Today I sit down and tell my foster care and adoption story and how I became the man I am today. I also explain why I really got separated from my brother.

@@kitkat7871 neglect IS abuse though. You can get taken away or even arrested just as fast by neglecting your kids. I do agree that if he wasn't as affected by that, that's his own feelings or thoughts.

As a parent who's children were in foster care, I was lucky. My kids were placed with an amazing family that we still have a relationship with today, 15 years later. My kids were in foster care for the longest 8 months of our lives, while I went into treatment for addiction. I'm sorry you went through so much. Your an amazing young man and deserve amazing thing.
Way to go, mom! As a former foster parent, this is exactly why so many of us did it!I love hearing about reunifications and of ongoing bonds with temporary caregivers! Such a blessing to have that support and it is so good for the kids to be able to maintain the bonds they formed with good foster parents so it wasn’t another loss experienced. It sounds like you placed your kids first after their removal and I really commend that!
CONGRATULATIONS on being clean AND having you babies home. I know you said 15 years ago but from a family with addicts and recovering addicts I know sometimes it can hit you for no reason out of nowhere. So in case anyone hasn't told you recently I'm proud of you
Congratulations, I know that was extremely hard and challenging. I grew up with a parent who had an addiction and I also was in foster care she got us back as well.
Imagine going through all you’ve been through, and becoming THIS person. People take life times, (sometimes it doesn’t even happen, )to find a kind, balanced, hardworking version of themselves , and you’re already there! That’s your hard work Alex, that got you there. I hope you’re super proud of yourself x
All ANY child needs is unconditional love, boundaries and support - sadly, you were let down so many times by the adults around you Alex. BUT God had a bigger plan and knew who needed YOU as much as you needed THEM. I knew your story, but hearing you tell it again now reminds me how blessed ALL of you are to have each other. God is good!!!!
As an experienced foster Mum it's important to realise that neglect is a form of abuse. Thank you for sharing such a private and difficult part of your life.
It was interesting listening to some of the details I hadn’t heard before. Thanks for sharing, and I give you a lot of credit doing so on social media. It takes a lot of strength just to tell people in person, so that’s awesome!
Alex, The bond you share with Hannah is second to none. God brought your mom and dad into your life and he did it for a reason. Your mom and dad are angels among men. There aren't many foster kids that grow up with the things that all of you kids do. Never take that for granted. Not all kids get a beautiful mansion to live in, parents that buy you anything and everything you want or need. Parents that buy cars for their kids, rent apartments for their kids, pay all of the kids bills etc. It takes a special person to do those things and Crystal and Aaron do all of those things with nothing but love. Never forget that your mom and dad rescued you from a much sadder life and never lose the appreciation you have for them. You are one amazing young man and I wish you nothing but the best.
I’m a 48 year old Mother and Grandma and I want you to know you inspire me. You’re such a remarkable young man. Thank for sharing what I know was difficult. One day you will be the BEST husband and father, just not for a few more years 😮 😉 ❤️

It was different from your mum's version as she wasn't there to interject, obviously your mum needs to get her perspective across, but this was your life, in your words. What a gentleman, you should be proud of where you're at
Agreed. I think she is being a protective mom when she does that, but I find myself wishing she’d just let them talk when they try. This was very enlightening and emotional, but I wonder if it helped him to say it out loud with his voice?
I also think that they wanna uphold their brand of "family channel" and just have mostly fun up lifting vlogs.

It was not Crystals story to tell it was Alex story and he told us when he was ready. So much moving around as a young child how would you ever grow up trusting anything or anyone. I love the way he loves Hannah she is such a special young woman.

Exactly. Yet they then audacity to blame the child. I wish I could get hold of them, make them sleep on a cold floor with only a piece of toast to eat. I hope the authorities threw away the key!!
Sounds like you were going through a lot of trauma/PTSD as a young child, it wasnt you being naughty. Sounds like the first placement didnt understand that. 😔 Thank goodness for Crystal and Aaron coming into your life. ❤

It sounds like RAD, especially if he was tantruming like that at age one… then to go on and be abused and neglected further. Just awful!
@@KeKe_10_84 I don't think it was RAD. RAD can't be fully cured and Alex is just the sweetest soul you've ever seen now; I honestly just don't believe that he could have made such a dramatic transformation. Plus, the way they tell the story is that all Crystal had to do was just provide reassurance to him one time that she would always love him no matter how he acted and he never had another tantrum. RAD can't be treated that fast or easily; it takes years of intensive therapy. I think it was just a classic case of a really angry kid who reacted appropriately to abuse, and then when they got into a safe environment, tested boundaries so as to make sure their foster parents didn't just throw them out at every hurdle before they allowed themself to get attached.
Thanks Alex. There is plenty that you left out of this story and I can understand why. I don't like you taking responsibility for the bad things happening because you were bad tempered. Each of those who rescued you along the way have proven that it wasn't your fault. You have blossomed now. Keep growing and Stay Safe! 😺
We love you too, Alex. I'm thankful, you and Hannah, found your forever family.. I too, grew up in foster care. Each of you that found your way to the Pettits or, Wallace homes seem to be very blessed. Always remember and perhaps, you all will pay it forward.. Many never find their forever family, their peace and happiness..

Of all the stories I've heard from your family so far yours always gets me. I hate that you had to endure so much heartbreak as a child. No kid deserves to be treated that way. 💜 I am so glad you and Hannah found the Petitt family and were truly shown unconditional love. You always deserved that, especially on the days you had such big feelings the escaped you in ways that felt bad to others around you. Little could they understand how badly it must have been for you to have those feelings.

As someone who was in the foster care system temporarily i know how hard it must have been to always be unsettled. You turned in to an outstanding young man alex and I can’t wait to see what comes next
Thank you for sharing your story! As many have said, there are reasons all kids act out and it doesn't make someone a bad kid. You have to love them through it... and I am so thankful you found parents that were willing to do that with you in your forever family!

Thanks for sharing your story with us! It's terrible you had to go through all of that at such a young age! No child should even be aware of many of the things you were experiencing.
However, your story really shows how true one of my favorite quotes is. I don't remember who said it, but it goes something like "Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end".
I can imagine you and the other kids felt scared, alone, like the future were never gonna be okay, like no parent would ever treat you with nothing but love and respect... And look at where you're now!
