “whoopee” Mario says when performing Super Splash Bros always gets me
I kinda don't like how they got rid of the option to choose between an advanced move and a normal move with a different input during the attack, but I can see why they did it.

5:25 Kamehameha Bros.
Weeb Bros.
I think the 3DS ones are better not because of damage or anything technical but just because they feel more powerful with the sounds and effects
3:14 this move feels powerless on the 3ds version
5:18 Rasengan bros.
This advanced bounce bros on orginal was my fav. It seems just too fast and epic.
3ds graphics almost had me thinking it was Wii u for sec
Wahoo new game coming soon!!
A lot of these require mario to strike luigi mercilessly or throw him at enemies. No doubt mario came up with all these moves
Considering how in the original game Mario was the one to come up with most of the Advance moves, you’re right on the money.
Oh my god, they brought back the "Go Weegee!" line too! This video just got even better- and it ended...

@@kirbytheartist3318 A few people in the comments have made the point that the remakes feel slower and clunkier for button timings compared to the GBA, which is completely valid imo. I still like the remakes for what they are, though.
@@Uchuma74 Huh, that's strange, I played both versions of SS and I actually think the button timing has improved in the Remake.

Nice
How the hell did this comment get over 70 likes?
I think it's easier to pull off and alot more satisfying than what the original did. I like how they did it on the remake. And a slightly prefer the remake over the original.
I am the only one who thinks that Mario is punching Luigi in the balls.
Super knockback bros was always my favorite. It's just so satisfying.
GBA version > 3DS any day of the week. id go as far as saying the 3ds version really doesnt capture the same magic and feel of the og while also somehow looking worse.
In your opinion
Sheesh! Popple is taking all the hits in og game. He'll be feeling all that tomorrow
Am I the only one who prefers these bro attacks her the modern ones? Something about Mario and luigi only using their physical attributes, and sometimes a hammer and their own special elemental abilities feels better than some gimmicky window shit
I 100% agree with that, it feels so satisfying to see the Bros actually use their own jumping and hammer skills instead of just using objects
Listen, I understand that gaming as a whole has gotten easier so that it’s more inviting to new players, but the bros attacks being harder in the GBA version made mastering them fun. That’s just a personal gripe, I’m sure the 3DS remakes are fun as hell (haven’t played them yet)
So we just gonna gloss over the fact that Luigi has the power of electricity in this game after unlocking Thunder Bros
He's more powerful than Thor in my opinion. But with his bro Mario... They gotta go fast!
the euphoria one feels every time they land an excellent never dies
Say what you want about the remake, I like how it looks too, but it has lost so much character in my opinion.
How? What all because it's in the dream team style im sick of complainers.
Dark Fawful
The dream team art style is actually really good and clean looking. I’m pretty sure he means that the new animations didn’t look as “goofy” as attacks. But now look like ACTUAL attacks. Chopper bros literally looks so fkin deadly In the remake compared to the original.
Jugular John I think the realistic style is better.
Someone: showcases all bro’s attacks
Also Slmeone: beats the shit out of popple
I don't know why but for some reason I like the old look more then the 3D look. Maybe because it's more 'cartoony'
