Talk about entrances! Merely Enchanting! - Gene Tierney

- Though she'd already done some Broadway bits, and well received, here she makes no less than 2 stupefying visual "arrivals" on the set of the same film! The original airplane scene is just icing on the cake! Watching the "jaw-dropping" threesome, Bruce Cabot, George Sanders and Reginald Gardner is/was worth the price of admission! Ms. Tierney was a mere 20 years old at the time!

Try watching some classic movies like 'Laura' and 'The Ghost and Mrs. Muir' and 'Leave Her To Heaven'. She is in all three. There were many beautiful elegant women in the 30s and 40s and 50s but she is one of the best!
I’ve always loved this era. And she’s always been one of my favorites. She is absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking. Hands down one of the most beautiful women in the world
No contemporary actress can match Gene Tierney for sheer radiant beauty.
Nah, there were other actresses in her time that were just as beautiful.
Agreed
Tierney in Laura and Leave her to Heaven are two films where her “everything” ( beauty, acting, etch) is perfection to me.
But.., as far as recent film history goes I think Angelina Jolie made a film or two that qualifies as “ in the running”, for me anyway. Not equal, more like worthy of mention.
I'm 57 and I've seen a lot of beauties but this one tops them all. Her entrances in movies during her Hollywood peak always made the audience gasp.
Agree. She was the ideal. Most beautiful.. My favorite
She was stunning! Also so unusual looking.
@@GiftSparksA great beauty
She walked out a dream. What a stunningly-beautiful woman!
As in "Laura."

Da hast Du vollkommen recht, Walter.
She was so incredibly gorgeous. Just breathtakingly beautiful 💓💓
Gene Tierney is not 'one of' the most beautiful actresses, she is THE most beautiful.' If we could go back in time and take votes she'd probly win.
Joe Bones true, but seems to me that most people think Grace Kelly and Vivien liegh and Marilyn Monroe were the most beautiful Gene Tierney's beauty is underrated I think she more beautiful than any of those women!
@@aprillynn5295 she is less known that's all...her career was at it peek in the forties, then she "disapeared" because of her illness.BUT she's rediscovered every decade, first because she has worked with great directors and made some masterpieces..as we say in France, she's the star of the cinephiles!!!
@@Bebbolove Sorry but none of these women even come close to Gene Tierney! Especially Angelina Jolie she remind's me of Elvira mistress of the dark!
@Biel 2001 Impossible??? :D Uglier chin than Gene, poorer facial bone structure than Gene, often masculine looking(!!!!) while it's almost impossible to look more feminine than Gene did... you are so pitifully lost. I would pick your Ava in the top 10 or maybe 15 of the most beautiful women in the movie history but not higher and nowhere near Gene (or Debra or Hedy or Michelle... ) very overrated bitch. And I mean that word - she was repulsive personality. :/
@Biel 2001 gene was prettier than Ava. Ava was sexy as heck though
Gene Tierney was drop-dead gorgeous. Unbelievably beautiful. I've had a crush on her for more than 50 years. Even when she played a dreadful woman in 'Leave Her To Heaven' I loved her. Strikingly beautiful - and talented to boot. She died a number of years back but I am still moved when I think of her and especially when I see these movie cuts.
Her beauty was just past belief. Massive existential whiplash. Surreal.
Thanks for this montage - I can't wait to watch the film now!
Hi remcat03,
You won't be disappointed! Not a physician, but I can't guarantee the "whiplash" issue! Her beauty has had that effect on many people! Though not the from the same film, hope this one won't contribute to your injury! Still...what better way to go! The singers, to me, though not well known really are the best! Thanks again for your message!

Gene Tierney was more than beautiful. Her portrayals of women were powerful. I think her beauty kept people from noticing how good her acting was.
She was a superb actress. She won the Academy Award for “Leave her to heaven”. And In Laura she gave a performance that is possibly the best example of Tierney at her very best. Iconic, and mythic.
Truth.
True.

