    In acetaldehyde example of enantiotopic faces the rotation of molecule B seems to be different .... How can deuterium and cH3 group are on same side...please explain am not getting it

    Thanks for your video. But in case of Homotopic, dimethylcyclopentanone, if nucleophile attacks from top means D ion will come to forwards and OH will go to the back, And in case of attack from bottom, D will be attached to the back and OH will come forward. These products are mirror image to each other then the faces are enantiotopic. Is my conception right? Please let me know. I actually want to remove my confusion by understanding clearly, Please help me out. Thanks again in advance.

      If you see carefully compound A and B formed by top and bottom face attack are not enantiomers. These are the same compound. I have shown it by rotating compound B through 180 degrees. You are free to rotate molecule, it does not change absolute configuration.

      @@ChemWis so I have to closely look at the absolute configuration all the time to find out the face types. Is it?

    • @ChemWis
      @ChemWis  4 года назад

      Not necessarily. If it is not clear by visualization you will have to find out absolute configuration.

    Sir in the second eg of diastereotopic face with pseudoasmmytric center please help me to understand the relationship of the two products through absolute configuration , I didn't get it???

    • @ChemWis
      @ChemWis  4 года назад +1

      Dear Kishore,
      Based on the absolute configuration, two molecules are said to be diastereomers if they have different configuration at least on one chiral centre and the same configuration on the rest of the corresponding chiral centres. In the given molecules, both have different configuration on pseudochiral centre and the remaining chiral centres have the same configuration. So, they are diastereomers.

      @@ChemWis very very very thankyou sir to clear my doubts , sir if molecules possess opposite absolute configurations each corresponding centers then the relation will be enansiomeric? ???
