The problem is, as stated on the video, that Peturavo cared too litle about his own legion. Massive loses, no explanation to the families of what was happening. Humans aren't machines, some off work maintenance and care goes a long way, that's why Guilliman is so efficient really, 80% of his efforts are off battle.
DaX I don’t think it’s a case of him not caring, Perturabo has always struggled with the human element, both within himself and with others. There’s another story where Magnus asks him to build a device to help with psychic research only for Perturabo to crush it in front of him to make a point because he saw cruelty as the most efficient solution. Likewise with the decimation it was his attempt to teach his legion to never settle for being the second best, it wasn’t that he didn’t care more that he didn’t know how to show it. One wonders if guilliman had the tyrant of locos for a father and been bought up in the grudges and political intrigue of Olympian society if he wouldn’t have turned out the same way.
Perturabo is often seen as less than his brothers. True he is not as charismatic, or as flashy, as most of the others. But that didn't make him any less great or worthy before he fell. He was mentally what his brother Mortarion was physically... I pity them both. Addendum: I KNOW it is not possible, whether from the in universe "rules" of becoming a Daemon, or the way that 40K works. But I wish that fallen Primarchs could be pulled out of the pit of pain, insanity, and corruption they drowned in and that their souls can find some of the peace they didn't have in life. Yes they were flawed, and yes they've done terrible things in service to their "patrons". But they are... were... human. And humans are flawed. I'd be satisfied with their souls, like Horus before them, being destroyed. Oblivion's nonexistence is better than eternity trapped with the "gods".
@Cian Abroad I agree, but the nature of the Warp and its twisted, insane, and malicious "gods" would NEVER allow the fallen, especially the Primarchs, have a chance at better if there souls were released. They're all petty and spiteful, and would do anything and everything to hurt those freed fallen to hurt the loyalists and especially The Emperor. So ending them completely, so they are beyond the clutches of those Chaos bastards is likely the best to hope for in 40K.
Guilliman: How dare he!? Those were good, loyal men. Such senseless cruelty should be beneath an age of enlightenment. Emps: Meh. Honestly, Big-E should probably have seen a big issue of Pert going from peaceful, idealistic scholar to needlessly cruel tyrant in such a short span of time.
@@praise_kek340 To be fair, he was ordered to do it, whereas Pert did so during a state of fury. Plus, Roboute at least tried to minimize casualties (both razings were a mistake though.)
@Zoomer Waffen Thing is, did it REALLY need to happen? Decimation was for the cowardly. These Iron Warriors fought through Hell and never wavered in their duties. I don't believe he did it just because he could, but his logic and reasoning just seems too flawed to justify it. Fulgrim's legion were suffering and he managed to pull them from the brink without similar brutality (then again, every legion had a different character and, whilst the Emperor's Children may have been exemplary once, how they turned out doesn't reflect well on Fulgrim's disciplinary measures.)
Big-E is just a weird figure. Even when finally reunited with his sons he doesn't spend much time with them and basically allows them to do as they please except when it's lorgar.
I absolutely love the scene just after this where Forrix find Perturabo and they kinda 'talk it out' Forrix really being the best of iron warriors character wise. If we see a return of Perturabo in 40k he NEEDS to be written by Guy Haley
When you work with iron you realize. You can harden iron. But, if you harden it too much; it becomes brittle. Perturablo became emotionally brittle. Instead of trying to work with and learn from his brothers. As many of them worked with and learned from both the emperor and each other. He hardened his resolve to prove himself worthy with out help or input. He closed himself off from the very resources that could best help him get what he wanted most. Respect and kinship.
“Do you not see? Did you think Olympia is special somehow because I was found here?” That quote really shows his dedication. His own home he is willing to destroy in the name of the Emperor. That quote speaks volumes for his disconnect from any attachment.
