You don't know how many times this video has saved me from a panic attack or Suicidal thoughts! Thank you so much @Rockybar , God bless you and anyone who is reading this; It gets Better trust me!
Woah I love this song. I mean it makes me feel something I remember but can't describe. But I never thought to slow it down. This is far out man. Thanks.
He thought Titan……. would be the experience of a lifetime….and now….as the air escapes through a minuscule hole in his suit….that he cannot find with frantic and worried fingers….a calmness fills him…….he sits on top of a crest….Breathing in his last moments of existence……and wonders at all the beauty that surrounds him as he sinks into to the deep as if encased in velvet…….the stars shine brightly tonight my friends………as the dust settles over years and covers his body…..becoming one with the planet……and so it goes.
ANOTHER GREEN WORLD. ENO. RECORD FAR AHEAD OF ITS TIME. NO GREEN WORLD REALLY NO LOW FROM BOWIE. THIS RECORD MOVES THE NEEDLE. MORE WAYS THAN ONE. THE BIG SHIP. EMOTIONAL. SLOW IT DOWN GIVES IT ANOTHER TEXTURE. RESTRAINT IN EMOTION .
_Another Green World_ will be noted centuries from now as a breakthrough. Eno came out of the pop/rock genre and blew it wide open . . . to be parallel with anything the modern classical or progressive jazz was doing. But then he threw in very serious singer-songwriter stuff that created a sort of novel, beacon English Zen as well. He grew up hearing American Doo-wop schlock, ferchissake! It's like Albert Einstein's parents were Idi Amin and Imelda Marcos. Hitching your wagon to a star, indeed.
sure, what else? it's the same song played much slower and there is nothing else that could be it. and you can imagine that it would sound like the "beat"..the i think noises out of the mechanic room.
This song, for me, validates every intuitive feeling I have about what this life truly is. It is the question and the answer. A summation of all the struggle, the failed attempts at love, all the wounds we refused to let heal. Everything is okay now. All that was is now our evolution in hindsight. Every struggle was just a stroke upon the canvas of this rare form of art we call life. This is our enlightenment, seen through the wise lens of Time. If the story of life was written in musical notes, this would be the song. Play this at my funeral, a reminder that these bodies are just our vehicles to get home.
You see a gigantic whale floating through space. Its purple skin is glistening in the warm light of a far star. You can hear her breathe. You don't know how she does it in the void of space, but her magnificence is so overwhelming that you refuse to question this beauty. She glides with elegant, mighty movements of her body, drawing a line through the dust ring of a nearby planet. You get closer and closer, as the creature reveals its true size. She looks at you with one eye, acknowledging your existence like a kind god. She nods her head and you find the courage to touch her. As you caress her skin, a million grains of sparkling emerald dust rise and fly into the depths of space. You feel the warmth of life with every breath the whale takes, and you know there is nothing to fear in this endless universe.
This is interesting because Brian was commissioned to make music for a computer company that lasted a few seconds long and he said he quite liked the challenge of working at that nano level.....here is the exact opposite. Taking a composition and expanding and distorting it beyond comprehension.
***** I find this works well, but it takes a different style of listening. "Holding the moment in your mind" until the "change" happens. I find this slowed down version is proof of this song's masterpiece. Even slow as fuck - it's still consistently of extremely high quality. Many good songs sound wrong slowed down and silly sped up.. This just sounds different, but equally good. I do agree however, that Brian knows best - or he'd have released the song in this way himself.
What algorithm was used to slow this down? I’m tempted to compare different algorithms in Ableton or Max/MSP now, just to hear the different textures that each achieves.
Recent searching for sleep music due to insomnia, I have encountered songs with similar cord progressions (1-5-6-4, which is very common-think two dozen TSwift tunes) and one with this exact chord progression (1-4-6-4-1-5-6-4-1), which immediately brought my mind to The Big Ship. I suggest this is a nod to Brian Eno and his writing and composition genius. But none use the less common 12/8 time signature. The resolution from 4 to 1 is beautiful. I always thought about this song being slowed down to drone/ambient pace. And here it is. The song doesn’t have a beginning or end. Conflict resolution on repeat. A bit of rambling there. Point is I find this one of my favorites on a favorite record of all time (Another Green World). Thank you for this version (saved)
Yes! I have a theory about this, though I have nothing to back it up. The piano on Becalmed has a warbly magnetic tape effect going on. This makes me wonder if The Big Ship originally had this piano track, but it was later removed. Eno could have reused that track and slowed it down for Becalmed, which would explain why the chords are transposed down. Recycling a track for The Big Ship + Synth track = Becalmed.
Don't get me wrong I love Eno's stuff, and this is really interesting, but am I the only person who thinks there's a touch of heavy breathing down the phone about this? (Talk about a Third Uncle)...
This is so wonderful! So wonderful indeed. However, I guess I am selfish. For I would also like the original "The Big Ship" that is 800 times longer. So it would last 40 hours - non-stop. Mmmmm, yes!!!
Original lasts 181 seconds= 3 minutes and 1 second. This version is 781 seconds = 13 minutes 1 second. 181x=781 x=781/181 x=4,31 This version is approxiametely 431% longer.
Rockybar Unfortunately, the link seems to be down. Hopefully it'll return. The sourceforge.net website is temporarily in static offline mode. Only a very limited set of project pages are available until the main website returns to service.
The whole record is a masterpiece. Made in 1975. Still so far ahead of it's time the youth of today wouldn't understand it. "Another Green World". They would think it was about weed...
You don't know how many times this video has saved me from a panic attack or Suicidal thoughts! Thank you so much @Rockybar , God bless you and anyone who is reading this; It gets Better trust me!
thank you for those kinds words and godspeed ❤

