Absolutely perfect demonstration. This is the style of video that makes RUclips great. I knew I had a clog, but didn't know the steps to find and fix it. Your video led me to the problem, and what to do to fix it. I was back up and cleaning the carpet in under a half hour. Thank you, Bud!
Absolutely GREAT RUclips VIDEO!!! Clear, consise, perfect amount of detail with SOLID explanations. If ALL RUclips "Producers" did videos with the same approach as yours, life would be perfect(but a LOT of repair shops would not have enough business to stay open. (NO danger, however, as MOST people are TOO LAZY to watch RUclips Videos,...so relax you HAVE JOB SECURITY!!!). THANKS AGAIN!!! 10 STARS instead of 5!
Thank you for the video. Made it much easier to actually see someone do it, so I could follow along with my own machine. And yes, it took me awhile to get the top back on, so thank you for sharing the struggle!
Thank you ten times over! I followed instructions to a tee but could not get anything to come out. Even cleaned the tubes of gunk . So reluctantly I put it back together thinking NOW I have to check the heater. I had checked the red plug on tank before but decided to pull it off and put it back on. And miracle of miracles it now works! Fingers crossed!
Thank you so much for pointing out that the red gasket is supposed to be on the bottom of the tank! I didn't notice that mine had come off and was now stuck inside the intake. Problem solved on my Bissell Deep Clean I've had for 10 years!
Thanks for the instructional video. I have been turning these and similar units away but business was slow today so I took one in. Your video made my day. the giant pooch was a nice added attraction.🤗
Thanks for the video. I’m getting into vacuum/shampooers reconditioning and repairing. Started as a hobby to keep my hands busy. I had a bypass in December and these are easier to work on than jeeps. So far I’ve reconditioned 20 vacuums and 5 shampooers I’ve acquired from goodwills. Along with some that where just to far gone to do anything with. My question is. Would running a water flush through the soap dispenser after shampooing help keep the system clean? We have no vacuum shops within 80 miles. So store bought bissell soaps are all that is really available for people. Thanks.
😃Awesome video w/ great attention to detail!!!!! Nice touch adding in that little puppy too! LOL. Mine is waiting for a new pump belt to arrive, yet in the meantime, I am taking your advice and cleaning it all out. Thank you for sharing this!!
Hi, great video, I have a very similar machine, but it doesn’t take the soap, other than that if works fine. Shall I strip it down to see if there is a clog in the soap line? Cheers,
Just bought one of these used for cheap. Had serviced this model before as I had the same one years ago but that plunger was giving me trouble. Had to go through your video and there it was at 17:50 how to put it back in. Thanks!
This was an awesome video!!! Would have LOVED to see you clean out the heater on this model as it is the same model we have here... Will subscribe and hope to see it soon... THANKS!!!
My proheat model has the filter under the tank, used a quarter to open it, it was full of crystals, still not spitting water on the floor, the hand tool works fine I was hoping I didn't have to dismantle the whole thing but I have a feeling the hose has crystals. Thank you for the video
Ours (exactly the same as the one you have there), according to my wife, wasn't spraying water. Soap worked though. It's maybe 15 years old or so, so I went ahead and bought a Big Green 86T3 model to replace it. That should arrive later this week. (I actually wanted a 3288 model, but they apparently don't sell those in Canada yet.) However I totally took the old machine apart yesterday and gave it a bit of a refurbish. No blockage anywhere. Besides some fur/hair in some areas, it was pretty clean. At least compared to a lot of systems I've seen in videos like this. I assume one of the gaskets may not have been working 100%. So I cleaned the system, gave the gaskets a thin coat of food grade silicon grease that I have, and glued a few (not too important) plastic bits that were broken. Works like new now. So my question is about getting some of those plastic parts replaced. Specifically: - The plastic top cover for the motor. (Not the large top cover of the vacuum, but the smaller cover right on top of the motor.) The plastic for two of the four screw holes has broken away from that housing on one side. From vibration from the motor I assume....and old brittle plastic. - And one of the two plastic 'rods' that push the brush up off the floor when the vacuum handle is in the upright position, has broken. (the one on the left side if you are standing behind the machine) I tried gluing it back together, but ya, it lasted about a minute as expected. Are those two parts something that can be ordered?
It was, I refuse to buy a new one and want to fix mine myself. Don’t want to dump a perfectly good machine in a landfill somewhere. I kept mine nice and clean all its needs is minor repairs and your video was very helpful and saved the environment a little! 👍
Awesome video! My cleaner's been clogged for 3 years because I was dreading taking it apart. But I fixed it in a half hour following these steps. I've never had a Bissel ANYTHING without it clogging. I don't know how they ever cornered the market with these flimsy, garbage products. Now I'm off to fix my neighbor's which clogged after the first use :(
Should there be water in the tube leading to what I think is the filter? And if not is it the hot water heater? I have a slow drip the left side when i pull tge trigger so I'm assuming it's gunked up. I just bought it second hand and was told everything works but actually everything but the foot sprayer and flow indicator works..