The most beautiful woman. She was also an excellent actress, outstanding in Leave Her to Heaven.

Along with Elizabeth Taylor
She was not the MOST beautiful. Vivien Leigh, Liz Taylor, Ava Gardner and Gene Tierney are *SOME* of the most beautiful in the world.

Gene Tierney is mesmerizingly beautiful. I saw an oriental girl behind the counter at Dairy Queen in South Carolina; she looked like a stunning movie star. Some people are very lucky to have the rare ability to entrance people with their looks; Tierney was one of the few.
It's presence energy they have. Makes them stick out and subconscious notice them. With out it they just one in the crowd. No matter how good they look. Most is usually good makeup and lighting. With out the energy they would be flat.

I loved her in the Ghost and Mrs Muir. She was beautiful.
For my money, the most stunning entrance by any actress, ever. Even better was the double-take on George Sanders' face when she suddenly entered the room... classic.
I saw her in Houston at the opening of a Cadillac dealership in the 70's. She was gorgeous still and looked happy after a tragic earlier life.
What else is it about this beautiful lady that draws us to her? Elegance, grace, dignity, style, charisma, charm perhaps. I have never seen anyone on the screen with such allure. A combination of so many wonderful qualities and blessings from her creator. May her soul be with God.

I've always thought her beauty surpassed all the others, Elizabeth, Marilyn, Lana, all of them. They were beautiful too, but Gene was on a total different level. Those NYC women are just captivating.
Gene was more refined, exotic looking...which set her apart from the actresses you mentioned.
Ava Gardner, Elizabeth Taylor, Vivien Leigh and Gene Tierney are the top beauties. Monica Bellucci is possibly the only modern celeb that can hold a candle to them.

For real! As a heterosexual, I must admit Ms. Tierney was not only a spectacular stunner, but she seemed authentic and sweet, too...like she really loved her daughters and being a mom. May she rest in peace.
She will always be "Mrs Muir" to me. She was such a LADY! Saying "Shove off" was as close to cussing as she would ever get! That movie has the best ending to any film I have ever seen.

I just found out about her after coming across trailblazers with the same birthday as me, I’m a singer and was curious. There were few but they all stood out. Tyga, Adam Driver, Calvin Klein being some of them and Gene. Now SHE is an OG ethereal, spiritual rare beauty. It’s in the birthday, 11/19. Her movements, character/beauty just captivating, ahead of her time, wow.

From the very first time I saw The Ghost And Mrs. Muir I was enchanted and captivated by the ethereal and haunting presence of Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison. I cried at the end of the film. A part of me walked off with them. The movie Somewhere In Time with Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeves ended just like the sea Captain and Mrs. Muir walking off into the welcoming foggy mist together-forever. Resting in Glenwood Cemetery, (the same cemetery Howard Hughes rests in), in Houston, Texas, off of Washington Street...a friend and I visited Mrs. Gene Tierney Lee's headstone today. (1-28-2022). She is resting there with her husband Mr. Lee, and her two daughters, who also have passed away last decade. (Daughters with her first husband, Oleg Cassini). It is a beautiful resting place, Glenwood Cemetery. Perhaps the most beautiful in Houston, Texas. Gene was most beautiful, and a lovely actress. I remember the first time I saw her in, "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir". Back in the mid 70's as a child, I watched it with my mother...who was also a big fan. She has a lovely resting place. "Stupefying" is indeed the most descriptive term for this amazing screen beauty. I think that she might very well had the most captivating face ever made for the screen, and that double take that George Sanders did was probably the best one ever captured on film. Maybe Ms. Tierney's looks, sweetness or the causes she supported made people angry. Is it possible somebody felt they had to level the playing field in her life? Gene should have had it all for being ravishing and talented.
Besides her beauty, Gene Tierney had exquisite manners that were cultivated and perfected when she attended the Brillantmont International School in Lausanne, Switzerland during two years in high school. A big part of her glamour results from the refining of her speech, facial gestures and body movements at a European finishing school.