“Something I remember but can’t describe”
I like that
I keep coming back to this version through the years
jesus dude, the 8x speed reduction is mathematically, let alone melodically and sensationally incredible. 10/10 would time out again to this!
宇宙空間を旅していて、流星群に出会った気分になる。
7:40 9:19 11:11 このギターが好き。
Nice.. Its essentially doing the Eno effect to Eno.
John Hawthorn what's the eno effect?
Brilliant, simply ... brilliant.
damn... I felt like I was flyving the whole time O_O
I'm On just enough drugs... none. Because this is incredible either way.

Believe it or not, that breathing sound is the drum beat of the original song.

My favorite Eno instrumental of all time. I always wanted it to go on for days...now I am closer.
You read my mind! I wanted it to go on and on and on and on and never end! Yes, absolutely!
This song slowed to this level is genius atop of genius. Totally epic in every sense of the word. It is complete joy.
big time. there's something here that is weirdly transcendent.
+whatisdylar totally agree
it'd be really cool if Eno's expression slowly changed with the music!
I was expecting for his head to move across the screen
Iiiiittt ddddoesssss ,,,, jjjjjjj jjjuuusssstttttt vvvverrrrrryyyy sssssllllo....wwwwlllleeeeeeyyyyy ,.. You know??
sounds like heavy labored breathing background throughout...interesting perspective for sure!
This slow version weirdly makes me feel like I should be having an existential crisis... but I'm not.

