Mikkel H Well, here in the US it is all the rage! They give you 1 tb and claim that is way more than enough which is of course bullshit in this day and age.
Russia here, Saint-Petersburg to be precise. 9$ a month for an unlimited internet connection with constant 90Mbps www.speedtest.net/my-result/5800421203 (this time it's smaller, cause I'm downloading Fallout 4 on Steam)
It is a intresting topic. :) If AI makes a descion based on logic is he correct or is a human correct because it uses it feelings? how about if a AI is not telling the truth is it a lie, or a malfunction? Is it a part of what makes us human, if so should robots do it to ? :) Very hard topics to think about!
Great video but what I couldn't really understand is the ending of it. What could she have probably meant by it's a call to humanity? Does she mean more on the user side or the developer side? More videos on A.I. please!
"She was making sound not sense". I think the question we need to ask ourselves is, what kind of society do we need to create for the future. Do we need a society that mindlessly advances with no real purpose or direction. In the pursuit of growth and one-upmanship we forget the "WHY" of what we do. We can convince ourselves with all the fancy justifying answers like "making a world a better place" and so on...but is that the real "WHY" or there's something deep an insatiable want to expand beyond being HUMAN. The advancement in AI, Robots and the dream to make HUMAN like robot that will do all that humans do and do things much better that we do is like saying well we don't appreciate the nature's way of creating highly intelligent and emotion beings called HUMANS because we have being doing it without much effort, now let's play GOD and create another things and give all the quality of our species and let's call is "Synth". Such flawed thinking is a symptom of a society that is mindlessly advancing without a destination in mind catapulted by business and scientific community. The question scientist need to answer themselves, WHY they are doing what they are doing. What is the point of all of it besides making things better. Let's assume, we do succeed in creating a human like robots to an extend we can not recognize the difference. What next then? What is the WHY behind this mindless pursuit for such research which leads to advancement/growth and then destruction of all the hard work if things go off control, which will eventually. I have an answer, but not a pleasant one though - In my mind, these scientist are driven by curiosity and a sense of satisfaction they feel by playing GOD. In our quest to learn how we humans function, We forget we are already creating highly complex being called Humans using the most sophisticated method ever created, but yet we want to pursue and massage our little egos and play GOD, WHY, because we want to feel a sense of satisfaction by playing GOD. The question is still open, WHY?
I feel we pursue science not because we want to play God but because we want to become the best possible versions of ourselves possible. Do you not think by having AI carry out menial tasks we can focus more on art or literature or even more on our work instead of wasting time just driving no reason. That is the why. To achieve what the unthinkable.
That's like blaming movies for spoiling our ability to imagine. Or antibiotics for reducing immunity. We don't need to crunch numbers so that we can use the time to design smart phones and solve complex problems.
Siri, Watson and Alexa can be Separate Entities as far as I'm concerned. But I'm 100 % against the idea of Covertly Merging UnSuspecting Humans with Artificial Intelligence and creating Human Siris, Watsons and Alexas
i think that the ai we're heading for in the future won't be like scifi, where we basically create a whole new race that's more intelligent than us. I think it's more like we will create flexible robots/programs who handle automation tasks that we have people do now. like, the robots won't necessarily think, but simulate thought by being prepared for most of the common outcomes of human interaction. or something. science is cool
I can see that happening. “Someday a computer will give a wrong answer to spare someone's feelings, and man will have invented artificial intelligence.” ―Robert Brault
Graphics are amazing, so is the video as a whole. idk if anybody caught this at 1:03 but decisions* not descisions. Still love the clip though good work, sorry for my ocd lol
I have said this so many times before, but WOW. Way to go Verge video team. This is special. More so about the art of story telling in my opinion, and you nail it.
Too many video effects imo which is distracting from the actual content. I feel there's a lack of continuity too in the way the video is put together..
These new interview videos feel like promos of the actual interviews. The visuals are nice and all but they take away the focus from the person speaking thus making words feel a little out there. In other words, I'd rather see the person in the center of attention and less movements of the camera.
What if they can override the guidelines given to them afterall if they are given thinking capability they can think for themselves and they can override the guidelines and they are not humans they are machines they can overcome their limitations they can improve buy just switching part which are made by themselves
***** in my experience software can never be perfected, and when these AI have a body in the size of a human and free movement imagine the things that can go wrong, and not mentioning the amount of information being known about our personal lives by the robo companies
How does she think about the possible future that one day AI which can learn notices, it can replicate itself and doesn't depend on humans anymore? I think Stephen Hawking said something true some time ago about AI could aswell be mankinds end.
Valinax well I mean we do have to excersize some caution at least when it comes to AI. Plenty of ways it could go wrong but I don't think we should be stagnant because we're scared haha.
verge is actually at the verge of greatness and beyond with these videos!!! congrats guys!!
Wow, thanks for watching all our videos :-)
kinda copying big think but keep doing you
The Verge your welcome and thanx for replying !!!!
Video effects team deserves a raise, this is amazing.

