It seems she has adapted her menu to include things from other cultures and that’s what she served you. Only thing really Haitian was the fried plantain, pikliez and the macaroni au gratin. You def should have tried some black rice with sauce. Best thing in the world.

Fair points but regardless Naomi's Garden is highly regarded in the area so I think it does fit here. Similarly, I wouldn't say Versailles is a deep dive into Cuban culture in Miami. This is more of a video about the different people in Miami, and a brief overview of the food since we did 5 different cuisines. We are releasing an entire series on the various cuisines of Miami that will far surpass this one over the next couple months. A lot of this is about the people and their stories and less on cuisine deep dives. That said we already have filmed our next Haiti in Miami video which will be out shortly and really shows the good Haitian Food of Miami. Stay tuned!

I do live not that far away from that Jamaican Kitchen joint, I could probably take 2 or 3 buses there (I'm in South Broward, so a bit north of where they are). I'd go there just for the spicy beef patties and that chicken curry patty. Also that fried rice - Jamaican Chinese is very underrated, even if there aren't that many unique dishes to that specific sub culture of Chinese. But jerk fried rice?! Sign me up. And that Haitian spot, looked so good also. wow.

That jerk fried rice looked amazing. Boriquas used to make mojo as a condiment for mofongo and other dishes. Nowadays, you get mayo ketchup. I guess cause it's easier to make.
Our Guyanese friend got it wrong😉 It’s curry chicken, not chicken curry. Curry is the spice that you seasoning the chicken with and describes what you’re doing to the chicken. Similarly jerk chicken describes the seasoning you’re applying to the chicken with jerk seasoning. Chicken curry suggests your are infusing the curry with chicken flavor and that the opposite of what the intention is. In any case curry chicken, chicken curry, curry shrimp or shrimp curry all end up tasting delicious😋

Bahamas the cracked conch, conch salad, chicken souse, chicken in d bag, crab and rice, bbq ribs, baked macaroni, coleslaw & a kalik... so good; Cuban is all you said plus pan con bistec, platano maduros & a presidente, Jamaica is all around the best tho, no cap. Curry goat/chicken, oxtail, stew peas, potato pudding, soup, porridge, juice, patty, currants roll, etc w/ a red stripe.. Everything on the menu, so delectable.

I have family and friends over there that could point you in the right direction! I have had Rabbit which is pretty much a national dish and cooked both ways the English and Maltese! 🤣 They eat Horse, tripe, snails and lovely seafood! It's a lovely Island!

Naomi's Garden does have a ton of Haitian Food but they also offer various Caribbean Foods. It is considered to be "Haitian" though. That said, I did a full on Food and Culture tour of Haiti in Miami, over an hour long and its coming soon so stay tuned! We definitely got some joumou, griot, and so much more!

It’s hard to get authentic delicious patties, most times I’m disappointed with them. Tell the Guyanees the most important criteria for judging a patty is the temperature. A patty MUST be consumed piping Hot. if you arent gasping for air to cool your burning mouth and releasing steam, its not really a patty.

You’re confusing cooking techniques with sauces fried chicken (frying of the chicken) stew chicken (stewing of the chicken). Jerk chicken is a uniquely Jamaican dish not a pan-Caribbean dish. Most probably she adopted it from the local Jamaican community?.
She def adopted it. Really unusual for a Haitian restaurant to serve jerk chicken when we have our own seasoning spice for meat call epis.
All English Caribbean have jerk but it originated in Jamaican and exported by Jamaicans to other islands.

Tell the Guyanees the most important criteria for judging a patty is the temperature. A patty MUST be consumed piping Hot. if you arent gasping for air to cool your burning mouth and releasing steam, its not really a patty.
