This film is from an era in which many Westerns were set in contemporary times. Eventually, after about 1960, the American West of legend became The Old West, which is how most persons living today (2019) know it. Gene Autry and Roy Rogers had 1950s tv shows set in current times, which was the end of that era, due to the civilization of the West.

his horse was very smart.
He rode it up to the house at 11:20 and when he went through the stamping mill the horse was waiting for him outside the building where he was first shot at. Smart horse indeed.
That was smart but now we have the super smart corona virus it shows up and travels at will, stays away from loud riots but attacks dog walkers on their own so smart