What an incredible view into the legion. This is such a heavy story. I love Warhammer for things like this. Thank you for the video! Discovered you yesterday and you are quickly becoming one of my favorite channels
This book actually ended up changing a lot of the way I look at the world. The line where his sister says (and I'm paraphrasing here) "You are like a small child who complains that people do not praise you for your brilliance while you hide in the dark, attempting not to be noticed." Exactly that. Perturabo is, and always will be, a spiteful character. But a huge part of the tragedy is that it's his choice to be a tragedy. The world didn't shove all of this upon him; he chose to be passive aggressive, to stay on the sidelines, to pursue other paths. He disdained the spotlight, and yet complained that he was never in the spotlight. It really made me think about how I do that in my own life to various extents. It was a great book.
Man, I'm so glad that I found your channel. Your delivery of the lore is amazing, and detailed, what I feel like the community was missing. Leutin09 can start you off in the lore, explain the general setting, timeline, and characters, but you come to Rho when you need that nitty-gritty, line-by-line readings of the thoughtful moments in the lore. Love your work brother
Best Perturabo quote eva "" You are rich with folly to think this slight could go unanswered" thank you @Wolf Lord Rho you turned me in to a new Iron Warrior fan, they are not so bad now.
I read this book in one sitting. Made me fall in love with Perturabo, and hurt for him. He was so capable, but could not see past his own resentment, and when he finally did, he broke.
Wolf Lord Rho is the best loremaster, I mean he really gets and exposes every character's many facets. to Wolf Lord Rho, I cant say how many hours I have spent listening to him even after I have read all the books.
I find the conversation between Perturabo and his sister incredibly illuminating. Perturabo is a builder by nature, he wanted to create and was always dependable. But because of his own feelings of unworthiness he constantly doubts and it is that doubt that eats away at his mind. If he had been reassured of his value could he have been saved?
I think killing his sister with his bare hands, finally pushed Perturabo over the edge and gave him that one silver of clarity that he so desperately needed. I know it's not mentioned but it feels implied
I fail to see how Perturabo removed the weak when the Marines killed were chosen at random he could easily have killed his best Marines with this and the weaker one just happen to have not been chosen.
Decimation has a psychological effect to it, forcing loyalty and forced efficiency out of fear. I mean it could have just as easily been you that drew the unlucky ticket, so you better steel yourself and buckle down so it doesn’t happen again. Decimation is a giant “Do better or die” threat with full audience participation
@@Blade40688 Actually decimation was a social tool more than a tactical one, it would only be useful as an exemplary message for the other legions; don't fuck up, or this will be done to you. There is only one instance that I can remember of the decimation being used right, and it was a very severe case where a legio had grown stagnant on a very long term siege(Numantia, 20years of siege) One member of the Scipio family decimated the legion first thing after his arrival, then forced them into heavy training and forced labour for half a year, then made them build a fortified wall around the city to make sure it would not get more supplies from outside, and then kept the heavy discipline for the rest of the siege under the threat of a second decimation. And it worked, they took the city in the end, albeit empty of life.
@@GUMMRUCHK No it works, we have real world history to show this, caesars 10th went from decimation to god like veterancy. Any time a legionary would consider routing he has a vivid, brutal memory if the cost. Im sure hed rather die standing side by side with his comrade as apposed to having to beat/be beaten to death. Especially when you know your victim/murderer. You share a tent with the guy, eat shit and sleep almost 70% of your time with them.
Every time I can see the emperor is not providing the fatherly advice and guidance that he should be in situations that desperately call for it (Example: Perturabo ordering 10% of his Legion beaten to death by the other 90%) make me incredibly grateful that I have such a great dad.
Ok so there’s a lesson in Pert’s fall. He already believed in his mind that what he did was something the Emperor could not forgive. He may have invoked some sort of discipline or penance but he probably would have given a way for Pert to redeem himself. Lesson being if you fucked up, don’t keep yourself from atoning from it.
