Early signs of dementia and Heather’s reaction

In this 20-minute video, I share how Heather reacted to the first signs and symptoms of her dementia with the complications of primary progressive aphasia (PPA). It started as a simple talking-head video but evolved into something more personal after I included video snippets from our past to give you a deeper look at our journey. As I watched the old videos where she’s talking and interacting, I found myself moved and emotional.
The video ended up being longer than planned, but given the many comments and requests about the topic I felt it was important to cover it thoroughly.
The changes over the past three years have been so rapid and dramatic, and I hope that by sharing our experience I’m providing some insight and support to those dealing with similar challenges. This video is for anyone dealing with dementia, FTD, PPA, Alzheimer’s, or the stress of caregiving.

Fridays With Heather - 55 Art Projects For Dementia Care is the book that was written by my sister Hetty, after several months of spending a few hours a week working on arts and crafts projects with Heather. She also set up a website where I started writing blog entries, and eventually that changed over to me releasing RUclips videos. I still update the blog from time to time. As of August 19, Hetty is waiting for the book to arrive from the publisher. When she has it in hand, it’ll be available for sale on the website, and it’s currently for sale on Amazon in the US.
