Easily the best transformation from man to wolf. Truly terrifying and painful. Just awful. Definitely the best werewolf movie hands down.

Saw this in the cinima when it first released, was something really special at the time . The effects might be dated now but it was completely astonishing back then ? I loved it and raved about it to all my friends and family it was that good !

The werewolf in the film is more gray than brown.
That was my first thought as well
I watched this movie as a kid and haven’t seen it in 30 something years. And I can still clearly remember and picture him talking to his dead friend who’s faces is completely shredded by the werewolf. That’s a movie I’m surprised hasn’t been remade yet

This isn’t only one of the top 5 or 10 NECA figures of the year it’s one of the best altogether . It’s really a work of art.Don’t feel bad about getting 2 extra nightmare demons. I got 3. I also love the New Blood Jason. He’s just amazing too. It’s been a great year for NECA figures altogether. Can’t wait to blow more money on figures. Everybody has a hobby . Some fish, some golf, some drink I collect figures. Back when we still had physical stores the hunt was part of the fun. When you run across a new figure you’ve been wanting at Target, BAM! or FYE. I hadn’t even heard that the Universal wolf man had hit stores and found one and got that ole time feeling.
An American Werewolf in London is my all time favorite horror movie. That being said, I actually have an idea on how Neca could do a single release transforming David. It would have to be a deluxe release, but have a “naked” David (I genuinely have no clue how they’d make it work with human anatomy), just plain human proportions. He’d come with interchangeable body parts to represent different parts of the transformation. He’d come with alternate hands, arms, torsos, legs, feet, and of course, heads. It would be pretty expensive, essentially coming with several figures.

It makes sense to own two of them - two werewolves appeared in the film.
I prefer the mouth closed default head version. I agree with you - a hinged jaw would ruin the head sculpt - the head and face being the most impressive aspects of this particular werewolf design. Love the evil, yellow cat-like eyes!
I'm not too sure about the body, though. It does look a little on the skinny side. The werewolf, as seen in the film, looked more powerfully built. Also, the lack of sex organs on this thing looks strange - he should be packing a sizeable blue grey meat hammer.
I don't think the body sculpt could be reused for the Crate Monster from "CREEPSHOW". That beast was built like an ape and not a wolf / dog. That would be one figure I'd be very happy to own, if NECA got the rights. Same with Nathan Grantham's rotting zombie from the "FATHER'S DAY" segment.

I honestly think that it is really cool that you grabbed extra Nightmare Demons, I would def have picked up multiples of the Nightmare Demons too had I found them in my comic book shops or Game Stop. Now I wanna get out my American Werewolf in London DVD and watch it lol
Typically here in the UK we don't get NECA figures until a few months after the US, however aside from the Father's Day exclusives last year a lot of NECA figures released here earlier than the US. This figure was up for a brief window on Amazon and it arrived a few days before Halloween last year.
This is a fantastic figure, it was my second favorite of last year behind NECA's New Blood Jason. My only issue which even then I can overlook is that the faces could use a bit more lighter grey colouring, in the film the face was considerably lighter in colour than the rest of the body which helped bring out the details and it stood out in the darkness of the theater scene, but what paint is there is still good and they nailed the head sculpts, I went with the open mouth option.
I know this never happens in the movie but they could give us an alternate figure that is standing up bipedal. It would be a good reuse/retooling of this sculpt.

Loved it 1 of NECA's finest ever it blew my mind as soon as I saw how big the box was I got 2 to display an open mouth one and a closed mouth, the tarnished finish in the eyes and mouth was just perfect.

I didn't mean to call you a meatloaf Spot! This is one of those figures I have wanted forever. I play with him constantly putting him in different positions all the time. I had to grab 4 nightmare demons of course to display them all. Now let's hope we get backpacking Jack and David, nightmare David with the eyes those horrible yellow eyes [fun fact Spiderman is 20 years old today] decaying jack all 3 versions, and I'm down for a transformation david in some form preferably the hairy one where he dead on looks at the camera. There is alot they could do.