Still my favorite Primarch having dealt with similar feelings of being undervalued and how the cycle of Abuse affects us all thankfully I had help to get through the moments of doubt and of the self loathing. Can't wait for Arch's Loyalist Version of him to come out to see what he comes with. Also Why couldn't Ferris Have Fallen instead. That would have been an interesting Heresy.
Perturabo remaining loyal is a simple as it is complex. I'm looking forward to Arch's video as well (4th legion for life).A part of me wants to see him come back in the current 40k narrative as mess up everyone's plans.
And this is where Horus contacts Perturabo and congratulations him on saving his home and defeating the rebellion. Horus gives Perturabo the praise and acknowledge he craves, and ask Perturabo to join him against the cruel uncaring Emperor. And Perturabo, seeing no other way, takes the offer. PS. It is later hinted, that the unrest on Olympia was instigated/exacerbated by agents of the Word Bearers Legion....
At the end of the book the best part when I think forrix finds pertarabo that interaction was great. Best part is when forrix tells him some of men fought back against his orders and he said good like he was glad that some still had the will to fight against his rage.
@@notsocrazytank707 I think it would have shifted his anger to his sons, were they would be probably another decimation order or worse. But it could have saved the planet from burning and possible save Purtarobo joining Horus. This would not happen though unless his sons prior combat experience was not monotonous as it was. It wasn’t till the iron warriors were in Olympia literally burning their old rooms they grew up on that they realized fully what they were doing, it was orders as usual till that point, they had done this sort of thing billion times over.
@@notsocrazytank707 I liken Pertarobo to a toy maker when his toys get abused or don’t work he gets frustrated and flies into a rage and smashes the the toy. If none of his toy solders followed his orders he will get frustrated and something gonna get smashed. And believe me I know the feeling.
I will have to give this a listen when I'm done with Fear to Tread. Been listening to these books at work whenever I can. Last week I listened to Angel's Descent and man that was a good book imo. Seeing the life of an astartes before they became one, seeing The Lion before he was found. Would like to get more of that from all the primarchs.
perturabo couldve so easily remained loyal to emperor but his own insecuritys created a self fulfilling prophecy that caused his fall. he thought his brothers never respected him because he kept too distant from them but he didnt realise it was his own fault not theirs. if he had gone to the emperor after this story i really wonder what wouldve happened.
You’ve got me reading hammer of Olympus now with all this iron warriors talk. Was never much for the traitors but enjoyed the night lords so on to this.
Whenever I read, or watch other 40k Content Creators doing coverage on the Iron Warrior's breaking point, including watching this video after 3 years. As well before the start of the heresy. This Dialogue between Perturabo and his Sister from both the Novel and Cover; "What Happened to the Man I knew who wished for no more War? The Boy who drew such wonderful things." -Hes "Nobody wanted them." -Pert That Solidifies my love for the Iron Warriors ever so grudgingly hard. For their Bitterness, and the need of a Hug from the Legio Salamanders.
The traitor legions aswell as blood angels are my favorite stories because i really love their primarchs stories as they dilepict the struggles of living they are human struggles.
That honestly broke my heart out of all the 30k legions I have had the most respect for the Iron warriors and the Dark angels. Both for different reasons but today has given me a new side to the Lord of Iron.
Decimation was an extremely rare action for Roman Consuls to take. It was more of a looming threat only to be used as the most extreme of punishments. We actually have very few, if any, instances of it being used.
Holy shit, you can actually feel the pain that's eating away at him, the anxious dread. He charged towards the edge, slowing down towards the end. Enough to make him realize the consequences of his actions, not enough to come to a halt before falling down the cliff whose edge he now viewed with dread. Stuck falling, all he can think about is his mistake, unable to change his fate, unable to reach the edge. The one chapter i don't blame for their turning sides. ... What could have been, looking back...
I believe that Perturabo can be redeemed. If maybe the Emperor managed to get like a psychic message to him or something. But this hit me in the feels.