that just blew my mind
Holy shit! That is the coolest thing I have ever read. Seriously.
So beautiful. Remindes me of Star Trek, TNG 1.1 Mission Farpoint
WOW!!!
I came.
Is this ligal?i mean its stronger than drugs
reduce the video speed to 0.5 and it gets all techno
I think you meant 1/8th speed
800% slower would be exponential so it would be many hours long
Nicholas Costi just pretend the title says 800% longer... don't be such a fucking douchebag
If correcting people is being a douchebag, then I'm happy to be one.
Its about 1/5th speed isn't it? This version is 13:52 and the original is 3 mins?
***** You can do that easily by determining how long the original plays - the time is usually listed on RUclips videos or mp3s.
its 800% slower
I like it because you can still tell what it is
A Warm Place by Nine Inch Nails might be served well with this treatment.
always thought I heard breathing effects on the original.. this is insanely wonderful.
Believe it or not, that breathing sound is the drum beat of the original song.
this really becomes amazing the longer it goes.
feels like I am back in the womb
More ambient than ambient
i am suspended by nothing , i want control but i already chose this way . nothing more than this.
... Brian employed his Brain ....
This is interesting because Brian was commissioned to make music for a computer company that lasted a few seconds long and he said he quite liked the challenge of working at that nano level.....here is the exact opposite. Taking a composition and expanding and distorting it beyond comprehension.
That "computer company" was Microsoft and it was used as the start up chime for Windows 95.
I can recognize it
urrrgh Entropy you boundless bastard
This is, fucking, REEL-REEL analog too, man!
I don't think I'm on enough drugs right now for this to be better than the original.
***** I find this works well, but it takes a different style of listening. "Holding the moment in your mind" until the "change" happens. I think Brian Eno would approve of this. The breathing sound breathes life into this slowed down version. This song has literally saved my life.
This better not awaken anything in me.
What algorithm was used to slow this down? I’m tempted to compare different algorithms in Ableton or Max/MSP now, just to hear the different textures that each achieves.
This is pretty funny, considering Eno's hospital stay with the broken record player and all that.
Watched this video at 0.25 playback speed
This is amazing... thankyou so much for it
Treatments TO Eno
I know this is beyond words but Jesus fucking Christ this is transcendent
If this could be the soundtrack to my eternal sleep (I know that doesn't make any sense), I would be okay with it.
Eno enosified, and yet the enoesqueness of it is still inherently Eno.
It's perfect.
Soaring and absolutely Epic.......................
Thank you for creating this version! :)
This is stunning. A magnificent experiment in sound.
Very Moving!
Thank you.
A combination of this building up to the original would be perfect
I had the exact same thought!
Big Ship and Third Uncle. Way ahead of time.
Brilliant
Eno made the world
Slowed down reciprocated
Erik Satie cried
Absolutely fantastic. Sends chills up my spine.
hauntingly beautiful
ENO THEE EXCELLENT.
You hit it out of the park with this. CHEERS
This is the sound of ascension...
Still, a "Genius". Thank you Brian. :)
This is cool. It is funny though, I always thought "Becalmed" from the same Eno album was just "The Big Ship" slowed down.
Yes! I have a theory about this, though I have nothing to back it up. The piano on Becalmed has a warbly magnetic tape effect going on. This is awesome when you're high.
Not bad but a bit too husky ..
I can imagine Malcolm Reynolds trying to survive inside the Serenity after life support system failed.
Still amazing!
Just incredible
Don't get me wrong I love Eno's stuff, and this is really interesting, but am I the only person who thinks there's a touch of heavy breathing down the phone about this? (Talk about a Third Uncle)...

Mrius86 no it’s 800% slower
Go to sleep.
aches in slo-mo.
I love BE
play Domina by Maurizio under this and you've got a vibe on your hands
Who and why thought of this?
Why stop there? Play it at 0.25 x speed 😉
Brilliant to slow this down. Bold to go 800%!
pressing like just for the concept
one of my favorite songs of all time. I don't mean the original
Very cool, but kinda creepy...
OKAY, GETTING FURTHER INTO IT: THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!
that dude must of added himself breathing breathing
I hate the picture, it makes me think Eno was kind of historical effect human sinceI saw it.
Yusuf Alfaribi he looks beautiful, look again. he looks eternal.
Brian Eno is the best
settings -> double speed xD
Amazing
Thank you for this, I really enjoyed it. Could you do the same with an Enya song perhaps?
Nathaniel Budzinski totally, or you can download paulstretch and have a play around with anything hypermammut.sourceforge.net/paulstretch/

@Anthony M'Kross Good for you, Anthony! Eno is a very thoughtful, creative man. Stay with those types.
4.6 times slower?
no, 800%.
800% slower
Are we using percentage as a linear function or exponential?
From me and earl and the dying girl.
This makes me want to look closer at everything.
You talk a lot, but you're Not saying anything