I love this werewolf design. It looks like a wolf, but it's lanky and has more human proportions. It really looks like if the human body was broken and contorted and reassembled into this form. The Varcolac from RE: Village also follows that general design, looking like a corrupted and severely deformed human.

NECA have done an amazing job when it comes to Kessler Wolf. The figure is nicely sculpted, painted and detailed. I really like both head sculpts, especially the one with the blood. Thanks once again Spot!

Kessler Werewolf is the best Werewolf design ever created in my opinion. This design should be used again in a new movie with modern technology. In the original movie is was difficult to properly show off the design.
Not sure why they didn’t continue to make figures from the movie like undead Jack or mid transformation David? Kessler Wolf looks amazing though

The nightmare demons are the perfect ghoul builders.
Need a Frank Oz figure so he can keep asking 'Mr Kessler, Mr Kessler!!!' Gotta love Yoda/Ms Piggy.
I posted this on the werewolf nazi video, but I like this film. Neca should make a David figure. Not like the classic wolfman because he is more pure wolf in the film than man. He could have two heads-the human, but scarred one and the fanged one he has in his dreams (in the woods where he scares Jenny Agutter). Also, an elongated face when he begins changing, and normal hands/feet and stretched, half-wolf hands and feet. Accessories could include a Mickey Mouse, darts....and a bottle of Dr. Pepper.

Got this guy after Christmas,from my local Target,I had to pass when I first saw it since I hadn't done my Christmas shopping yet,as well as the Ultimate Warrior predator,they had one left on the shelf,but unfortunately,no Warrior Predator
i bought 2 of this to display it with both open and closed mouth head sculpts, along side with McFarlane Red Riding Hood holding the dead werewolf and put her on the middle between the 2 werewolves...and they look perfect on my glass cabinet. as always awesome review spot 👍

I believe the Creepshow crate monster was named "Fluffy" but yeah I'd love to see that!

Why did they name it kessler and not just the werewolf? Or even David werewolf?
Is it a reference to the animatronic creator or designer who made the werewolf? Or is that like what type of werewolf he is?

Great video. They originally had mouth articulation on the head and showed photos of it but went with alternate heads instead.
The Alt heads definitely look better, they would have ruined those molds by cutting up the mouths to allow them to open

I bought 3 figures because good werewolf figure is rarely available at this size, especially articulated figures. The best reason is the price. I got them on pre-order at around $34 each only.

Just got the Kessler Wolf off eBay, its a great looking figure! the legs and hands/feet joints are so stiff i can barely move them. anyone else having that issue? i heard you can loosen them up with heat, but have yet tried that
I have yet to find a Kessler werewolf or a nightmare demon. I am looking though, but i did just today got two h2 2 packs!!! Extremely happy, Dr. Loomis is undoubtedly my figure of the year, I'm sure the Kessler werewolf will be my top 2 or 3, looking forward for the elvira and miner figures. Great review!!!
mine ended up having one issue, when I tried to switch heads it nearly ripped the ball off the peg (I didn't notice til it was already damaged). the open mouth head pops on and off the peg easily, not further damaging it, but I'm just scared if I put the stock head back on it'll finish ripping that ball peg apart.

I disagree - I would have rather had a hinged jaw joint. They could have hidden a pin and hinge under a piece of rubber fur.

@@jrex9197 Here in Canada they've increased the prices on NECA figures, they used to be about 34.99 now they're getting closer to being 60 I guess figures aren't excluded from inflation

Needless to say, I'm very selective on what I buy these days just like everyone else. Hope you find another Kessler wolf before prices get too crazy

I've really been thinking of getting this figure to have to put in a display battling marvel legends or mcfarlane figures.....Neca should make an updated Terror dog from ghostbusters figure....it would be a mix of this figure and the gargoyles Bronx I think?
i loved when this came out. 😍 i agree with you on the hinge because my other werewolf (5ktoys) has a hinge on a large mouth and it is barely noticeable but it does come with the extra head. i love the articulation of this piece. the crate monkey is a great idea for the body. imagine if it comes with a crate ot fits in. i would want two but holy crap he shot up in price so fast. wait, what? you dont like the movie? why?