Data cap will kill all of that
Mikkel H Well, here in the US it is all the rage! They give you 1 tb and claim that is way more than enough which is of course bullshit in this day and age.
Illuminat3d here in the PH, the data cap is 50 gb lmao.
Meatboy No way! That's like 1 game download from the PlayStation store!!

So soon we will be needing Blade Runners
The quality on the recent videos have gone up exponentially!
Ok I have to do this, since you made it a point to quote: 1:03 it's decisions not descisions
Está senhora é portuguesa, não é?

What do humans bring to the table?
If we are the machines, then we are the table.
ilker yoldas we bring the robots.
Sounds like a fun future I'm not going to live to see
***** idk when I typed that it sounded like a 2150 thing but that sounds ridiculous now
Robots will be able to keep a log, and produce it upon request. No way.

Chaos is in the mind not outside. Meditation help fixing the mind and brings clarity.
I don't agree. How good have we become with our arithmetic skills after we become dependent on calculator?

Yash Rajeev you are not thinking deep. Use your imagination and create simulation in your mind on all possible scenarios.
Westworld has started something
Good played The Verge with this 2021 series!
Portugal 💪❤👌
Aqui não é só futebol e Modelos, há mais ❤
Siri, Watson and Alexa can be Separate Entities as far as I'm concerned. But I'm 100 % against the idea of Covertly Merging UnSuspecting Humans with Artificial Intelligence and creating Human Siris, Watsons and Alexas
Stunning animations once again 🔥👌
"If you can't tell the difference, does it matter?"
Nice video, apart from 'descisions' typo @1:02
After watching westworld, I'm not sure if those "debugging explanation" helps or not.

I can't even figure that stuff out. I'd be very interested in what she finds.
Great video!👌🏼😇
Portuguese professor? #proud

It's happening...
Eventually the question becomes what pill you are gonna take - the red one or the blue?

You want to have robot that explain why he is late, but if robot has got his mind why do you think that he will work for you?
lol this felt like watching a sketch from Tim and Eric show: Great Job!
O no it ended 😿
If the verge replies then I can die knowing my life goals have been achieved.
Analysis mode
After Westworld...I'm fine with this never happening.
Does graphics though.
Open the pod bay doors, HAL.
What if they can override the guidelines given to them afterall if they are given thinking capability they can think for themselves and they can override the guidelines and they are not humans they are machines they can overcome their limitations they can improve buy just switching part which are made by themselves
is she Portuguese?
AI will bring our downfall
***** in my experience software can never be perfected, and when these AI have a body in the size of a human and free movement imagine the things that can go wrong, and not mentioning the amount of information being known about our personal lives by the robo companies
***** are you sane?
***** you really cant think. how AI is a good thing ? tell me
How does she think about the possible future that one day AI which can learn notices, it can replicate itself and doesn't depend on humans anymore? I think Stephen Hawking said something true some time ago about AI could aswell be mankinds end.
"Analysis! What prompted that response?"
"... I don't know"
Westworld coming to life!
a good video
Why are people so concerned with AI? I think transhumanism through cybernetic body modification and genetic engineering is more interesting.
Carrega Técnico!!
@samharris
Skynet is here get ready for the terminators lol
why would an ai want to coexist? why would an ai want to be useful for humans?
...
oh she's not talking about super ai...
She's said nothing that everybody hasn't. This is basically useless :P
nah
Humanity and ...... Weird Al?
Sounds like Westworld to me!
Too much eye candy and an entirely general overview..Come on guys! You're so much better than this!
أرجو أن تفعل بعمل جيد في إرضاء زوجتك
Not married bruh. But yes, I DO.

The xx are more relevant than ever
She's clearly not watching westworld...
Valinax calm down pal, it's just a joke
Valinax well I mean we do have to excersize some caution at least when it comes to AI. Plenty of ways it could go wrong but I don't think we should be stagnant because we're scared haha.
Valinax agreed, it's fascinating how far we've come tbh
The problem is, anyone can learn to make their own AI. AI terrorism.
Vox brought me here