This was so very sad, my shoulders just dropped at “Perturabo was broken”. The pain of losing control and the feeling of shame he had for his choices. 💔
17:08 Perhaps this is why he was so troubled. When you are branded the greatest, the most determined, the most worthy, it is hard to feel like any of those. When you are branded that way, your imperfections make you feel like an imposter. And it makes it hard to ask for help, or give in even the slightest bit.
Perturabo was probably made to be the one who can make the hard, logical choices when all else fails (diplomacy, restraint, etc). The problem is that he is all too happy to make those choices, without exhausting other options. Because his default is to be inflexible and logical enough to make those calls, he is both unable and uninterested to seek a better way.
15:23 this is what is so sad about Perturabo and the Iron Warriors. All he wanted was to create great things, but was refused. All he was for was destruction, despite his inner wishes.
This where they start being the “Trench Diggers”? I shouldn’t say this but I do like their colors and armor scheme, perhaps papa Dorn was too harsh on Ol’ Perturabo
Great idea Pertwee I love the iron warriors and their stoicism not to mention all the good siege stuff. Highly recommend people read the honsou novels (storm of iron etc)
Perrturabo the Lord of iron buckling and cracking finding himself wanting I shed a tear for this man but we all know what he becomes. On a side note definitely going to read this book thank you for this keep up the great work.
There’s a moment at the end of the book where Pert asks one of his captains if any of his men disobeyed the order to destroy Olympia and almost seems relieved when he’s told there were. Brilliantly written
I choose to believe that Perturabo has been in exile trying to figure how to remove his warp corruption and return to his previous form. Perhaps inventing a device that can, if it doesn't kill you, reverse possession and/or mutation and then testing it on himself. He then orders the loyal among his legion to also undergo the procedure and then to find and either kill or cure the rest of the iron warriors. Maybe it has about a 10% chance to kill instead of cure (decimation).
Then I hope Perturabo runs into the Lion and is forced to give him the device after managing to convince the Lion that he stands against chaos if not for the emperor. And the Lion is obviously intrigued by the ability to remove chaos corruption from his own legion so he takes it after promising to "put it to good use"
But then the Lion brings it to Guilliman and either doesn't tell him where he got it or they decide not to tell anyone because no one will believe that Perturabo isn't evil and they won't trust his invention. Which of course will piss Perturabo off all over again and leave him and his Iron Warriors standing alone against both the empire and chaos
I now I'm 2 years late, but man these guys are my favorite chapter. Both traitor and loyal. When i first got into 40k about a year ago i probably hated them the most, but after going through this series on them i feel bad for them and find them to be one of the most well written groups in the heresy. If they ever bring Perterabo back they better do him justice.
"He sought the strength of Iron, the strength of Stone. But iron rusts and stone is broken. It is the strength of the wind he must seek, that strength which seems small but given time can wear away mountains. Where iron breaks the winds and water bend and grow."
Rather than just emotion, I think it is great that just like Kurze, Perturabo also reeks of Mental Illness. Perturabo too suffered from a type of "insanity". So you can't really HATE on him and call him emo or a little bitch. This is the tragedy of Perturabo, another brilliant mind, severely suffering from mental illness, which was left unaddressed, of which we see the consequences. To me at least it adds to the depth of lore and characters, when said characters, ESPECIALLY Primarchs, are seen and portrayed with mental illness in mind. And how such a person affected his surroundings.
Adil Zia What do you get when you take a mentally ill loner and put him in a society that ignores him and treats him like trash? You get an unprecedented squash match against your hated rival, that’s what.
Not really Perturabo is one of those passive aggressive people that hates what they have to do but never tell anyone that they hate it Instead they just maliciously comply with silent anger growing about their lot in life I recognise this behaviour because I have done this. You know what the solution is Tell someone your grievances and maybe it will lessen the burden. But Perty is of those types of men who are like “never complain about anything” and just expect people to know what you want
I wish you had included the scene where he breaks down infront of forrix and asks if any rejected his order then you find out... Cause that's when he realizes to me that he and his legion are damned.
