Before commenting, here's a few things you need to know. They might contain spoilers, so you may wanna read after you've seen the video.
    1. 98462 is NOT Alfred! Never was in canon, and never is today. Alfred was a characterization of 98462 originally created by Richard Jordan, and that character has been done to death dozens of times, so I wanted to do a fresh take on him instead, and give him the name Abelard.
    2. Abelard is NOT a B12. Despite appearances, he is actually an NER B14, with heavy modifications.
    3. I originally had no plans to include Abelard as a ghost at the end, but it was thanks to a bit of extra audio from his voice actor that gave me just the inspiration I needed to create him for that scene at the end. As of now, I have no plans for anything involving his partner, 87546, but who knows? With a bit of time, we'll just have to wait and see... ;)
    4. I said in the beginning that Edward was delivering a train of scrap to be melted down, and yet in the video, he's not pulling anything. That's a mistake I overlooked, and I suppose to make up for that, we can just say he dropped his train off before the video started. IDK. Well, regardless, it's too late to change anything about it now. :P

I do like how you somewhat continued Bert learns the truth. Also I think what makes this pretty emotional is how Bert just accepted his fate with open arms(or buffers).

Making 98462 the scrap engine from 'a dark night for Bert' was a stroke of genius though.

This did remind me of one of Narrow Gauge's Horror on the Rails stories. For years Arry and Bert had ridiculed the steam engines saying that they would be scrapped. But it looks like the tables have turned. Sorry it's taken me a while to comment on this. Very well done Ben. 👍

Wow Ben this is awesome. I like how you continued with the recent trend of diesel realizing that their time is coming and this is one of the good ones. 10/10.

well, that was quite spooky and a bit emotional about your theory about what had happen to the ironworks twins along with the whole killdane ironworks. then again, it was great until it lasted, and bravo on filming this along with the actors that offered to help you on this.

Even though Arry and Bert are menaces, being scrapped is something I would never wish upon them

"You better get out of hear, before you see my innards."
I only just discovered your channel, and I have already fallen in love with your writing. Your dialogue is SO compelling and authentic-feeling. I love how Bert behaves in this. He has been serving up and witnessing death for his whole life; he is desensitized to it. So when it happens to 'Arry, he's upset... But he's also SO nonchalant about it. The "He's over there" line GOT me. That musical cue, the cut over to his remains... WOW. That was gutsy! I love how resigned to his fate Bert is the whole video; he knows how this goes. He knows there's no escape. After all, he made a living out of that fact. Even after all he's done, I can't help but respect his self awareness and wisdom in these final moments.
I liked your adaptation of that Bert story with the scrap engine. I've seen it done plenty of times, but you added a new flare to it by making it 98462, and by actually SHOWING his past! I liked all the name too; the diesels know each other's full names, and respect each other enough to use them. When they're together, they don't all act like creeps and monsters, even in a scrapyard. They're just normal guys who have been desensitized to scrap.
And last but certainly not least, i LOVE your style!! I love how you mix brands; Take Along Edward and TWR Bert actually look really good together when you do it right. Sometimes when I see it done, the engines are leaning awkwardly on the track, and the characters scale poorly. But you were SO clever about how you did it, flipping the track over and never putting Edward and Bert directly next to each other. It looked great. I love how you utilized the set, too; the smelter shed doors closing was awesome. And maybe the best part, was the face animations! I love how the mouths open and close with the dialogue, the expressive eye and eyebrow movements, and that one moment with the exclamation mark in the air was great! I'd love to see more stuff like that in videos; such a refreshing, nonverbal way to show a character's panic!
This whole thing was just so immersive and well written. Props for being gutsy enough to kill 'Arry off. Clever to do it in the 2000s though, so he's still around for most of the timeline. Loved every second of this!

Diesel of alrest (His previous username was Diesel 20212) has been around for a while now (Since 2013 on DeviantArt and having a series since 2015 except those vids are gone now), love your work by the way!

I like how the scrap engine and the old engine in his flashback are established characters, those being 98462 and Glynn. I can even think of other characters to portray them, such as Edward, Neil, Albert or Duke as the old engine and 87546 or one of the Mid-Sodor engines (like Smudger or Stanley) as the scrap engine.

But in all seriousness I really like this adaptation of “the Spectre’s warning” with is own twist and bittersweet ending.
    Very well done!

Not so sure how I feel about that. 98462 rubbing in Bert’s death like that just seems petty since Bert accepted his fate

    Wow... just wow.
Props to you for a very different take on a supernatural Thomas video.
This felt perfectly paced, and every little bit was very clever. The use of die-cast and wooden engines together was seamless, and the whole thing was put together very nicely. Also, you're one of the few to use merchandise instead of an audio story or Trainz - so well done!
Overall some very good work happening in this video.
