Thanks for this video I have a very similar Bernina 740 Favorit. I also really love how this machine is mostly metal, I just learned what the pattern window actually does.
Thank you for this! I have a 730 record that I am playing with off and on and the ornamental stitches are not how I would like them to be. Going to get it out and see if this is what needs adjusted. :)
Another good video, thank you. There's nothing quite like an all-metal cam stack. I would imagine the toothed stitch selection lever guide ensures zero slippage via the following arm. I've never seen the insides of a 730 -- very impressive. I'm looking forward to your video featuring your 217; I have the 117K and am considering a 217.
Thanks for this video. I have a problem with my new-to-me 730. The feed dog selector is stuck in the sewing position (to the right) and will not move to the darning position (to the left) no matter how hard I try. I looked in the hook area, etc. to see if I could see how the adjuster affects the feed dog height but didn't see anything obvious. It was not obvious how to get access to what's behind the feed dog selector know to see what's stuck. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Brillinat I just got a 707 the James Bond of Sewing machines. I love the weight versus the size! Now your video makes me want to get the 730 just to lift off the top like my Singer Rocketeer. As long as its not a 737 MAX ;-) I just cleaned and oiled my 707 and now the needles seem to bend when I start sewing although all things are in perfect place. Any idea?
Hi. I have the same machine, together with a couple of 700 models. I have a big problem with my 730, the zig zag and the decorative seams does not work at all. I only use it for straight seams. Do you know how I can fix this major problem? I would be ever so happy and grateful for advise on this matter. 😊🤗
Hello. Thanks for the nice videos. I have a question. I have vintage bernina 125 that has its zig zag offset on the right. For the streight stich the needle is well centered. How should i adjust it for the zig zag? Can you give me some tips? Thanks
Hi, I have some questions. I’ve been trying to test the machine and sew decorative stitches but I have had no luck. It’s only sewing zig zag or straight. It looks like it wanted to sew a rounded decorative stitch but gave out. Can you give me some insight on what I may be doing wrong?
Hi ... I have a 1969 Bernina 730 record inherited from my mother ... how do I install it into the original cabinet that mother purchased for this machine at thesame time ? Thank you.
Hi there, I've got a question-I want to change the stitch but the gear is stucked, I cannot move it to any position -I mean those 2 gears/regulators on the top what shall I do?
I don't have a 717 but I do have a 817. They're great machines! In certain ways I prefer the small profile of the _17 line. I don't find that I need/use all of the decorative stitches. Enjoy your new machine!!
I don't at the moment but will soon do a video on how to thread specific machines but also how to develop a general understanding of the upper thread components so that you can learn to thread any machine by looking at it. Video to come.
My 730 sticks when I start sewing I often have to turn the handwheel to get it to go. I think its probably an area that needs to be cleaned and re-oiled but I don't know where to look. I've taken the thing apart as far as I can go and have been looking intently at all moving parts to figure it out and oiled everywhere I see moving parts but it still sticks...have any answers?
@@vicarioustube Check the long belt, a hex key should be in your accessory box. Loosen the belt tension adjustment and pull down and toward the front. Tighten the adjustment. If no luck, try to get a new belt, if you still have trouble I can make you an inexpensive belt as a substitute.
It is just next to the word record printed on the front. The stitch length regulator is a lever that you lift up to reverse the stitch direction and put down to go forward again.
Thank you very much, Sir. That's actually very helpful! Saves a lot of hustle to not have to figure that out myself 😎😉👍👍👍

Great video! You explain very well. I have a Bernina 801 and can't get the feed dogs to drop. Any ideas how to fix it?

Great to hear, I am having trouble in working out the button hole. Could you help?.
Thanks....
Can you please explain how to correct tension on this machine please. My upper thread keeps breaking.

Same problem here. Have you found a solution? Please let me know.
Maybe pushing to the right and them up or down or open the tap and see maybe some stuck 🤔maybe right
Super useful, thank you.
Glad it was helpful! :)
Do you know where you can get the plate thing. I have the wrong plate...
i was unaware how old my sewing machine was until today haha

انا اشتريت مثلها ولكن لم أعرف كيف استخدمها ارجو من يفيدنا لأني لم افهم الشرح
How do you thread this? Do you have a video showing how?

I have the same issue with my 707 I just got. And the needles bend when I try to free them as they seem really embedded in the fabric.

I am so curios to see how you look like. I just looove your voice!
Sooooo am I blind or does this machine not have a "backstitch"/ "stay stitch" feature???

Thanks Katy. I was wondering the same thing😊