Rather then the legions working alone, independently, it would of made so much more sense for mixed legions as specialists, iron warriors build the fort, blood angels make it look pretty, ultramarines do the logistics, white scars scout while the Fort is built etc etc
During the Heresy, those guys hold their own like champs, basically saving the whole Horus alliance from collapse until the last moment, while the Death Guard was playing in the warp, World Eaters were chopping some civilians in a random moon and and Emperor's Children... well.

@Ben Siener Excuse me? Didnt the Lion Shoot his rebelling homeworld into space dust?
Blast it Wolf Lord! Yet one more book I must now have. You diabolical salesman!
😂
Must resist urge to build a primarch resistant suit for the purpose of giving Perty a hug
just send Vulkan ..he will hug him xD
Best part is. Papa Burns McMotherfuckers-Alot is a perpetual....so. Yea. He will hug for all time.
@Cian Abroad
I agree, but the nature of the Warp and its twisted, insane, and malicious "gods" would NEVER allow the fallen, especially the Primarchs, have a chance at better if there souls were released. They're all petty and spiteful, and would do anything and everything to hurt those freed fallen to hurt the loyalists and especially The Emperor. So ending them completely, so they are beyond the clutches of those Chaos bastards is likely the best to hope for in 40K.
It's a pity. Once he gets to this point, he has a chance to look in the mirror, and all he sees is a monster. I feel sorry for him
Guilliman: How dare he!? Those were good, loyal men. Such senseless cruelty should be beneath an age of enlightenment.
Emps: Meh.
Honestly, Big-E should probably have seen a big issue of Pert going from peaceful, idealistic scholar to needlessly cruel tyrant in such a short span of time.
I like how guilliman is acting high and mighty when it was his Legion that razed lorgar's favorite city.
@@praise_kek340 To be fair, he was ordered to do it, whereas Pert did so during a state of fury. Plus, Roboute at least tried to minimize casualties (both razings were a mistake though.)
Random Centurion the moral of the story is that the emperor is a shit father
Not only that, he should not be a daemon primarch, but instead he should be torn apart by his feelings and sense of past loyalty to his father
Decimation, just when i thought IW can't get more mistreated.
Did you think Olympia is special somehow because I was found here?”
That quote really shows his dedication. His own home he is willing to destroy in the name of the Emperor. That quote speaks volumes for his disconnect from any attachment.
You always recommend to read the lore for ourselves first but its your vids that got me to pick up my first 40k novel, thanks for the vids!
I love how this is one of my fave channels and its just one dude nerding out over a book about model soldiers. Love it dude, keep up the good work
What an incredible view into the legion. This is such a heavy story. I love Warhammer for things like this. Thank you for the video!
Discovered you yesterday and you are quickly becoming one of my favorite channels
This book actually ended up changing a lot of the way I look at the world. The line where his sister says (and I'm paraphrasing here) "You are like a small child who complains that people do not praise you for your brilliance while you hide in the dark, attempting not to be noticed."
Exactly that.
Best Perturabo quote eva "" You are rich with folly to think this
slight could go unanswered" thank you @Wolf Lord Rho you turned me in to a new Iron Warrior fan, they are not so bad now.
I read this book in one sitting. Made me fall in love with Perturabo, and hurt for him. He was so capable, but could not see past his own resentment, and when he finally did, he broke.
Baldermort's recent video on the Iron Warriors is a must for this Iron Week and talks about the very moment ol' Perty ordered decimation.
Love your channel Rho. Usually listen to your uploads on my daily lockdown walks😂 cheers bro.
Wolf Lord Rho is the best loremaster, I mean he really gets and exposes every character's many facets. to Wolf Lord Rho, I cant say how many hours I have spent listening to him even after I have read all the books.
My heart breaks for Perturabo 😭 how a once loving son could go so wrong.
His sister? Did I miss something?
@@bionetik yeah, he said the lady he spoke to was the daughter of his adoptive father, ergo sister.