Hello your video was extremely helpful. I bought a used bissell pro heat pro tech that wasn’t working very well after taking it apart multiple times I’m left at the point where I can not get the dispenser to dispense water when the tank top is on. If I put the tank into its spot without the top on it it will dispense water at both the floor and the hose but the second I fit the top back on the plastic tank it stops dispensing water. I am stumped. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
An excellent informative video. My machine is spraying water and sucking it back but I dont seem to be using and solution! I have put a mark on the tank to confirm it isnt adding to the water. It might be that when leant to my daughter the belt broke and her husband probably remove the top housing and did not resit the regulator. It is stiff to turn. What do you think? Regards Mick
Did you get the belt to turn? Or you saying the regulator isn't turning properly? Not sure what you mean by the "regulator." If the belt isn't turning properly, my guess is that lint and hair from your carpet is tangled up in the red ball that the belt turns that drives the pump.
It seems that almost all the other clear hoses are crystallized, except for the ones that attach to the spray nozzles. I don’t know which ones are worth taking all apart. Do you have any guidance?
Was it broken or just off? I bought ours today new from walmart and haven't even finished one floor yet... the spinner stopped when I was half done with the one floor and I thought oh well maybe I should read the manual about what the spinner actually does. I started looking on you tube to better understand the machine and hoped for a fix... I think this is a very good video... Thanks for your reply... it gives me hope.
@@mindischwab it had just slipped off and was easily fixed. I think I’ve only used the shampooer once before and it irritates me how unreliable they are. Good luck with yours! I love these RUclips repair videos!
What do you recommend I do if it is spraying water only and not picking up anything from the solution tank? The vacuum is fine and the red thing is spinning when I press the throttle
Can you please post a video about the 'Bissell Revolution Deluxe' (Pet); my machine still has vacuum suction, but leaks the solution without pressing the trigger. I really like your previous video where you showed how to flush out the older model Bissell ... which I used to own as well. I used to live in Arvada. I wish I had someone like you here in the Pacific Northwest! :) Maureen 😄
Great idea! We will add revolution repair to our list. For now though there are two common issues that lead to that leak. One is the pump itself cracks and causes water to drain right out. The other part the fails is the assembled that the nozzle plugs in to. The part that the solution flows in to.
GREAT DIGGITY DOG that's a pup and a half. Looks the size of my Doge De Bordeaux. Brother, next time wobble that floppy face. We can wait. Oh and like you perfectly diagnosed my problem and we're up and running in under an hour- and the machine was a curb find 😁. Thanks and God bless!
Oh hey quick question- I've got a bissell 89108 and an 8852. Could you tell me which of the two would you say is the superior model? On the fence about which to keep. TIA!
Mine pumps well from the hose but the red spinner barely had any water in it and barely if at all spins. I’ve had it apart a bunch of times. My heater is clear, the nozzles are clean, the little white filter is clean, not sure where to go next. Water comes in and back out of the red spinner and seems to get to the brush, but I’m guessing my spray pressure may be low. Any suggestions?
So that hole that the red part of tank is suppose to sit on, it seems there is some sort of white pebble inside the hole, I poked it with a pin and it doesn’t puncture it so I’m guessing maybe it’s part of it? It’s the Bissell proheat
I have a Bissell 1699-N and it now only works (trigger deploys water and brush spin) in the upright position...not in the recline position as designed. Not easy to push back and forth upright. Any experience with that kind of problem?
Something at the rear of the upper cover is holdind it is place. I have tried prying it apart with the 6 screws removed to no avail. I could send pictures if necessary - just can't figure out what is holding it down in the back of the 1799v. Please help.
I purchased a new bissell proheat pet shampooer 1799V and can not remove the machine cover to get under it to replace the spray nozzles. I can easily remove the 6 screws but something is stopping me from lifting the cover. It is a slightly different machine that you are showing. Any suggestions of how to get it to lift off, I have tried everything short of breaking it to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
“ NO HEATER CORE” So I have that same exact model and I took that housing off where the “heater core is and it’s just a light no heater core at all… has a slot for one but looks like this whole time i just had water running that was it wires for a light to make it seem as if my water was heating ….😂 I got ripped off this whole time

But when I respect the carpet mode the upholstery spray will work just fine. I’ve opened up the machine, all the piping is clear and clean, I can’t see any leaks, the prime is fine. Anyone have any tips?
@jepps77 there is a clog in the tool hose, it sonnections or the tool handle switch. Pressure builds through a tiny gap in the clog when it is not dispensing. When that pressure is released the clog prevents the pressure from building up as rapidly as it is depleted.
@@joshyouwa I’m not sure that’s the issue. When the unit is set to carpet mode, the hand wand sprayer sprays continuously without issue at all. So I’m not sure there’s a clog.

My guess is one of your filters is clogged. Find all filters and clean them. You might also have clogged water lines, which means you should do what was done in this video...
The rounded part of the plunger fits into the two plastic bracket place holders located on the left hand side (when the cover is upside down). You have to turn the knob screw to water rinse only then slide the plunger into position in the two plastic brackets. Tilt the plunger forward very slightly then twist the knob screw to high traffic slowly to make the plunger catch on the screw. It might take a few tries to catch it just right. But slow and careful is key.
