As a person diagnosed with Dissociative identity disorder ( split personalities) I have to say he was AMAZING! His portrayal really showed what it is seriously like to live with this disorder. The whole "in the light" thing was a really interesting way of showing how we can often handle things better by letting one personality "take over at will" when needed by using "triggers" that we create for ourselves in order to cope. But it was his portrayal of showing how we can be involuntarily "triggered" into switching that was really breath taking and THAT must have taken A LOT of work for him to be able to pull off as an actor. I have so much respect for Mr. McAvoy for not only taking on such a controversial role, but for portraying us in a realistic instead of "comical" light and for putting so much of his heart and soul into each of the characters he was playing. In a way, he honored us with the way he was able to really show the audience what this disorder is seriously like by using his amazing skills as an actor to bring Crumb to life the way he did. ( well even though one of his personalities was a serial killer and most of us dont have that problem at least LMAO). To be honest, had I seen him playing this character in like a documentary type scenario, I would have sworn he really had the disorder himself, he pulled it off THAT brilliantly.

Except that : Schizophrenia is NOT Dissociative Identity Disorder, and never has been. It is true that many people in the past were misdiagnosed, esp. prior to MPD having its own diagnostic criteria, and people with DID continue to be misdiagnosed with schizophrenia to this day. However they are completely different experiences. If you genuinely want to know more, check out the diagnostic criteria (the DSM 5 provides the latest definitions of mental illnesses), and listen to people with lived experience. Or you can live in a fantasy of thinking that James McAvoy knows exactly what he is talking about. I wish he did! But I have lived too much to know otherwise.
Scottish might be the only accent that can get me swooning over a male voice. And this guy is also a brilliant actor: His performance is always spot-on; but it went beyond devilishly good in "Filth".

I was Hazel in Watership Down when we read it at school.
Brilliant book.
The original film definitely scarred me!! I remember being terrified and crying a lot! (“Bright Eyes” still makes me tear up 😰)
But an epic movie.
Maybe more should watch it.
James McAvoy one of the most talented actors ever. He scares me a lil but the celebrity crush is still there🤣
watership down is NOT for the kids.. that thing gave my childhood trauma for years.
Same! The scenes with General Woundwort and the rabbits fighting bloody traumatised me. And Hazel...I still get set off by _Bright Eyes._ 😂
I think parents see a film is animated and just assume it’s kiddie-friendly. _Animal Farm_ is another good example. I had nightmares about Boxer. 😔
Just reading the book gave me nightmares as a kid. Never seen the original classic from the UK.

It’s great but dark af. As an adult you’ll be able to appreciate it. And the late great John Hurt voices Hazel. ❤️ 🐇
@@clothilde1623 Bright Eyes is such a beautiful song. 🎶♥️ Art’s voice is perfect for it.
On another note, at 7:16, James points at Fiver and says “That’s Hazel.” 🤯 I was like bruh! Hazel’s on the far left! 🙈
Professor X as Legion.
I know right?
He playing as his son!!
another predestination feels
Totally
He had me hooked on every "tee-urm". Absolutely charming.
He's even more attractive older. Love him.
Love his accent!
I alway love to hear he talk. The way he talk and the accent.. omg... the character in Becoming Jane... really suit him well...
I’ve honestly only seen one or two of his movies, but he was brilliant in Split. I just adore him as a person and watch a bunch of his interviews now because of it
ach bless his wee heart
Please consider making this available on line - it would be a wonderful antidote to quarantine.
Adored and respected him the first moment I saw him so long ago, and he just continues to absolutely awe me.
he's such a great storyteller love him 🥺
I love that he clarified DID and it’s former names.
Except that :
Schizophrenia is NOT Dissociative Identity Disorder, and never has been.
The whip motion had me he is hilarious
In addition to being a exceptionally talented actor, He’s actually so hilarious and charming in interviews. Loveee the accent too
The Scottish accent
Scottish might be the only accent that can get me swooning over a male voice. And this guy is also a brilliant actor: His performance is always spot-on; but it went beyond devilishly good in "Filth".
I love James McAvoy ☺

I love the fact that you used this song for many reasons
1. Blue Monday is simply amazing
2. Not so subtle Atomic Blonde reference
So, no one brought up Mr Tumnus? WTF?
Oh yeah, Narnia. Those days....
Karan Jetley omg ikr 😂 i’m on the second movie now
I luv this guy so much..!! Magnificent actor ❤️❤️❤️
He just accused him for having a cgi body
Everyone was accused of that at least once in life
@elijahthesamurai that's just sad.
It's not CGI it definitely is chemically enhanced. Most of these Hollywood male transformations are courtesy of juicing
James is charming, charismatic and a brilliant actor. I could watch him all day🤩🤩🤩
Which character was he inspired by Soirse?
Stephen cut the conversation with his "Lady Bird" joke.
I was actually hoping James to do the voice again. 😔
Truly a great actor! To play those different characters in split was amazing!
I'm in love with this man.
I became completely enamored with James after seeing Split. Never watched unbreakable but I quite enjoyed glass and the little synopsis he gave just made the whole movie make more sense.
Look for that smile Omg I love him
Incredible that when he is out of character HIS ACCENT SHOWS THROUGH 😱😍
Best accent in the English speaking world.
There's something about his vulnerability that's so compelling. His eyes 😍
I watch these interviews with the subtitles enabled, and sometimes the results are funny. Case in point: when Mr. McAvoy used the word “schizophrenic”, it was transcribed as “scrits friendic”.
I love how the audience "awwws" at 7:16...not one of them has watched Watership Down it seems...
listening to James speak gets me crying.
I didn’t said where.
James McAvoy cracks me up every time he speaks, that Scottish accent makes him even more charming! Also love hearing about how he prepares for a role and the feedback he gets from producers or the public.
Last King of Scotland/Atonement were still his best movies. Great actor.
Haven't you seen "Filth"?
Stephen has the most awkward and abrupt goodbyes.
I LOVE JAMES MCAVOY!!!! Will definitely watch this!!!
The lady singing blue monday at the start when james walked in, made my day
God, I love James. I have been in love with him for 10 years. He is the best.
how is he THIS charming?! omg.. i LOVE him !
and hazel is my fave bunny from watership down.
*I love this man*