I think killing his sister with his bare hands, finally pushed Perturabo over the edge and gave him that one silver of clarity that he so desperately needed.
I know it's not mentioned but it feels implied
Perturabo: one of the few Primarchs with the (admittedly sad) honor of having an book in the series of the same name which is actually written well.
What would that be?
"Iron indeed" Such weaklings and fools. "Loyalty is it's own reward". Lion El Johnson.
Awesome passage. Thanks, Rho, for sharing this with us. Even Horus felt this way, as the whispers of Chaos began to be heard.
Perturabo is a fascinating character.
His and Angron's story's are truly tragic tales
The Lord of Iron the most likely to be redeemed !
Bro this channel is the shit for lore fans
Now I kinda wanna see some more stuff of the more sympathetic traitor legions like the thousand sons.
Though the Rubric basically irreversibly fucked them, as well as the flesh-change, the Thousand Sons were always in the hands of Tzeench, sadly.
@@Ryuzakku the rubric can be reversed, Yvrain did it
I fail to see how Perturabo removed the weak when the Marines killed were chosen at random he could easily have killed his best Marines with this and the weaker one just happen to have not been chosen.
@@Blade40688 It's effectiveness is very questionable.

Oh boy. This is gonna be a ride.
Thank you for narrating these stories for us, your added commentary makes them even better, keep up the great work!
Perturabo's tale is an interesting one... Great one Wolf Rho, as usual. 👍
i teared up at this a bit the store of how someone that wanted so so badly to be the hero of his own story finds out his is the villein
Just imagine if he had been scattered to a forge world instead of Olympia.
Still my favorite Primarch having dealt with similar feelings of being undervalued and how the cycle of Abuse affects us all
thankfully I had help to get through the moments of doubt and of the self loathing.
I personally love her entire reproach basically calling him a whiny fool
Damn straight!
Because he is
He’s a petulant man child
And this is where Horus contacts Perturabo and congratulations him on saving his home and defeating the rebellion. Horus gives Perturabo the praise and acknowledge he craves, and ask Perturabo to join him against the cruel uncaring Emperor. And Perturabo, seeing no other way, takes the offer.
PS. It is later hinted, that the unrest on Olympia was instigated/exacerbated by agents of the Word Bearers Legion....
Is there something in the imperium not fucked by the word beares?
Perturabo doesn't know how to show love, or receive love, but wants it desperately.
At the end of the book the best part when I think forrix finds pertarabo that interaction was great. Best part is when forrix tells him some of men fought back against his orders and he said good like he was glad that some still had the will to fight against his rage.
What would have happened if his entire legion had outright said "No"?
@@notsocrazytank707 I think it would have shifted his anger to his sons, were they would be probably another decimation order or worse. But it could have saved the planet from burning and possible save Purtarobo joining Horus.
This would not happen though unless his sons prior combat experience was not monotonous as it was. It wasn’t till the iron warriors were in Olympia literally burning their old rooms they grew up on that they realized fully what they were doing, it was orders as usual till that point, they had done this sort of thing billion times over.
@@LordELnumber8 Good point. A marine can't disobey a primarch, but if no marine followed his orders, he wouldn't execute anyone
@@LordELnumber8 I think he wanted to be stopped, because he couldn't stop himself
I love your videos. Perterabo is so incredibly tragic.
Pride cometh before the fall !
Funny how he kills his own home world like his favourite brother the Lion.
his Favorite Brother was Magnus thou.
perturabo couldve so easily remained loyal to emperor but his own insecuritys created a self fulfilling prophecy that caused his fall. he thought his brothers never respected him because he kept too distant from them but he didnt realise it was his own fault not theirs.
if he had gone to the emperor after this story i really wonder what wouldve happened.
You’ve got me reading hammer of Olympus now with all this iron warriors talk. Was never much for the traitors but enjoyed the night lords so on to this.
