There's a reason there are so many pole vaulters jumping 6m+ now that are no where near as fast as Bubka and some even higher! Trying to do giants is less efficient than today's technique where vaulters have much more active trail leg and legs rising up parallel to the cord of the pole after the tap (top hand, shoulders, hips, straight trail leg extended toward the pole tip). Then they use this action as a counter corce to compress the pole more which moves the pole more because its a shorter lever length (top hand to pole tip). This adds energy yo the system. Mondo does more of a double leg kick up. Renaud lifts both his knees up off the tap. Nilsen kicks his straight trail leg up perpendicular to his top hand/shoulder/hip line whish is still pointed at the pole tip.
