Bought one from my wife's uncle just prior to his passing. It was his daily player for years, and when he bought his Martin, he was kind enough to sell it to me. It's my prized possession, what an awesome guitar to play. I miss you uncle Jerry RIP
Well I pulled the plug and finally purchased an Alvarez Yairi but the dym75 model with cedar top rosewood back sides. Sounds absolutely incredible and it's loud and articulate even for a cedar top. Great bottom bass end and crisp highs. Sounds great strumming and finger picking seems to sound awesome for all kinds of music. I compared it to takamine and other high end cedar top rosewood back sides acoustics and I like this more it has more depth. Got it for 300 bucks cheaper as well than normal cost. It was discontinued and it was the last one they had. So glad I got it before it was gone at that price lol. The craftsmanship is just phenomenal to say the least very clean and feels extremely solid. It's got a perfect balance of warmth and brightness to my ears. Not to mention balanced across all the strings as well.
what ARE the "good" body types, for fingerpicking styles? Are the Maritn's d45 and/or OMJM (John Mayer) body types good fingerpicking. I play in that Dave Mathews / Mayer style. Thanks
Smaller bodies are ususally thought of as fingerstyle guitars, so your "0M"s, "00"s, or your "parlor"s. But it's whatever you want to do. I have always fingerpicked on a dreadnought because I just can't have 100 different acoustic guitars, and I've never been bothered by it.
I have a 12 fret AP70 that is far and away the most guitar I ever got for the money (I've had Gibsons, Taylors and Martins as well.) If this guitar is even close to a comparable bargain, well, the sky is the limit.

I have a 1973 S Yairi model 9100. Does anybody out there have any idea of its value? It sounds fantastic, is in excellent condition.
@@rayambeault9739 this guy is talking about his dead uncle and you respond by asking about a totally separate guitar? 🤦🏽♂️
Those who have these, know what relatively unknown gems they are. These are absolutely fantastic instruments!
at last a "real" review where the presenter show all angles of the question, is thoroughly objective, gets into the details. Thanks!

I bought the DYM75 cedar top in 2018 new. Magical guitar. Very loud, great balance from 1 to 6. Mine is a keeper.
This has a really nice balanced full sound.
Full on the low end notes..And just enough for the highs. It resonates and sustains the notes well also
It's a very beautiful guitar. The low sounds are very lovely.
Interesting looking bridge. Thanks for the review.
Sounds fantastic ! So do you. Man Alvarez guitars are sounding wonderful. I’ll be checking them out. Thank you
