i've seen bboys do a swimming stroke (freestyle) to indicate that his opponent's sets are choreographed and can't freestyle. there is also a sign in which you write on your hands which also means that your opponent's set is choreographed. and during crew battles, if the routine is too long, some bboys will point to their wrist as if they are wearing a wristwatch.
Battle signs: What I use in cyphers or friendly battles Biting(Copying other bboys moves) Tapping on wrist(Dancing too long) Shaking hands sideways back n forth(You messed up a bit) Slap on the ground(you messed up) Pointing your eyes to another bboy(meaning, telling them to make eye contact while battling) Tapping your ears(telling others to listen to the beats)
Here's one that I think you missed that I see a lot: During battles sometimes one battler will hold two fingers up meaning the other side repeated a move. They will hold up the amount of fingers that the move was repeated
If you point at your eyes with your pointer and middle fingers, then use the fingers to point at their eyes, where I'm from it means "I'm watching you"
Nice! Some others that you could add to the next video: counting number of moves repeated, open hand shake meaning meh/average, cycling hands meaning requesting a song change from the DJ, fake napping/yawning meaning boring moves, two fingers pointing at eyes meaning make eye contact.
There is one that I've seen a few times in popping and bboy battles, when someone does a routine and they are slightly out of sync, or when someone messes up a move or misses a beat, sometimes the other guy will snap his finger in a half circle motion like : "darnit" Its hard to explain what I mean but they are kind of saying "awww too bad so close".
Biting is impossible not to do though on one level or another. Even the writers from style wars when they were revisited years later admitted they're all biters otherwise there would be no culture. Although I do hate it when someone directly spits a rap I just spit in front of them. Happened all the time in highschool.
What about when someone forms a triangle shape with both hands and puts it above their head? Or what about when someone acts like they're cradling a baby in their arms and rocking their arms back and forth?
sometimes people make a turning gesture with their hands like their turning a dial. That means spin a bottle/flip a coin to see who goes first. If you turn to the dj and point to your ear, while pointing up or down, that means turn the music up/down If your opponent toprocks/locks/pops/ etc while you are dancing, it means you're doing the wrong style And can you tell me what it means when they make a pyramid over their head? I feel like it means "I'm higher up/above you/more experienced, so you start first", but I'm not sure...
*this was really interesting, cool! what is the sign when people rub their two fingers together and looks sort of like number 5 but they raise their hand and dab it towards the person in the cypher*
i think you're talking about how people kind of like wave point with one finger sometimes even right? yea thats pretty much just saying "yo that was sick". i see this usually done after someone does a cool move like for example pocket doing one handed airfares
that means they noticed that they did that same move that number of times already. 2 fingers means: "I just caught you doing that same move twice" Three fingers means: "You did that move 3 times." 4...5... you get the idea.
There's a battle sign here I often see in the Philippines: writing on the hand, meaning all the person's moves are choreographed or scripted.
+DaceGiga Nice, thanks for sharing !
You're welcome! And thanks for the videos. Sharing them is convenient to my friends who wants to learn something about Hip-Hop culture.
DaceGiga haha that's great to hear!
For real? ofcourse you need to choreographed on your moves
Lynelle L. Bboy battles are freestyle battles. Using choreographed sets are looked down upon.

We have a sign for people dancing choreographed sets in battles
"writing on hands"
Here's one that I think you missed that I see a lot: During battles sometimes one battler will hold two fingers up meaning the other side repeated a move. They will hold up the amount of fingers that the move was repeated
Yes

If you point at your eyes with your pointer and middle fingers, then use the fingers to point at their eyes, where I'm from it means "I'm watching you"

What does that scissor signal they make with their fingers mean?? I see it all the time.
@Morningbot WTF are you talking about?
What is the sign where people slap their elbows more than two times?
Opponent making an X with his hands ! meaning you are doing the move wrong or wrong technique
Nice! Some others that you could add to the next video: counting number of moves repeated, open hand shake meaning meh/average, cycling hands meaning requesting a song change from the DJ, fake napping/yawning meaning boring moves, two fingers pointing at eyes meaning make eye contact.

Sorry bro, I'm not understanding this one. Can you explain it a bit more?
How about the moment when ppl make a "pistol" sign while they re watchin ?

writing in a note sign.
What is the scissor signal they do with their fingers???
You forget about "time, sign time on the floor battle"
*this was really interesting, cool! what is the sign when people rub their two fingers together and looks sort of like number 5 but they raise their hand and dab it towards the person in the cypher*
What about the ones where a bboy dusts off/kicks their legs backwards towards the opponent?
Came here for beatbox explanations ahahaa
@ 2:51
Sometimes bboy show X sign with their hand😌 part2
You forgot tap on the chest
Hi Can you explain what that Sign means when someone does a move and the audience move their hand up and down from the wrist kind of like waving
When the audience waves their hand, it is a way to give props or show that you like what you see.
Oh cool Thanks i have always wondered why
i think you're talking about how people kind of like wave point with one finger sometimes even right? yea thats pretty much just saying "yo that was sick". i see this usually done after someone does a cool move like for example pocket doing one handed airfares

Three fingers means: "You did that move 3 times." 4...5... you get the idea.
Is 3 fingers a thing?
you repeated the same movement three times
@@maiormydosite8643 I see, thank you!
