Well he didn’t actually kill superman he beat him into a super sleep, it was shown in the return of superman he was sleep in his kryptonian battle armor healing. But it was know his soul was probably broken as he was in hell in spawn issue 1

P.S i felt bad for Darkseid seeing his friend killed,i know he is as evil as it gets but i dont think 100% evil(or 100% good) can even be a thing.