Whenever I read, or watch other 40k Content Creators doing coverage on the Iron Warrior's breaking point, including watching this video after 3 years. As well before the start of the heresy. This Dialogue between Perturabo and his Sister from both the Novel and Cover;
"What Happened to the Man I knew who wished for no more War? The Boy who drew such wonderful things." -Hes
"Nobody wanted them." -Pert
That Solidifies my love for the Iron Warriors ever so grudgingly hard.
Do some Angron and world eaters please. I feel bad for Angron.
Truly epic stuff man. Super absorbed by this vid
Fantastic! So happy to have stumbled into this channel. Love your work and I'm looking forward to watching all your previous videos
A very extremely awesome video as always Wolf Lord Rho.
This where they start being the “Trench Diggers”? I shouldn’t say this but I do like their colors and armor scheme, perhaps papa Dorn was too harsh on Ol’ Perturabo
Imperial Fist I agree I to am I imperial fist but gaving the iron warriors and Perturabo more depth in this novel It’s great to see how they fall
Love your channel. Especially this weeks content. Perturabo is my fave Primarch and these videos have been fascinating listen. Good stuff Wolf Lord.
Man Perty needed more time with Hawk Boy and Vulkan. He would have gotten plenty of hugs.
Great idea Pertwee
I love the iron warriors and their stoicism not to mention all the good siege stuff.
Highly recommend people read the honsou novels (storm of iron etc)
Aaaaaand, here we go with baby rage.
Perrturabo the Lord of iron buckling and cracking finding himself wanting I shed a tear for this man but we all know what he becomes. On a side note definitely going to read this book thank you for this keep up the great work.
love it great video!
There’s a moment at the end of the book where Pert asks one of his captains if any of his men disobeyed the order to destroy Olympia and almost seems relieved when he’s told there were. Brilliantly written
Perturabo was the first to not adhere to his motto which I love. Iron within, Iron without.
Congrats on 50k, Wolf Lord! Here is to another 50k soon 🍺
Cheers.
Calling for decimation was cruel and heartbreaking... asking brother killing brother isn’t the Emperor’s legacy
“What happened to the boy who drew such wonderous things?”
“Nobody wanted them.”
Wow.
That got me as well
looove the longer videos! Great music as well nice commission!!
Such a pity...
Once again Rho well-done man.
I loved his book. It really did change my whole outlook on the IW and Perty-bo-bobobo.
Great work as always brother many thanks Wolf Lord Rho :)
"He sought the strength of Iron, the strength of Stone. But iron rusts and stone is broken. It is the strength of the wind he must seek, that strength which seems small but given time can wear away mountains. Where iron breaks the winds and water bend and grow."
So the white scars?
@@chipman1589 I was thinking the same thing!
Outstanding! Much needed insight into Perturabo. Check out Angron:Slave of Nuceria. Really good! The lost potential. Man....
Rather than just emotion,
I think it is great that just like Kurze, Perturabo also reeks of Mental Illness.
Not really Perturabo is one of those passive aggressive people that hates what they have to do but never tell anyone that they hate it
Instead they just maliciously comply with silent anger growing about their lot in life
I recognise this behaviour because I have done this.
You know what the solution is
Tell someone your grievances and maybe it will lessen the burden. But Perty is of those types of men who are like “never complain about anything” and just expect people to know what you want
Goddamit I really just wish Big E had sent him a thank you note or an emoji hug or some shit. He would have been the BEST loyalist primarch. Dangit.
I wish you had included the scene where he breaks down infront of forrix and asks if any rejected his order then you find out... Cause that's when he realizes to me that he and his legion are damned.
I never gave Perturabo or the Iron Warriors much thought to be honest, aside from the usual "Siege! Fortify!" jokes, but this... this is grand.
Dam even after reading the book now hearing you go over it I miss my Iron Warrios force more then ever
Rather then the legions working alone, independently, it would of made so much more sense for mixed legions as specialists, iron warriors build the fort, blood angels make it look pretty, ultramarines do the logistics, white scars scout while the Fort is built etc etc
Amazing.
