One thing I never do with these devices anymore is turn on the fps or speed counter. If I do I become obsessed with reaching full speed and end up playing in the settings more then the game. I find that if I keep it off you can't always tell to the eye that a game isn't quite at 100% speed. I get it for the sake of the video of course but in day to day life that FPS/speed counter can drive one insane haha.
I got an RG35XX Plus and while I do appreciate the form factor as being what I mainly paid for, I'm really wanting some more performance. This thing is a beast and will most likely be my next purchase but man I wish they had it in jungle green
im not knowledgeable about these type of things, but how can we be over 23 years past ps2 release and still there isnt a reliable solution to playing ps2 wherever you want, whichever game you want. reminds me of how we landed on the moon and then for whatever reason, we didnt have the technology or something to get back... weird scenarios
I think the reason is because we rely on emulators, which are made by third parties and are never 100% accurate. If Sony decided to make a PS2 handheld, they'd do it no problem. They're just not interested.
@ChronikSpartan I respect that. but if people at home with not millions of dollars of resources can make video games perform better than the developers and if phones and computers have these impressive specs, it amazes me that year 2000 tech destroys any attempt at 2024 taking that over. 2024 can't do what 2000 did... we have portable devices that play games like warframe and other LARGE games, but a single ps2 disc from 2004 (gta San andreas) is really gonna struggle on today's tech... wild to me
have they fixed the problems with the screen pink text off white whites I dont know how widespread the problem is but thats all thats putting me off buying one
They fixed everything now. The only issue is the shipping time due to the mass of orders. Trigger buttons have been fixed, the ghosting has been fixed and app crashing has been fixed. You are able to adjust colors as well. The device has been amazing for me personally
It’s kind of weird. I am playing these games on x2 resolution using nethersx2 all on max fps. I don’t use underclocks or anything. Only thing I changed is 16:9 screen ratio and x2 resolution. U should try it.
@@EliasPfaiffer Odin 2 Pro has noticable input lag compared to every other Android handheld device. The Retroid Pocket 4 Pro is in line with the rest of the competition as far as input latency goes. Some people claim not to notice it but there have been tests done on youtube and the Odin 2 has over twice the amount of frames of input delay.
I mean spend 100 more and get an odin 2. Rog ally and odin 2 are THE COMBO. The whole pocket portability is way overrated. I wouldn't want to play anything more than snes Gameboy on that tiny screen

Yeah I totally agree, I do the same. We get far too caught up in nitty gritty details, when wgat matters is, is it fun?
To be fair this is still way better than the rp3+ could do and it was around the same price
Yeah absolutely, but a year later I would hope it was better for the same price
odin lite same D900 but more ram, I always turn on high performance before playing any ps2
Odin lite is on sale and is STILL 30% more.expensive than the retroid 4
How can you play wihtout the grip? You know they make grips for that right? Gear icon changes global settings, the circle I changes game settings.

Jungle green would be nice, they should have done it for the Pro at least
this slow-motion fps gameplay is unbearable!
buy an odin 2 pro and learn to appreciate the handheld genre!
RP4 Pro is all you need 😉

I personally haven't had any of the issues, but I hear they're working on a patch anyway

On the Base or Pro model?
You wouldn't get better results in vulkan
Thank you for this because I've been debating on getting a Pro vs the base model.
Get the Pro, it's only $50 more and the performance is noticably better
No problem mate. If you can afford it, I'd say Pro all the way. It's a much smoother experience.
no...get the odin 2 pro!

i love my pro and on my 512 micro sd card i have over 600 games through out the whole console list
ok...and probably never bought a single one of them. ad is out!!!
@@EliasPfaiffer mind your own business.
Thanks for the vid, will definitely be playing most of my games on High Performance when I get my RP4 tomorrow.
ouch...buy the odin 2 pro!
@@EliasPfaiffer Can't limited income, some of us have to take the cheaper version of things.
Definitely sticking with the Pro lad.
Same here mate, the Pro is an absolute beast!
Loving the colour way.
Watermelon and ice blue look awesome!
You are awesome
Thanks bro!
The RP 4pro is a beast 💪
you misspelled odin 2 pro!!!

Personally I don't agree. Steam Deck and RP4 Pro are the way to in my opinion. That covers all your bases and pocketable PS2 and GC is huge for me 👍
@@ChronikSpartan wtf? no one in the world prefers an rp4+ over an odin 2 pro
odin 2 pro = best handheld ever made!!!
If u wanna play the PS2 just get the odin 2 base model. Its only 100$ more.
